My home is a mess

Hugs to those tired or unwell xx
Oooh...new cats ( and old ones). You can tell the temperature has dropped because my lap is being commandeered in the evenings. We giggled all the way through Dr Who last night because Miki was snoring so loudly...
Also back to work tomorrow. Still in a mess in the kitchen-still refilling and sanding and will be for quite some time, I think. I should have booked a plasterer. I know I want perfect walls when they're painted, which either takes me weeks, or, worst case scenario, I spend weeks and I'm still not happy. And I've been able to do hardly anything for days at a time as it has triggered my RSI. I don't know why I have RSI, particularly, but I do. The other thing is that I used to have a huge, ugly, wart like ganglion on my right wrist (as a result of said RSI, allegedly), which disappeared a couple of months ago, and I'm vain enough not to want it to come back. So I'm probably being a bit precious as well...
Rather frustrated as a miscommunication between an Ebay seller and their courier had me waiting in all yesterday for a desk that didn't arrive. The courier then informed me they were delivering on Wednesday-I informed them that I'll be back at work and they're not. I ordered this blasted thing (for DD's new study) with a fortnight of holiday left, and it's nowhere near being delivered yet. Still, it should be no surprise that my old dining room table (too shabby to sell or even give away) was still in the Garage of Doom, so at least she has somewhere to work for now...
And...if I may, I'll vent here so I don't have to vent anywhere else...DS cut the lawn for me yesterday. His dad knows he cuts the lawn, but the ex can't come to the door of this house without sneering, and today it was the standard of DS's lawn cutting  . Nasty, miserable, evil, abusing g*t.
(DS is fine-ish...he knows *I'm* grateful, and I've tried to train my two to see their father's constant put-downs as his problem, not theirs. But I've stopped answering the door to the ex, as a means of avoiding his abuse, and it seems he's just going to try to make his children feel small instead.)
Still, it could be worse. I could still be married to him and we'd all have to put up with it every day

Hi folks - I got away on time today, quite a nice shift, got a late tomorrow so bit of a lie-in. Already slung some porkloin in oven (for tonight/leftovers tomorrow) & peeled spuds, rinsed spring cabbage & carrots going to be steamed whole! Will faff with runnerbeans with tomatoes & garlic in olive oil in a bit.
Cheered up no end today, have seen the next rota (`provisionally approved` by the high-ups, which means there could be some minor changes yet) but at least I`ve got some of my long shifts back, which means fewer short ones, less coming & going like a fiddlers elbow like in the last few weeks. Also I have a week of leave, with days off fore & aft. NICE! Cheerful smiling Emm...but still have the rest of this rota to survive...
((HUGS)) Buffy, JPS & Laurel...hope your new term starts well.
JPS, of course we can say `tits` here. There`s blue tits & great tits & coal tits... and one of my favourite sayings at work is `tits up at teatime` because that`s when a shift tends to start going pear-shaped when we have confused patients..
Bearcub - that`s great news about your new cats, and lovely that they aren`t going to be separated. Soon be Wednesday...
Re your visit to the home, and that lady laughing who has till now cried a lot - I don`t know if the lady has ever suffered a stroke, but it`s a fairly common thing with some types of stroke, even after a fairly good recovery/rehab, to be quick to tears OR laughter, and swing between both. Not quite the same as mood swings, just both emotional responses `nearer the surface`. Whatever, it`s so good to laugh, and good to make someone laugh - I always get a huge buzz if I can get even a little chuckle from a patient, so do most of my colleagues.Very therapeutic for all concerned! If you aren`t `patting yourself on the back` you jolly well should be!
I love ginger cats too, thanks for the cute pic GR!
BB, you`ve been busy again! Well done you & OH there.
Alec E - hope you feel better soon, take it easy.
Messy status..?
Who cares!? OH has observed a couple of cobwebs in corners of LR ceiling, and a couple of `Teggies` (tegenaria, the big house spiders, sure sign of autumn - and they love eating craneflies Cat) we treat them almost like household pets here... the webs will NOT be disturbed while occupied unless there`s a dead teggie `husk`in it (they eat each other too). We have also called a halt today on playing `fly tennis` in LR lest we deprive our teggies of a meal! (And JPS thought she was daft with her crickets!)
The spare Daftie-dog cushion that I washed yesterday is dry, and airing on the fireguard (no fire btw). and the cat has chosen to roost on it...only because she knows it isn`t hers, I swear. I`m just going to relax this evening, concentrate on the basicest basics (food, pots, uniforms) here till Wednesday evening when I can face the mess on the next 2 days off!
(HUGS) all xx0 -
Laurel, hope the rant made you feel better. Have you considered getting a `fly racquet` and answering the door with that? (I`d be rather tempted, myself...)0

