Ellie, Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest. You're just aking the whole thing seriously! :T

Oh don't worry, have taken it veeeeeery easy today :rotfl: I got up at 11.30am (a bit ashamed to admit it on a public forum :o )
Quick up date, hell of a busy week next week, but ordered the guinea pigs a new cage and me a new desk, this *should finally sort out the bedroom from hell. The cage should be easier to clean out and I also bought an indoor run for the Gerbils who need some attention! The run will also do for the piggy wiggys when being clean out. The desk should be bigger enough for the gerbils to live on as well as me to work on and then I will be happy to work upstairs.

Another week of living in chaos but hopefully that will change.

    night all xxxx

Yay, another small critters lover :j I have 2 guinea pigs as well (yes, in addition to the rabbits, the cat and the fish :rotfl: ): I wouldn't live without them. How many do you have Buffy?
  • Hi everyone!

I haven't posted on here for a while, just had a quick read of the thread!

Things are ticking along nicely, apart from the weather!! I've made a real effort to keep up my routine of keeping on top of the washing and ironing. The chimneys have been swept for the 1st time in 6 years :o!! This week i've got to shop for birthday presents - mr farmer, my god daughter and my best friends daughter, the dog is going in for the snip on Tuesday morning and then i'm defo going to sort the bathroom cupboard!!!

    Hope everyone is ok!!

    J
    xx

Oh my you're good. What is that !ironing" you're talking about? I don't know what that is :rotfl: (joking aside, I have a small hill soon to be mountain in the bedroom :o )

    Hi everyone,

I have quite a lot to do today as we my parents came to stay at the weekend so there's quite a bit of laundry and stuff to do. My dad and DH cleared the garden yesterday so it looks bare but there is a lot more space (they cut 4ft off the height and width of the bushes) so I'm going to plant lots and lots and lots of bulbs in the beds that have appeared from under the tangle of bushes.

So I'm having a 15 minute do in each room today and that will be that, then I'm going to go to the town for some bird food and bulbs. Have a great day.

eta I had 3 portmerion vases in the donation box so I offered them to my mum and she took them home. I would have gladly given them to charity as we just don't have anywhere for them but I am happy she took them instead.

That sounds like Heaven to me :D

And I'm so sorry about your hamster. We used to have 4 and it was awful when they passed away :( It's always terribly painful when furry friends have to go :(

Ah the dreaded parental stay... I always clean like crazy before someone visits, but I remember once going into a frenzy because my grandmother (think OS domestic goddess here!) was coming for Christmas. I never felt so nervous :o

I've always been very untidy, my room when I was younger was always a tip, you couldn't see the floor or anything so my parents are more than used to the state I can allow things to get into. So now I'm reasonably sorted they think it's amazing, well I actually think they believe DH does it :rotfl:

Even when I was still very very very very very untidy my mum used to say they'd come to see us, not the house so they didn't care anyway.

Haha, funny you should say that because I used to be exactly the same :rotfl: But my mum is even worse than me, so I don't really mind when she comes and stay. It's my grandmother I'm always afraid to disappoint :rotfl: She knows I'll never be as tidy and thrifty as she is, but I am great at needle work so she turns a blind eye :o

Seriously though, my parents' house is so messy, and the mess is linked to so many unhappy memories, that I have vowed never to let my house go like my parents did. I won't go into details but suffice to say that keeping my house reasonably tidy is a way for me to "protect" myself from some aspects of the past.

I'm the first hoarder in my family so I don't have any of that baggage, although I do know where the hoarding came from. If you haven't read the "Hoarding not just on tv" thread it's well worth a look. There are quite a few of us there and many have family stuff going on.

I'm lucky in that although all my family are tidy and sensible types none of them care how my house looks, especially my grandparents, they're just happy that I'm happy. Anyone who judged me for the state of my house wouldn't be invited round, no matter who they are. My house, my rules, if people don't like it they can pee off.
