My home is a mess

OH told me this morning that he's thinking of trading me in for a couple of cats he saw yesterday! I'm the allergic one, but also don't like cats. He hasn't cottoned on to the fact that I'm also allergic to dogs because I'd quite happily take meds if he'd agree to having a dog! But as he was badly bitten as a child, we remain resolutely pet-free. Probably for the best as we haven't really got the money to spare anyway at the moment! Its one thing when you've already got the animals but its foolish to choose to shell out when things are tight.
House has become such a dump that I've kinda stopped going home other than at bedtime! Got to go home earlier tonight but only because friend is meeting me there so we can go to local for dinner and then walk down the old railway line (nature reserve now). Have weekend off from visiting OH this weekend so might start dealing with the mess. Well, half-a-weekend off anyway. I've got something on for most of the day Saturday so Friday night is definitely free, plus early morning and late afternoon Sat. OH wanted me to help with a job Sunday but he's already made a start as he figured a way to do it single-handed. So might go visit Sunday or might tell him I can't come to play. I'll miss him if I don't go see him but the stress of living with the mess is combining with work stress and I'm struggling to cope. I think I need to take the time to sort it out. But then maybe I'll just waste the day chilling - equally important but I could do that with OH so... I'll figure it out tomorrow. My answer to everything atm!
Sorry I haven't been posting much. Haven't been switching the puter on at home because I'm not there & just about have time at lunchtime to lurk and keep up with (most of) what you're all up to. Friend that's coming round tonight is ex-teacher who went into working support and then back into supply when the money ran out and then back into support because she prefers it even though it pays less and then back into supply and then... - I know term started this week but I have no idea what job she's doing at the moment or where she's working. I think her ideal job would be teacher in the small classes of a referral unit but they don't come up very often. I have no idea why anyone would choose that job but it seems to suit her!
YL - glad to hear you've agreed to take the job. Even though you're working at home, I am sure that it will a) require more interaction with other adults so its not *just* about the kids now and b) give you some intellectual stimulation. Its all about variety and they say a change is as good as a rest. One day of doing something different will make the other days easier, I'm sure.0 -
Afternoon Messies.
So, Alec e, did you do it? Did you get rid of the covers?oh, don't think i haven't thought about it!
I did once suggest we get a cat and himself could live in the shed to avoid the cat hair. It didn't go down too well!
BB, our DD2 was in a drama group in her teens, and had made her mind she wanted to go to drama school, but the tutors at the FE college told her that she should go to uni, and have drama as a hobby. Nice people, but it wasn't their place to say that, even if they did think it would have been a waste. In the end, she did neither. She's said ocasionally that she'd like to get back to it, but no chance atm.
Sonastin, is your going out a way of getting out of de-messying? That's only partly serious but, as we all know, when there's de-messying to be done, it's very easy to find an excuse.
I can understand people not liking cats, or not being keen on them. One of my closest friends sees cats as mouse and rat catchers only, and much prefers dogs. DD2's bf doesn't like cats (neither did her ex), but he has to put up with them here, and he does.
De-messying chez Bearcub. Hmm, not much, but I'd have had a lot to do if we'd not moved everything breakable before we went to bed last night. I think the cats were partying!Anyway, I must wipe down the kitchen work surfaces and the hob, the first because both cats have taken a stroll across them, and the second because it's 'orrible and sticky. I've put dried washing away, and I need to dust.

I did. I wrapped the portmerion vases up in the sheets and took them to the cs. Luckily for some reason the town was really busy today so there was no messing about dealing with the vols telling me that the things were nice and all that stuff.
It was so busy today I even had to wait for 10 minutes in the craft shop which is unheard of. Learned a bit too much about an old woman's knicker elastic but there you go! This afternoon I have also basted my quilt, I think it's still going to be a bit wonky I think but hey ho. Got to the end of my first thread and realised I didn't know how to bury the knot in the quilt so the internet saves me again!0 -

:rotfl: Given how cheap 'knickers' are these days, you wouldn't think people would bother with replacing the elastic, would you? Well done for doing the quilt. To me, it'd be a really fiddly job, but I guess that messing around with tiny bits of paper (as I do) would be a fiddly job for you.
Hob cleaned, as are work surfaces. Haven't done the dusting yet.0 -
Just wanted to show you my new kitten that we got from the cat rescue three weeks ago. His name is Max and he's 11 weeks old now, ten weeks when this picture was taken. I think he's a strong candidate for "cutest new cat" don't you?
(He's a holy terror btw. Ran out of his basket as soon as he got home and flung himself on the older of our two adult cats. And has hardly stopped since, except for naps.)
And yes, my desk is a mess!Val.0 -

The bigger of my two adult cats is 7kg and on top of that he's a long haired cat so he looks bigger than he is. He looks like a small grey and white sheep walking through the house, lol. The other one is just big....but not as big as your beast. What a gorgeous big cat!Val.0 -
Hi Messies, I typed a LONG post earlier, then had to rush around like a daftie - the post disappeared...am still rushing around like a daftie (considering this is my day `off`!!! ) I do have another day `off` tomorrow, first time 2 consecutive days off in a while - but up early for physio (still getting my neck stretched!) and much of tomorrow will likely be taken up with forward planning/cooking etc for the four days` `marathon` shifts that follow. Sorry, so much I wanted to respond to, so much I wanted to say to various folks here, rspecially re the `friends` thing... hope I`ll get to catch up sometime soon.
Lovely pics, thanks for those. xx (((hugs))) to all, needful or not.
catch up soon, hopefullyxx0