:rotfl::rotfl:
Re. tegenaria... I've seen the first few and they are MAHOOSIVE this year. One ran across the floor yesterday and I thought it was a mouse at first
I too let them do their thing - but I'm a complete cowardy custard if they are near me :rotfl: Also a bit worried they might leer at the crickets through the clear plastic and scare them to death!!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Evening!
Typing one handed, sleeping little lady on the other arm lol
I have done a few bits today, house is a tip as we moved the wardrobes from the spare room to our bedroom and had to empty them. I actually went to sleep last night dreaming of housework, yes I'm a sad cow haha.
Today I have cleaned and tidied the living room and dining room, cleaned the cloakroom, wiped down a bit of woodwork. We also walked to the shop a mile away to post the thank you cards for Mia's presents and a magazine subscription order form (ta mr t) it's the first time I've walked that far since my section so was well chuffed. Also given a certain little lady her bath.
Oh is now cooking our tea, and I'm sat down.0 -

Well done Gilly. I can remember days when getting dressed was a huge effort but its nice to do some "normal" stuff when you can, even if thats just a bit of housework!
Emm, good news about work. Just dont fill your extra time with too much other stuff!
Oooh Laurel I would be fuming at that too. Your poor son. Why do exes not see how bad they make themselves look with stuff like that?
So my day today:
Got up at 9am.
Emptied the dishwasher, did some washing up
Tidied away peoples shoes and other stuff
Hoovered and mopped all the floors downstairs
Started the ironing
Made lunch for everyone
Cleaned the bathroom
More ironing
Took the dog for a long walk
Bathed the dog who had rolled in something
Cleaned the bathroom again
Made tea for everyone
Washed up and put dishwasher on again
And now I am waiting for OH to come off the phone so he can sort out his pile of clothes that are on the bedroom floor and put some stuff in the loft. Then I can hoover the bedroom, landing and stairs.
Oh and between all that I have done 4 loads of washing - last load just needs bringing in.
Going out tomorrow for a last day out with the kids which should be really nice!0 -
Hello!!
Hope everyone is ok! I've had quite a productive day (considering that i said i was leaving everything till the kids went back to school)!
I started cleaning and tidying the kitchen, sorted all the cupboards and even cleaned the windows!! I also got three loads of washing dried outside as it's been lovely and sunny here all day.
I made roast chicken for supper, cleaned the bathroom after we'd eaten and made some pasties for mr farmer's lunch with the leftover chicken.
YL - you have been busy today!! Where are you going with the kids? Hope you have a good time!!
JxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Evening Messies.
GR, our elderly cat was pts a couple of weeks ago, and we've been planning to get one or two more, but had to get our LR carpet cleaned first. Since that was done on Friday, there was not a lot to stop us going out and looking for more. So, we now have two 11 month old cats reserved for us, to be collected this week, subject to our home being approved tomorrow morning. I love that picture of Zara and her masseur!
All the very best, and huge sympathy, to those returning to the wonderful education system - been there, done that, although I had to work during the hols, too.
Laurel, how awful about your ex. How wise to tell your kids that it's the father's fault, not theirs, and please keep on emphasising that. As I've said before, DD2's bf (now 35) has had appalling relationship problems with his father since his parents' marriage broke up, simply because he works with his father, who's become very manipulative. I can't believe how a parent can put that sort of pressure on their child.
Emms, sounds like good news about the shifts - I hope it all works out. Re the lady I made laugh, it did occur to me that she may have had a stroke, because of the way she moved, or didn't. thanks for the info and the encouragement.
Gillybean, it's so lovely the way you talk about your daughter.
Wilf, an impressive list! :T And well done to your DS.
YL, an impressive list from you, too. How are you doing? Any more comments from your OH?
BB, really don't envy you having the kids still coming down that late in the evening.
Still done next to no de-messying today. Spent this afternoon at a local show, even though most of the time it was drizzly and/or misty, as the place was surrounded by the downs. I've dusted and put back a few items that were moved when the LR carpet was cleaned, and put away some clean washing, and some washing-up. That's about all. Dreadful!0 -
Evening,
It's been awful ladies.
absolutely awful.
In my attempts to tidy my room I now look like I am sleeping in some bizarre charity shop back room. I have tomorrow as I don't go to work till Tuesday, was meant to be doing school work tomorrow but............
found this via another thread, it will either send us to our collective nervous breakdown or make you laugh so much you won't care
