My home is a mess

  • Oh well done Fru, what an achievement. Now when you are feeling crappy just walk in the living room and smile! Just keep plodding away at the rest.

Emm I like your sentiments, its that kind of feeling of "well its Christmas Eve tomorrow and if its not done by now - stuff it". I am nearly organised, going to my parents for Christmas Dinner so no cooking to do which is really nice.

Went out last night with some old friends and actually didnt enjoy it as much as I thought. I felt sort of not part of the group any more and a bit out on a limb. Maybe I am just destined to be on my own! Whats worse is that it doesnt really bother me ..

Hope all is well with you Bearcub. Hubby is in the gardening/handyman business so he does have work to do but its mainly outdoors and its so wet that people dont want him trampling over their flowerbeds.

Hugs to everyone, hope you are not getting stressed out by Christmas preparations or messy homes. I am ready for an early night tonight I think, off to see whats on telly.

Bah just lost a long post, here's a slightly abridged version...

Hi messies, happy Christmas to all! I'm in a glorious mess here, due to a combination of having a week's enforced rest (chest infection) and a sudden case of "it must be done NOW" regarding sorting out the kitchen and doing a furniture rearrangement downstairs.

Ikea didn't have the kitchen unit thing I had saved up for (the next nearest thing was twice the price), and to cut a long story short I managed to find the ideal thing on ebay local bargains, 10 miles away and just the right price! It's now sitting in my car waiting to be reassembled. Right after I get things straightened out... :o

    What a mess!!!

Ok I'm off to try and make a bit more of a dent in it. It would help if I didn't wee myself slightly every time my cough starts up again :o:o:o

Hope all messies are well and happy! I will read back when I have a minute.

Fruball, Brilliant! Enjoy your sense of achievement in the LR, just don`t beat yourself up about the rest of the place now!
Bearcub, hope you enjoyed your horsey day.
YL, pity your night out was a bit flat, but don`t give up on it. Sometimes a group of old friends is like that, and I for one much prefer catching up with folks one at a time.
JPS - well done on the kitchen stuff. Don`t overdo it though, trying to get everything sorted while you`re not well. Hope you feel better soon. x
Shame about losing the first post, I love reading your long posts, but just as well this time or I`d probably be late for work.
    Happy Christmas Eve Messies.
I`m off to a different kind of chaos now....

    Afternoon Messies.

Great work, Fruball! You can rest easy now, and enjoy your Christmas.

Such a shame, YL, about your evening out. Of course there's the possibility that you're not 'out on a limb' and are destined to be on your own. Maybe, just maybe, it was a case of you feeling out of touch, and no doubt about it, where socialising's concerned, you were out of practice. Please consider meeting up with the same people again a couple of times, and you may find that you feel more comfortable with them, and them with you.

Great attitude, Emms. I've come to the same conclusion, what doesn't get done, just doesn't get done!

Jps, I hope you're feeling a lot better now, but don't overdo the work. Good news on the furniture front! :T

Great day yesterday at Olympia, made even better by the excellent taxi service. The taxi was only marginally more expensive thatn taking the train, but much less hassle, given that we'd need 2 trains and tube to get there - plus the ferry, of course. There were a couple of things that spoiled the day a little, one of which I'm going to complain about. The 'organisation' of getting people away from the arena at the end of the show was appalling, forming a huge crush that only directed people to the door, no matter whether they wanted to leave the building or not. Unfortunately, DD1 is prone to panic attacks, and the nearest steward wasn't exactly sympathetic. Just as well another was. I hate to think what it was like for any children amongst the crowd. In all the years we've been to Olympia, we've never experienced that crush before. Still, the day was very enjoyable for all that.
  • Hello everyone!!!

Very sorry for being MIA for sooo long!! I've had a quick read of your posts, but will have a better look over the next couple of days!

Well, down on the farm things are VERY VERY WET :( i'm living with a very grumpy Mr Farmer and next door to another very grumpy Mr Farmer (my dad) :(

Christmas prep has gone well, house is reasonably tidy and I'm very pleased to say that the kids have helped me enormously with the housework in the past couple of weeks. Had a bit of a mad week last week popping in and out of school with my 'chair of governors' hat on, the highlight was when the whole school sang Happy Birthday to me on Thursday afternoon before they all went home for xmas hols! :D

We're going next door for christmas lunch tomorrow, though i think i'll be doing it next year as my mum couldn't lift the turkey into the oven herself this time! Me and the girls prepped the veg etc this morning and took it round and we've been swimming this afternoon (hopefully they'll sleep tonight after an hour in the pool!);)
Shepherds pie for supper then i can put everything into the DW and then relax in front of fire with a little drinky:rotfl:

Bearcub - glad you enjoyed Olympia, i saw the grand national on the tv this morning, it always makes me smile!

Take care all, have a lovely day tomorrow!!

    Merry Christmas!!

Well - been working like a mad woman but have got a lot done. Lovely clean dining room and lounge. Kitchen still needs doing but I am clearing the benches down and am pleased with what I have done. I feel like I am three weeks behind as I have had both of the horrible bugs going about at the mo. But - sod it - more walk past than come in and we are going to have one hell of a Christmas!!!
  • Oh Messies!

I am so impressed with you all and jealous!

Here is a mess but we are at my sister's tomorrow so I am not giving a !!!! till I have to have them over on Boxing day........... had a similar thing to Jpscloud with suddenly wanting to rearrange - this was my room tho and it has been a mare. The new cage for the piggies was a mare too :(

Then my best friend's Mum died. It is a terrible thing to experience grief but it is so hard to someone you love suffer. Not as hard obviously but it has been a rough few days.

so the room got left, I went and did other stuff - finally saw her today.

tonight I need to wrap and tidy and sort the piggies out.

currently have period pains and a cup of tea tho so you know.........

    Happy Christmas! xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Hi FW. I hadn't realised that you and OH were next door to your parents. My dairy farmer friends are in a similar situation - good now that the parents are in their 80s.

Hugs, Buffy, such a difficult and sad position to be in, but I'm sure you're being all the support you can atm.

In case I don't get in tomorrow, have a good and, if possible, a Very Happy Christmas all messies!
  • Oh Buffy sorry to hear your news, its awful when it happens at this time of year too.

Nice to hear from you FW, this wet weather must be a nightmare and it sounds like its not getting any better.

Wise words as always Bearcub. I am out of practice, which is why I need to get out more. Have applied for a voluntary job so hoping to hear back from that after Christmas - it will do me good.

Happy Christmas Emm, Snookey and others. Emm hope you are getting some time off over the Christmas period.

If I dont get on here tomorrow hope you all have a lovely day. I am just waiting for our 11yo to go to sleep, he doesnt really believe any more but he wanted to put out the stockings and pillowcases so we are all going along with it!

    Night all x
