Hi all
Emm, nice to hear you are getting a decent break. Make sure you get some down time and a bit of a rest!
I am so tired today, had to be up early to take our doggy for a training session - which went really well - but I just seem to be juggling lots of different things at the moment and never quite achieving what I want to get done.
Oh and someone has just told me that Christmas Day is 5 weeks today. I have done nothing, absolutely nothing, not even made my cake. That is so unlike me and its all going to catch up with me soon. I just cant get inspired somehow.
Thanks for the kind words about DS as always - you do make me feel better, and I really need it at the moment!0 -
Done 3 loads in dishwasher, and changed the beds and done the washing.
Made 4 christmas cards yesterday.... The box of crafting stash is going down...
Had shopping delivered today, and put it all away straight away lol, and then cleaned and changed the cat litter tray - OMG I hate that job lol.0 -
Today has been a really productive day chez sonastin! Took the day off because we had an appointment to get the water meter fitted - they finally succeeded on the 7th appointment! Appointment was scheduled between 8 & 1 so I had to be up and dressed for 8 (and obviously that meant that they didn't arrive until nearly 1!) and couldn't waste the day off with a lie in.
So 4 loads of washing done and last one is in tumbly drier. Would have managed 5 but had to take a break while they switched the water off! Also baked a batch of cookies and some bread rolls. Had a go at pickling eggs for OH's xmas pressie (thanks again for the idea Emm!) and even found somewhere to hide the jar without fear of OH accidentally knocking it over and spilling vinegar everywhere. Also made some yummy soup for lunch and HM beefburgers for dinner. Started filling spice jars for family xmas pressies (Ma, Bro&S-I-L and cousin are all getting the Takeaway Secret cookbook plus a hamper of the herbs & spices and unusual ingredients that feature in the recipes). And then OH finished working and came in and henried the whole house and tidied some of his carp away so the whole place is looking pretty spic&span just now. In fact, the only thing left to do is the bathroom. OH is watching real junk on TV now so might just go and do that in a sec!
Quite worried by how organised for xmas I am at the moment. It helps that I'm giving the same presents to loads of people. Both grandmothers and aunt&uncle are getting HM cookies so just need a box for them and a baking session nearer the time. Still need some of the spices for the hampers but I've got the jars, hampers and books already. That just leaves my nieces. The 2 y.o.'s birthday present wasn't delivered in time for her birthday so ended up getting an emergency carppy toy for her birthday and the nursery rhyme book&cd is now being delivered by father christmas. And in the toy store getting the emergency birthday toy, I decided that the 3 y.o. could have a blackboard & easel. Didn't pick it up then because I couldn't carry it home on that trip and I wasn't sure if she had one but just need to go and pick it up at some point. OH has picked out all his presents (except the eggs) so no hassle there (just a couple of small hand tools - nothing pricey). I find its the figuring out what to get that is the hassle, not the actual shopping. So now I know what everyone is having, I can relax. Which is what is scaring me because I'm sure I've forgotten something or someone!0 -
Hello messies!
It's been a very productive day here, i decided to tidy and clean our bedroom  i started at 9am and was finished by 11.30!! I've got several bags of clothes for the clothes bank, the wheelie bin was topped up with tut that i just don't need and the whole room got a thorough clean and vacuum. I can't wait to go to bed tonight haha!
Sonastin - you are very organised for xmas, i love the idea of the Takeaway Secret hampers, i might do that next year!! I've made mini christmas cakes for my aunties, and they usually get some homemade jam/marmalade/rum butter.
Tomorrow i'm going to tackle the bathroom.......:rotfl:
Big hugs to all!!
JxxxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
I did a small thing that I think will make a big difference yesterday. I am always losing my purse in my bag. It drives DH mad when we have to return to the car for it. So I rescued an old bag from the donation pile, cut it down a bit and sewed some binding on (it's one of those bags that's made out of an old rice sack so my hand is killing!) and now it is a pouch that fits into my bigger bag. Plus if I'm using a different bag I can just remove the pouch and stick it into the other bag! I'm going to keep my keys, purse, phone lipbalm etc in it all the time so I don't have to turn the house upside down looking for them all the time.
DH's lego has been dispatched *yay*
Today I need to rehang the bedroom curtains as I didn't do it yesterday, do some quilting and general cleaning and tidying. Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning All! Wednesday already - where is my week off going?!
YL, I`ve had some nice lie-ins, but nothing major done de-messywise. I fear I`m resting too much! (nice though!)
Godiva - welcome. I hate putting shopping away too.
Sonastin, I like the idea of several people getting the same pressie, I do a sort of `stationery selection box` for all the kids I buy for - that always goes down well. My biggest quandary every year is finding pressies for DS`s GF, for his ex (DiL), and my best friend. If only those 3 were into cooking I`d be landed!
Yesterday I delivered DD`s early pressie, the slow cookers, and they were chuffed to bits, and started using it there & then - I also took her some dumpling mix, 2 packs of chicken thighs & a stewpack to Christen the big SC with! I ended up doing a SC chicken thigh curry for us too, using HM chicken broth & some thighs from freezer, and I took out a lump of pork for a pork casserole for tonight. Will get that going soon.
I also spent another hour upstairs doing a bit more sorting on Project Bedroom. It`s progress, albeit slow progress! Will do some more today, and must do some shredding. LR & kitchen are ok-ish, will do for today anyway, so I can get on with a bit more of the doings upstairs.

I know the feeling of having a messy home. I know that we can clean it up. We just need the courage and will.0

Afternoon Messies!
I start back at work tomorrow, how rubbish! I've had a rest in the truest sense of the word, it will be good to get moving again. I'm the same a you Emm, having a lot of lie-ins and slacking on tackling the mess!
This morning, I've managed to have breakfast, have a shower and get ready. ha.
After lunch, I will have a general clean up (paperwork, hang clothes on the hangers and not just hang them over the wardrobe lol)
I'm trying, I promise!
Speak to you later0 -
The sun has finally come out so I've done a few bits and bobs outside, put a load of laundry on, hung the curtains, cleaned the bunny pen, swept and henry'd downstairs, tidied the pantry, put some laundry away and made the beds in the main and spare rooms. I've also started an menu outline for next month, the budget is going to be very tight and I want to buy a few treats too so an outline, if not a plan, will help.0

I`m allowing myself a 10-minute break. I just did a load of sorting/shredding, got rid of a whole BIG shopping bag full to the top (when the shredder had to stop & cool off I got on with sorting paper - some of it didn`t need shredding, which is just as well!)
I`m taking it all to the paper skip next (it`s quite near here) in case it gets spilled.
Also washed & hung 1 WM load, will put another load in when I get back.
Pork, leek & fennel casserole in SC is smelling nice now, have to empty hearth & make a fire soon. 10 mins up. Zooms off...0
