Hi everyone, I am a special needs primary school teacher. I got engaged at the end of March, but we haven't set a date yet. It will probably be in the summer holidays in 2013.0

Oh my- 13 weeks today! We're waiting for family RSVP's to come- end date is 21st May. Colleagues have been invited to church and evening reception but many can't make it. Makes me feel really crappy TBH. Had I have been allowed the original date of last Christmas that I asked the head about then almost everyone would have been able to make it... it's a long story with another colleague asking 8 months later and it being granted.
Today, I've spent ages in a department store looking for a dress for my hen day- nothing! MUST be strapless, I MUST like the colour and that's about it. I've realised that no matter how much I like the dress, I cannot get into a size 8! Instead I bought underwear and a birthday card!
I've grabbed three wine carriers from Asda to put our excess bottles in (without buying the wine from there!), and called at MIL's next-door-but-one neighbour for a very large piece of tree trunk that we are using for our cake base0 -
Welcome to the thread Prudent and congrats on the engagement!
And deva... He's a man, they think they have all the time in the world! Mine is adamant that he's wearing one of his old suits, rather than hiring a new one!
Awww TC1978, not long now! It kinda sucks that you didn't get the date you want but I'm sure you'll have the most amazing day! I'm loving the idea of the tree trunk as the base of the cake... A sorta natural feel!
What sort of dress are you looking for? Cos maybe we could help and give you some inspiration❤Planned our wedding, still planning lessons❤

Strapless, knee length, not purple, or entirely black. Basically I've got most of the Bay of E's listings of Coast size 10's that match that description and are at a decent starting price! I called in at Coast in Biscester Village last week (140 miles from home but on the way somewhere else and would have been rude not to call in!) Unfortunately there were only 2 dresses in the whole shop that fit the broad description. I'm sure something will turn up. It's for my Hen Day at the races (Ladies Day).
The tree trunk base fits with our 'theme'. We've got a tree and apples on our save the dates and invites which runs through into most things (including the rock label design!). Next door to my parents is now a condemned cottage, waiting for the £££grabbing owners to pull it down. In the middle of the plot of land WAS a huge horse chestnut tree that we used to climb, play under around, collect the conkers etc. Sadly, one day, Mum came home to find it had been hacked down. A very sad day and a huge feature of the lane gone forever. I grabbed a piece of the trunk that night after they had gone (cried a bit) and had the idea that we'd use it in a signiificant way- after all, it was part of my childhood and would have been a lasting memory of the previous owners who I have very fond memories of, but have sadly passed away. Unfortunately the drying out process has caused the bark to split off and we can't use the original piece. Anyway, next door but one to H2B's parents have chopped their HC tree down and we've been to get another piece. Hopefully, we'll be able to get it treated quickly enough to use it on July 30th.
