TBH I switched from an iphone 3GS to a Desire and I dont miss anything from my iphone (certainly not the cost), everything I needed is on android now.
The android 'widgets' are simply the best thing on a mobile for years.0 -
The next Iphone will be out June Apple always release iPhones in June they won't change that schedule
Question is will it be a re-working (iphone 5) or a tweak ala Iphone 4GS
Why do people keep saying that?
They can do what they want, it does very much look like a Sept release.I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -

They can do what they want, it does very much look like a Sept release.- the screen won't change. it's resolution and quality is top of the market at the moment
- we'll see the new faster processor from the iPad 2 at least - it'll make it a bit faster but won't be taken advantage of like the iPad's bigger screen.
- the design is most likely not to change. there might be a few tweaks to improve the antenna design.
- we may see NFC included (like being able to pay for products using your phone)
I wouldn't hold back if you like the iPhone 4. There's a major operating system launch next month. This will move all of Apples devices forward and the iPhone 4 will definately be able to take advantage of this.
Don't hold back on hindsight and rumours. If we all did that, no-one would buy anything and always wait for the latest and greatest.0 -
And you'll be charging it every day and also finding out that some apps aren't available as they've not released a version for your manufacturers customised version of Android.
are you sure that's true? the only defining factors for if a specific app can be installed is 1. the android version (like you cant run windows 7 programs on windows 95), 2. the screen res (as some apps require a minimum screen res) and 3. the power of the phone (like you can't run crysis on a win7 netbook where you can on a win7 gaming PC).
How much the manufacturer has customised the interface does not affect how you can install apps, therefore a motoblur android 2.2 phone can install the same apps as a HTC sense android 2.2 phone which inturn can install the same apps as the stock version of 2.2.
As basically all the manufacturer has done is install a custom luncher to make the phone look different, of which there are many in the market if you want a change the look of the homescreen, but essentially the OS underneath is exactly the same in all cases.0 -
The Galaxy S2 is out May 1st, it will be the king of superphones for a while yet: Most powerfull 1.2 Dual core CPU/GPU combo (yes better than HTC Sensation), Thinnes phone in the world (8.49mm compared to the Sony Arc 8.7mm and Iphone 4 (around 9.2mm i believe), Best screen tech in the world (exclusive to Samsung - Super Amoled Plus) see below:

MHL which is micro USB/HDMI in one, and lets you control the phone through a remote of a MHL enabled tv, Wifi direct - access your phone through wifi and any browser, the list is extensive, check out the comparison to its nearest competitor that was anounced today (the HTC Sensation):

The SGS2 is an amazing phone, 1080p recording check out the video comparison here:

iphone 5 would struggle to compare to this.save me money not time0 -
I guess with phones one thing is never new: there will always be something bigger and better just around the corner. OP it depends on how long your prepared to wait. Even if you do wait for the i-phone5 there will always be something much faster, much thinner with more gloss, colour and etc etc etc coming out the following month/week/day. Its a personal thing: can you afford to wait that long? Are you happy to go without a new/decent handset until then which begs the question; do you really need it....
(currently saved £50+ so far this year from my non existant mobile as a result of asking myself this question alone!)0 -

yep true, the famous Eldar multarzin tweeted that the Samsung galaxy s3 will be released in the fall (2 mnths after iphone 5's expected date), it will most probably have a retina resolution matching, super amoled plus 2 screen. so if you think the SGS2 might be superseded by the iphone 5 (highly unlikely as the A5 chip in the iPad 2, which will be in the iphone 5 is similarly powerful to the SGS 2's) then it will most likely superseded again by the Samsung phone. He also says that Samsung will be moving to a 6-8 months cycle for its flagships, as everything is done in-house.save me money not time0 -
The Iphone 5 will be launched on June 6th 2011.0

No one really knows when the iphone5 will be out, but so far the Galaxy s2 is by far the best - and I've pre-ordered it - but if they delay the iphone 5 until later in the year, it will most likely be better, faster etc.
I wanted an iphone for a while, but it still bugs me that you can't view flash websites (and never will)... then I saw an HTC android phone and did everything I wanted and more, so did my research and decided to wait a couple of months until this the SGS2 came out.0
