I used this on our very black sealant in our shower and it has transformed it.

It does smell but the good thing is you can just spray it on and leave it and shut the door. I sprayed my sealant and left it on to work for two or three hours and then rinsed it off. Then I sprayed more on and left it again. I thought the sealant needed to be re-done but apart from one or two odd stubborn patches it is all white again after using the cleaner. I used it over the course of a two or three days leaving it for whatever time I had in between going to work, until it was clean.

Just wanted to say that the cleaner spray arrived today and I have given the black gunge two goes so far. You're right - it has made more difference than any other thing I've tried. Some of the gunge is almost gone entirely, other has gone from black to light brown so I guess that's progress! I shall do as you suggested and give it a good go over the next few days. Thanks so much for your suggestion - it has been the best £7 I've spent for years.

    Hi All

I have absolutely no idea how you all remember each person's news but for those like me who read but do not always post you are a great incentive to keep demessying  A little too early for beer but I have never sussed out all this smiley malarkey.

Thank you all for the wishes on my recovery I am getting there slowly but wish I was back at work as going brain dead having done all the little admin type jobs that were needed at home. All filing is up to date, shredding is up to date, keeping on top of DS bank account is a task all of its own, there is constantly money going out at the moment but the student loan does not go in for a few days so we are subsidising him and having to transfer funds every day but will be recalling it when the loan goes in. Computer is up to date, defragged, disk cleaned up etc. Online banking is all up to date, perhaps a new SOA could be the order of the day and some more wedding "stuff".

    Have a good day all.

Hello all, a big welcome to all new messies and delurkers, and big thanks to the regulars for posting and keeping my chin up!

I have a day off today as it's a training day the support team doesn't have to do. I need it so much that if it had been a normal work day I'm not sure I would have been able to go in - I am very under the weather with my hormones again and might be fighting off a cold too.

So I'm taking the hint from my brain and body, and having a "fleece day" - something like a duvet day except I'm doing little bits of jobs if I feel like it! A few loads of washing, to stop the mountain building again, and keep the kitchen bathroom and loo clean as I go.

I am sitting here having a lovely lazy breakfast in my fleece nightie and pj bottoms, with a hot water bottle in the small of my back, and feel all warm and fuzzy now.

I'm putting the heating on today, but will try not to have it on over the weekend to save a bit of money. I think I need another cup of coffee now, and will play a bit of my online game while I surf about

I hope all my fellow messies have a really good day, hugs and love to you all :)

A fellow messy with house bunnies :j They can be quite destructive! I can't wait to move in our new house where it is laminate throughout downstairs :D

Goodbye to the morning chore of trying to get the hay out of the carpet in their "bedroom" :rotfl:

:j How many buns do you have, what kind and what kind of set up do you have or are they free-range?

I have two, a big grey lop and a brown & white English, they live in the living room in an 8ft x 4ft wood and wire pen, we only bought that about a month ago prior to that they were in a similar size pen made of NIC panels.

Yesterday I started to reseal the bath. Oh my goodness what a task. Still haven't removed it all due to the very odd way the bath had been sealed so I'm going to get the rest off today and get it sealed this afternoon so we can use the shower at the weekend. Other than that I'll just be doing a bit of everything today.

    Have a good day everyone.

Nice set up you have. I love reading about other people who take good care of their bunnies. They're so often neglected :( I have 2 as well, male and female, part lion head. The female is a tiny little thing but definitely the alpha :D They are free range but stay in the kitchen when we're not around to check on them. I absolutely don't trust them after they dug a hole in the living room carpet one night :rotfl: But even with a whole kitchen to themselves (and this is a big kitchen!), they still feel hurt when I close the door before we go to sleep/go out :rotfl: Don't you just love bunnies? :D In the next house, they'll be in the kitchen again, with lounge privileges when we're around. But it won't take me nearly as long to clean after them! The thing is, they're very clean creatures, but it is the ha: it goes everywhere!!

Regarding the sealant: do you have a steam cleaner? I (accidentally) discovered that steam cleaners are brilliant to losen bathroom sealant :o

Hopefully I'll soon experience the ultimate de-messying fantasy: we are trying to buy our first home, which means starting afresh! I have already made a list of things to clean before the removal men arrive (we're in rented so we don't have to move in on the day of completion). I just CAN't wait and hope I can keep the house clean! I have also been decluttering like a maniac, as it helps with the mess. Here is hoping for a clean, clutter free, cosy home for this winter :)

PS: you're all working so hard in your homes, you put me to shame. Now that we know we're going to leave this place, I just can't be bothered as I'm waiting for the final big clean before handing back the keys to the EA :o
  • No, I don't have a steam cleaner. Every time I clean the lino in the bunny pen I declare I'm going to get one but never do.k

I don't really like locking the buns away, but they spend quite a lot of time on their shelves in the pen - we used some NIC panels to build levels, they like to climb on them and bunny-hen away in the afternoon. The door is open the whole time I'm at home so they can run around the living and dining rooms. But as they'd been in rescue for 9 months they're quite fond of their own space so I don't feel too bad about it. They don't really like either of us and are quite happy to entertain each other. The white one chewed a big hole in the back of one of the sofas earlier this year so they are under close supervision these days.

Our previous bun was free range as she went crazy thumping and rattling the bars of the cage when we first has her. But she was a people bunny and loved to sit on the sofa with us and give us a good lick and a fuss. This pair couldn't be more different, especially as she was a Rex so there wasn't the tons of flipping fur all over the place all the time!

Sorry for hijacking with talk of bunnies everyone.

I love the talk of bunnies :D In my view all pets have every right to be on the messy thread, as they are major messiers and members of our families to boot!

  • I`m always interested in pet talk too, but I had to google the NIC panels, never heard of them before. Where do you get them?
    JPS, enjoy your `fleece day`!
Ellie, good luck with your house-move preparations.
Bearcub - your Garfield with bells on sounds a good idea.

No de-messying here today - I burnt my hand last night (little frying-pan in oven, took it out with oven gloves, covered it with foil to `rest` the meat, then grabbed the handle to move it aside WITH MY BARE LEFT HAND! ) I will not repeat what I said, but straight under cold tap, then spent the rest of the evening clutching a succession of wet cloths rotated in freezer....no blisters but a couple of sore `cooked` looking patches on palm & middle 2 fingers. (And I`m left-handed.) My UTTER STUPIDITY has upset me more than the pain! I think if I`m careful with it (keeping it out of detergent etc) it might be ok for when I`m back at work (Sunday, just one long one then another 3 off.)
Have eldest DGD here this weekend, will enlist her help!
Last few days have been fairly productive though.
Chimney swept, coal delivered, stash of 6 sacks of kindling from farmshop in caravan of Doom, and log delivery early next week, just time to sort remnants in log shelter by then.
Some clothes sorting, though not the organised wardrobes I`d hoped to do, just winter stuff more accessible etc., some summer stuff put away, a small bag for CS so far but when DGD is here there`ll be a bit more that can go.
Need to book car in now for pre-winter checks next week.
Have a nice day all! xx

Ouch to the hand - I am almost certain you know the tip about covering with cling film

Take care and any mess can wait x
