My home is a mess

Afternoon Messies and welcome Lavandula. Of course, you can join us. Working seems to have one of two effects - either it pushes you to try and get everything done and wear yourself out, or you give up trying. I was still working part-time, and OH fulltime, when we took on loan the horse that's now ours. It was a manic epeisode in our lives, and I wouldn't want to do it again. At least, our DDs were in their older teens.
We Messies don't expect anything from anyone on here, but will give encouragement to anyone who wants it, be prepared to be a 'body' of people to whom you can feel accountable (we know what you'd like to do, therefore you'll do it), or be very sympathetic if you don't get anything at all done. Please DON'T give up!
It sounds as if the new rota (provided they stick to it) will be better for you, Emms - I hope so. And you are amazing at just how much you get done, and how you do that, and manage your strenuous job, I don't know!
Well done, wilf. It may not seem much, but it's something that needed doing, and it's done.
Sassia, it's said that black and white moggies are generally the healthiest and longest-living. We've had 5 cats before these two new ones, the most recent was the only B&W, and lived the longest by a long way. Don't know if that actually proves anything, but there you are!
'Shy-puss', Star, is very slowly getting more confident, and actually rubbed around OH today. I think she's naturally more nervous, but I also suspect that they came from a 'female home', because Garfield took to me first. Animals, like children, are always attracted to OH, the latter being very awkward in these sometimes overly protective days.
Still not done much de-messying - doesn't seem to be a lot of point when nearly every surface, other than the kitchen ones, is covered, and totally cleared of any ornaments, flowers or clocks.Still, they'll grow up eventually.

How interesting bearcub. I never knew that about cats. Our tortie lived for 19 years, so imagine if she had been black and white!0

She did well, then, sassia. As I say, I don't know for sure, but there will always be exceptions. Our B&W was nearly 20; our others - two tabbies and a ginger - were all 10 -12 when they were pts, due to health problems.
The only de-messying I've done today was to throw away last weeks papers.0 -
Hi everyone. Well yesterday I got stuck into the cleaning. The carpets washed, floors cleaned and washing started.
House still looks tidy due to dd being back at school. Im going to do some more laundry later.
Iv now lost over a stone and am coming up to the five week mark so not bad.
Bearcub glad the cats are settling in. Emm try to take things easy. Welcome to the new people.
Im going to catch up on the other posts later. Hope everyone is well.0 -

Yesterday's de-messying was the kitchen from top to bottom and the secondary living room/dining room. They both look lovely. Was meant to do the front room, bedroom and bathroom today as they just need a quick 30 min going over each, but have sort of not managed it as I've been lurking on here!0

Hi all
Thanks for the wise words from you as always regarding my son. He did really well with the tutor and I kind of hope she strikes the right balance with him and isnt too soft because he does think he is too poorly to do anything and he isnt!
Hi Lavandula - you are very welcome here - especially if you need somewhere to hide from the mess for a bit!
Its been really full on this week with DS2 starting new school, DS1 having a new tutor, me planning my new job and goodness only knows what else. Found out tonight that my poor Dad has got another cancerous growth - his third malignant melanoma in the last few years. This time its on his ear which is going to need some minor plastic surgery. It looks like its been caught early enough again but it very worrying. The amount of time I spend in hospital I should have become a nurse!0 -
My flat is not a mess.. it is a ... hole today - done nothing all week, nothing at all apart from cleaning cat litter boxes.. sigh...
Got a friend coming tomorrow so... Jesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Will need to get up at some insane o'clock and clean up.. hmmm0 -
Friday we pottered about, did the DW hokey cokey, meal planned for the week (this is a biggie for me, for some reason I struggle to MP even though I always find it easier once I have), I did a huge grocery shop this afternoon, I should only need chilled + f&v for theorest of the month. Whilst I shopped OH did some gardening and played with the children.
Tomorrow we need to blitz downstairs, everybody has been warned.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0 -
I tidied my craft box yesterday my WIP box is a wheely toolbox thing and goodness me there was some junk in there! Many nail files, pens, packets of sweets, hay (although there is generally some hay everywhere in the house), paper, pegs, all kinds of things. So now for the time being it is tidy.
Today we'll just be doing the basics, DH has done the recycling. I need to get into the bunny pen but not just yet...Enjoy your weekend.0
