Hi all, hugs to Buffy and others feeling a bit bleugh.
Hope the news is good from the hospital Gilly. I was struck down by a virus and few years back and was really poorly, then it developed into glandular fever. I soon made a full recovery though. Wishing you all well.
Alec would you like to swap your DH for one that is hopelessly undomesticated? Even for a few days???
So - 6 bin bags full of clothes collected by MIND this morning. I am a little ashamed to admit that I removed 23 (yes 23) t-shirts from my 11yo sons drawers last night. All were too small/too tatty or just not liked. This didnt include several old school shirts that got dumped too.
I seem to have spent most of the weekend sorting wardrobes or doing housework. This made me fed up and grumpy last night but I am glad its done now.
So far today I have sorted the never ending washing mountain, done some paid work, taken the dog for a walk, done some of OHs book-keeping and had a quick tidy around. Going to get the hoover out now for half an hour. Roast chicken for tea so need to get on with that too.
Hope everyone is having a good day x0 -
Afternoon Messies.
I love the sound of your sewing projects, alec e, and I hope you get the quilt finished. I used to do a lot of cross-stitch embroidery, but I have so many hobbies and commitments now, that I've not done any for ages. So much for retirement! My main hobbies are now the horses and card-making.
FA, your shopping trip must have been very frustrating. I have heard that a lot of Tescos 'schemes' aren't always what they appear to be. I agree that there's something not quite right about the job description. It is illegal to make someone redundant, only to take someone else on to do virtually the same job, even if it is at a considerably lower salaryBearcub where do you live? its sounds idyllic!
West corner of the Isle of Wight, donna. And, yes, to us, it is quite idyllic. It took us 16 years, for one reason and another, from the first thought of it, to get here. Our village is maybe populated enough now to be a small town, rather than a village. It's been through a really tough time, and got very tatty with a lot of empty shops - you know how it is. But, very gradually, it's picking up, and we have a local baker, butcher, fishmonger and ironmonger, plus a number of other independent shops. And we have a large-ish Co-op (to be larger, if they get planning permission) and a Sainsbury Local. No greengrocer now, but the Co-op sells excellent prodcue, including a lot of locally produced fruit and veg. It all helps local farmers/producers!
Feel really cross with myself. I was pulling out of the parking space at the Co-op, and just caught the car next to mine. Didn't do the other car much damage (couple of silver marks), but I've scuffed my bumper, taking off paint, and gaining a fair amount of dark blue paint instead. As OH said, it's minimal, but I'm still cross!Still, I had a good time at the drop-in centre this morning before that
. Have put away all of last night's washing-up, and will sort washing for a WM load later.
Oh, and hello, YL. You posted while I was typing!0 -
Morning Messies!
NOTHING done here yesterday except a quick `leftovers` supper when I got home from work last night. I`m out again in a few minutes, but this is just till 1pm again, then 3 off. Project Bedroom will soon re-commence...
Have a good Tuesday all.x0 -
Morning everyone,
So far I have aired and made the bed, wiped over the bathroom, put some laundry away, done two loads of laundry, put the dishes away and wiped the worksurfaces. I want to have a general tidy upstairs which should only take a couple of minutes, sweep downstairs, dust the dining area and sweep the bunny area. Then I need to get on with the quilt.
Have a good day everyone whatever you're doing0 -
In my own experience, I have just focused on one task/room at a time. That way you do not become over whelmed by everything around you.
If you haven't used things in the last year, do you really need them?0 -
Hi I'm joining here cos the fly lady thread is SCAREY !!!!
My house is a tip due to having 6 dogs and 4 cats and I'm constantly cleaning mucky paw prints . I've been reading some of this thread and thought it was time I delurked . I've started the baby steps and every time Ive gone to make a cuppa I've cleaned something in the kitchen . I bought a small bookcase for £9 off gumtr@@ and put it on one of the counters for my storage jars . That started me looking at the rest of the kitchen . I've done little every time the kettles been on ( I'm a tea genie) and am now pleased its looking so tidy . All that's left to do is take down the light shades and wash them - they are metallic- and wash top of the units and the floor and that's one room done ( WOOOHOOOO )
Now starting to look at the living room but just don't know where to start
I suffer from black dog visits when I can't be arrisd to do anything and then even lower cos place is a tip .
Hope you don't mind me joining in
Jobs for tomorrow :-
Wash light shades in kitchen
Wash top of kitchen units
Wash top of fridge freezer
Wash kitchen floor
Wash kitchen windows
Think that's enough vos I'm on night shift tomorrow too
Off for shower and then dog training may be back later ( sorry for the long post)Date restarted DFW 30/04/16
Money owed :-
Vet £700
DMP too much ( need to find out how much )
That's it0 -
Hello danetastic and welcome. Don't worry about the length of post - it's difficult to encourage/give advice if we don't know a few details of your problem. Baby steps is (or should that be 'are'?) a very good to start, and it sounds as if you've done a brilliant job on the kitchen :T. As far as the living room's concerned, maybe try this. First thing in the morning, walk into the living room, and what's the first thing that you dislike messy-wise to get your attention? That's what you should start with, whether it be piles of magazines, dust, dirty floor, whatever - start there. The thing that upsets you the most won't necessarily be the first thing that would upset someone else, but it's what upsets you that's important. And I know that pets can be a huge problem, but we wouldn't be without them, would we?
You've done well, alec e! How's the quilt coming on?
Today, I've done very little except clean the bathroom and change our bedding. I will do some ironing while watching The Paradise. Must clean the kitchen sink and draining board tomorrow, as it's horrible atm. Too late now, as OH will be home to cook dinner soon.0 -

I would love to live in your village....
Oops about the car - will it cost you much to fix or is it something DH can do?0
