  • Hi Messies!
Buffy, good to hear from you again. The plan for your bedroom sounds great, but I`m so sorry to hear about your little hammy. Over the last 30 years we had a long succession of hamsters (and rats & mice, and, once only, a gerbil) when the kids were around, and I got more attached to them (except the gerbil, who hated me) than the kids did! There was one particular hammy who died when the Watership Down theme was all over the radio etc - and I used to burst into tears whenever they played `Bright Eyes`.
FW - I can`t imagine not getting the chimney swept every year, I love my open fire but have a horror of the thought of a chimney fire. But then, I have a horror of the whole concept of ironing too! Anyhow, well done on both.
Re the Hoarding/De-cluttering thing - I can give anything away quite happily, it`s the chucking out bit that`s hard. So, I suppose if there are really no takers for a thing then it really MUST be junk....
Taliahmai - thanks, yes, my hand is fine now, just a couple of little shiny patches but the skin didn`t break. And it survived a long day shift yesterday with mucho hand-washing!
I didn`t wake till 11 this morning, but no apologies because I did a bit of a `marathon` yesterday. Up before 6am, a busy 13 & a half hour shift, got home 9.30, made a fire & did supper, ate it watching Dr Who on i-player, and THEN walked Daftie-dog, washed up and made a lamb curry for tonight!! Didn`t get to bed till nearly 2 am.
Now have 3 days off...and Best Of All - the new rota is out, and Sister has discovered I`m still owed a week Annual Leave so inserted it in first week of new rota. I`m SO chuffed - now I can plan ANOTHER week of wonders to perform & not get around to half, as usual!
  • Good Morning Messies! Where are you all?
Ok,, I`m only on here this early because I`ve just dropped the car off for a pre-winter check-over.Last week I tetrised some clothes, winter stuff more accessible, I got the chimney swept, coal delivered & a stash of kindling wood in the caravan of Doom, yesterday got the logs delivered, today the car...
    That`s my `winter list` sorted.
Which leaves me free to fret (or not) about Christmas...and try to get some proper de-cluttering done before the weather gets any worse!
Yesterday I did a thorough downstairs floors clean...not just Henry & the mop, I got a cloth in all the corners. It looks great as long as you don`t lift your gaze above knee-level!
I also filed Daftie-dog`s toenails yesterday afternoon after trimming them the other day. We sat outside for this, me feeding her a chunk of pilchard after each foot was done. Next door`s kids came to watch. Daftie-dog was in her element with all the attention!
I`m now going to do a `20-minute timer` binge upstairs, 2 bags - aiming at laundry and rubbish first.
    Have a good day all!

    Morning!

I've just been having a plan this morning. Did a stocktake and wrote the shopping list. Had a quick blitz through wiping, picking up and tidying as I go. Time for coffee now then a few more bits and bobs. Nothing specific just anything that needs doing.

Had a no spend day yesterday which was great, large spend today but then hopefully nothing for a week. Fingers crossed. Have a good day everyone.

    Hi All

Sorry for the swear words, but ........... I am unofficially joining the flyladies for a couple of weeks, to help me get back into the swing of things in readiness for a return to work.

I am doing their level 1 tasks each day this week, with some washing and ironing thrown in for good measure. Then next week I will add level 2.

The music is on and loud - Del Amitri anyone :j

    Have fun gilly,

I actually love flylady, I just find the way it's made more complex on the flylady thread here a bit odd and unknowable!

    Afternoon Messies.

Emms, perhaps we should submit 'to tetris' to the Oxford Dictionary compilers. They probably all have immaculate houses, though, and wouldn't understand. :rotfl: Great news about the week off. 13 and a half hour day, ridiculous! How long a break do you get in that? When DD2 was in the pub trade, if she was working the evening shift, she didn't finish work until 1 am or later then, sometimes, she'd have to be up at 7.30 to check in a beer delivery. At least she was living onsite at the time. I'm so glad she gave that up!

Buffy, it sounds as if you've worked out the plan for the animals and your own space pretty well. And you've even worked out a double use for the run. :T Brilliant! Sorry to hear about the hamster. They're not animals I have any experience of, although we did have one 'on the loose' in one of the school biology labs once. We did have loads of gerbils there (firmly in a large cage), too, but, being a chemist, I could say, with clear conscience, that they weren't my responsibility. ;)

Gilly, I hope the flylady thread gets you back on track. I've only ever once looked in there briefly, and their approach just terrified me. Struck me as a tad OTT but I guess, if you really got behind with everything, that it could give you a real shove.

Taliamai, did you get anything done in the end?

Alec e, I think sometimes, a general clean/clear is all we need to do, and the 'big stuff' can be done when we're more motivated. That's my excuse, anyway.

Cleaned the bathroom first thing (become a habit now), and vacuumed while the cats were out. Cleaned the hob yesterday, and will probably have to again later, as OH has been cooking.

You know those "organising ideas" they have in magazines and nice looking blogs? Well today I used one in my own home. I thought they were just things that happened elsewhere and not in the real world but no, anyone can do it! I have one of those extending curtain poles and I put it in my pantry so now I have somewhere to hang my tablecloths. Having somewhere to hang them might mean I use them occasionally now too.
