No you clearly display tendencies of someone who is insecure. I mean i added a simple comment that for those of us who like to regig the data (which is what i've always done) it was created slightly harder (by using the big black border titles) to sort.
Yes it is a minor annoyance but wasn't hoping to get lynched by suggesting an improvement.
My comment is still valid... as the spreadsheet grows it takes people longer to identify the 'good buys' whereas a resorted list as i posted shows people the good buys in 30 or so lines. Regardless of what you think your comment was absurd.
You are all benefiting from using technology, IT, and collaboration yet your response to my suggestion was to do it the 'old fashioned way' when you and the rest of us are benefiting from doing it the 'fast way'. I just wanted to do it more faster. Which i have demonstrated.
And yes, Excel is fairly easy, you have a spreadsheet with no macros, recurring columns of 1 simple formula. repeated over many lines. By its nature it must be simple to allow multiple editors.
Neas, the spreadsheet has been kept simple for a good reason - it has to be used by lots of people, many of whom have little or no knowledge of excel. We have discussed macros etc but it isn't really practical and we would spend a lot of time having to explain and demonstrate usage. Sometimes, simplicity is best.0 -
I'd like to say the spreadsheet as it grows is getting less and less easier to list items buy their 'profit' /cost i.e. low cost or profit items on top.
I normally saved spreadsheet and did a sort by the value column but now cant as when i saved it it complains about merged cells. Just a thought that some of us arent bothered if we can buy something at 90% of the price... we want 20% and under.
The SS is organised by category and in alphabetical order.
Earners are in red. Not hard to spot them at all. In fact, this is better since I can so by category. Filtering by %net cost will have them all jumbled up.
e.g.
Pancake
Washing liquid
Yogurt
Can food
...
...
If there is a gripe, I would argue that those with 0.00 net cost should be highlighted in red too.
But I am not a lazy !!!!!!! so I just patiently find and jot it down on paper for my shop. Afterall, with the £20 limit, how many items can we buy anyway. For example, today, 2x pizza + 1 bottle of WolfBlass is already gives 17.98DTD and is what I will be getting later0 -
hi
can you help with spreadsheet i have saved it to desktop how does it know the price has changed?
when i open it up? since its not live but old one was , omg and now the sun is coming out0 -
What is the problem with the spreadsheet? Looks the same to me, feel abit confused as to what all the fuss is about!
I must admit, I didn't like the idea of the spreadsheet at first, but we are now further down the line and nothing has changed for me (it hasnt been pulled, still plenty of DTD items in stock etc), the one thing that has changed is that it has made it quicker and easier to write my lists and generally keep tabs on whats what. I do not NEED the spreadsheet, but it is a great help, so at the end of the day, it's not hurting anything, just makes things easier. So THANKYOU all who update the spreadsheet, you have made it so I can still have a tiny portion of a normal life hehe0 -
While im sure everyone appreciates your work this is a collaborated effort. Close the spreadsheet and anyone could reopen one.. in fact at the start there were 3 different spreadsheets... and on PTS there is another on there along with a website.. that actually automatically does what all of you do (yep... thats cool eh?)
Dont get me wrong its good what you doing, but threats are meaningless, there are alternate sources available and you stop someone else will start again with the latest copy of this spreadsheet.
You can't contain something like this nor own it, just like viral videos on youtube. Theres enough people on here with excel experience and with free hosting from google easy peasy.
But that aside the fact you are doing it and not someone else is cause to thank you, just pointing ouy delusions of grandeur or threats wont work with this, so be happy and have a nice day too
Go to PTS then and do us all a favour0 -
I used my very first voucher this morning...what a terrible experience!
The man on the checkout shouted over to the manager who came storming over. They then spent a couple of minutes pouring over it while I went bright red.
The stroppy checkout manageress then said "this isnt valid as the details aren't the same.." she was talking about the 24 hour clock....
then about 5 of them had a conversation about whether they were vaild or not, then they voided my shop and sent me over to Customer services who had to put it all through again. The same checkout manageress served me over there and I was so embarrased by this point I mumbled "Dont bother I wont use the voucher then" so she said "Ok thats alright then" and asked me for the full amount....then i got a bit cross and thought I should be more assertive and said "actually no, I do want to use the voucher" then someone else came over and told her to just put it through.
Whole process took about 15 minutes!
what an embarrasment.....made me feel like a criminal, but I had got the 20 voucher from a genuine weekly food shop with some kids clothes thrown in...not even a deliberate DTD shop!!
Anyone else had an experience like this?? I have another £5.20 voucher to spend but Im scared to go back now!
Ouch! Sorry to hear of your horrible experience. Be brave and go back or if you can, go to another Tesco's store. Now debt free and working towards saving my 1st £1000!0 -
I won't quote my qualifications, and IT experience, firstly because I don't feel the need to (like some) and secondly it doesn't help the harmony on here.
The downloadable spreadsheet was offline for a few days because we were all too busy updating the live spreadsheet, and it took more time to create this one.
After a few requests I decided I'd start updating the downloading one again. Updated twice - in the last 11 hours and probably another 1/2 dozen times today.
It is available in excel and most of us can read it fine. Some of the older versions of excel might merge cells, but mine all appears okay. In any case it is a guide.
I'm sorry if it doesn't suit you. If you have any other format, that you'd like to update 12 times a day with your super IT skills, please feel free to upload the links.
Cheers

(Good Old Dude) - or tries to be
Thats fine, just tired of people making it out like we should be worried of people taking away a collaborated effort on the internet. Before this started nobody had a spreadsheet it sprouted from nothing and nobody owns it. Yes people contribute and yes they are great etc etc but it could be done again and would be done again if it was stopped now.
I'd love to post the PTS website where you dont need a spreadsheet but not got permission.. I use that primarily and this spreadsheet to confirm things. Both are useful.0 -

Do you know that when I blasted the people who were doing many shops a day, and everyone jumped on my back, I had PMs from posters who supported me but didn't want to post the same to avoid confrontation.
Im glad for you that someone agreed with you but Im afraid I dont regard anyone a criminal for making the best of this promotion and I dont think greed is driving anyone either - well except for Mr T
And noone has asked for your opinion - you just band comments about greed and criminality round when people really arent asking if you agree with them doing multiple shops a day they are just sharing their experiences.0 -
Or
1. If you own a smartphone go onto the internet at home/or anywhere with wi fi.
2. Goto the spreadsheet and load it up on your phone
3. Just before going into Tesco, if you have internet/signal, refresh your page - therefore ensuring you have the latest upto date page
4. Shop for all your DTD goods knowing that you are as upto date as possible!weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0
