My home is a mess

Afternoon Messies.
Big hugs (virtual, of course, in this case!) to Emms, Buffy and Fruball, and i hope you're all well on the way to feeling a lot better.
Congrats to your DGD, Emms, for cooking her meal without making a mess. Long may it continue! sounds as if you're teaching her well.
Good to see you again, YL. Is your OH in the building/decorating trade? DD2's bf is, and he said that, although he's had a lot of work, it's suddenly dried up (which is more than most things atm!), as it does every year at this time. At least he's no longer reliant on his father for work.
Such good advice, sonastin! I used to get in a real state every year, wanting everything 'perfect' for Christmas. Of course, in the end, everything that needed doing got done, and what didn't get done probably wasn't necessary anyway. It's great to hear that another major stage of your house renovation is finished. Hopefully, you can look at the whole thing with somewhat less dread now. DD2 and her bf have that to go, although bf told me a couple of days ago that the house isn't too bad. That means there's no real hurry, and nothing really major that needs doing, except insulating the attic.
Has anyone seen/heard from Farmerswife or Cat501 recently?
Having had aforementioned visitors here this week, the house is reasonably clean and tidy. Mince pies are in the freezer, meat and veg in garage and/or fridge, puds still at Mum's until Tuesday, and Christmas cake waiting to be iced. Most prezzies are wrapped, just OH's to go. Tomorrow is a write-off as far as any de-messying or preparations are concerned as I'm off to the Olympia Horse Show with 9 others, but I do have to leave home at about 7am, which is horribly early for me.It'll be a long day, but should be very
. DD1 comes over on Christmas Eve, which is even more
:)

Hi Bearcub, I`ve been wondering about Cat501 a lot recently too, it seems ages since she last posted, I do hope she`s ok. FarmersWife too, of course, but I`ve just thought that with the vet`s job, the farm & the family and Christmas approaching she`s been so busy and not had time to post.
This IS a good time to say Love & ((hugs)) to ALL.... absent Messies, present Messies, Lurkers & folks who`ve just `popped in` occasionally, AND the good people who set up & run these Forums. As I`m now feeling sufficiently recovered to take a `medicinal` glass of wine - I will raise it to the good health of Our Founder & all his `Foundlings` !!!0 -

Cat501 is on my FB and she has posted recently so I can confirm that she is ok. I will let her know you were asking after her and get her to check in0

Thanks, Fruball. I've sent her a PM, as we've been in touch before.0

Christmas Messy Status Report....
LR flat surfaces all dusted/wiped/cleared. (That`s really more amazing than it sounds in this house! DGD has helped, Bless`er.)
All pressies wrapped except DGD`s, she did those too, with a little help.
Several Seasonal phone calls made - being off work has felt like `borrowed time` (I always feel guilty no matter how rough I feel!) but I`ve made the most of it in terms of `giving` my time - so this year I phoned them rather than them phone me (usually when I`m just in from work Christmas Eve Or Christmas Day, and longing to keep it short and too wellied to enjoy a good chat) so had a good natter & catch-up today.
NO cards done for neighbours yet,
I`ll do them this evening and DGD & I will nip out & put them through letterboxes...
UPSTAIRS - still untidy Chaos, but liveable with till after Christmas so never mind!
Bathroom & upstairs loo - cleaned (stardrops new squirty anti-bacterial smells nice)
Downstairs loo, same.
Kitchen - pretty good except the floor. I`ve `patch-cleaned` the worst bits, sat on a little low plastic stool rather than hands& knees jobbie. Don`t ask - it just seemed `easier` than getting the mop & bucket. The bit near kitchen door & little passage by back door is still seriously minging enough for a whole dynasty of mings. AND, I`m glad I didn`t get that far, because it`s been raining all day, and if I`d cleaned it it would be as bad again now - humans & animals of THIS household would have seen to that, but then DS`s pal has come to visit again - via the muddiest local short-cut, in Big Boots - which fair do`s he has taken off and left on the minging patch, so no need to be grumpy with him....Peace on Earth, `cos I hadn`t cleaned the bit he would have trashed...
I`ve cooked a large half-price leg of lamb, I thought we`d have had it sooner but with lurgies around we didn`t, and there`s no room in freezer. I`m thinking lamb butties all round, and will give DS & pal a plate of sliced meat/bread/pickles in DS`s room, so they don`t trashj kitchen again...0 -
Fruball that`s great news, thankyou x. Cat if you`re reading this DO drop us all a post hun, and - I`m still loving the pong! Think of you when I use it!0

Emm glad to see your feeling better.
Bearcub enjoy the horse show.
Iv wrapped my last present, thankfully.
Defrosted both freezers . Ashamed to say that the one in the kitchen had more ice than food.
Had another general clean.
Im now off for a shower and sleep.

Evening Messies.
I am now grinding to a halt. Done what had to get done by this evening, (cards to neighbours, pressies to next-door, everything wrapped & final bit of shopping (milk from local co-op) and now there`s nothing more I can do till I get home from work (long-day) tomorrow night.
It feels good - not just that I`ve met the deadline, but that the deadline is here, now!
DGD is lurgied again, and wilting but cheerful.
Upstairs is still chaos but slightly better than yesterday, and it`ll keep. We watched the Christmas Grumpies on i-player last night, it was very therapeutic.
I am now officially looking forward to Boxing Day!!
((Hugs)) to all. x0 -
Hello all :hello:
I cannot believe that I can actually say this but...... drum roll please......
MY LIVING/DINING ROOM IS CLEAN AND TIDY!!!
This was no small job as it has been disgraceful for over a year  and I haven't had people over because of itbut it was caused by depression so I won't beat myself up about it now.
Anyway, my children (6yrs) and I spent 3 hours on it today, filled 4 black sacks of crap  AND took it to the dump!
I smile when I walk in here now instead of wanting to go to bed to escape it all!
I didn't think I had it in me to get it done so, to anyone else feeling overwhelmed, this is how I got it done... I started by the door and moved back through the room filling bin bags with anything that I didn't love or need, until I got to the back of the room and there I just stacked the boxes that I can't get rid of. I tidied those so they took up half the space and then cleared the table.
Result - One very happy Fru :j
(Just the hall/stairs/landing, my room and kids room to do now... which are probably worse than this was)
I WILL get this done by New Year :j Determination and bloody mindedness will motivate me0
