My home is a mess

Hi everyone,
It feels good to be near the end of the painting, it's not really the end but it's the end for now.
Hit the ground running today as we're walking up to watch the illuminations switch on, it's a nice walk along the beach and a nice evening out. This year one of my old mates happen to be working on the show there so we'll be able to see him for half an hour before he has to start work, bonus!
So far I have aired the bed, done a load of laundry, swept kitchen, dining room, living room and stairs, dealt with the beasts, had a two minute tidy, put the laundry away, done and put away the washing up, wiped the worksurfaces and had a wipe round in the bathroom.
So happy it's Friday, have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning Messies.
I hope everyone`s having a reasonable day.
Gilly, if you had a section don`t be overdoing things with housework yet! Concentrate on lighter tasks and little Mia!
Had a lie in this morning even though we didn`t stay up late. Sat outside with fleeces on, it wasn`t that warm after all - so we came in and I made a small fire. Only used one log but it was quite autumnal and cosy. Saw some bees around, but no activity at the bee hotel spotted.
Not much done here - birdfeeders filled, Daftie-dog had a potter outside, supper planned, have to nip out to local shop for a loaf then off to work, have to be there for 12. Day off tomorrow (just the one!) and thinking of a bit of tetris in caravan of Doom...
Have a good day all, xx0 -

Happy 18th to your DD2 Cat!
Have a wonderful meal
And enjoy your WD. Reminds me I need to sort DW out I'm lost without it.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Mia is a gorgeous name, Gilly, and, yes-don't overdo it. Enjoy her-before you know it she'll be driving! xx
Emm-thank you for your good wishes for DD...who didn't take the paper part of her driving licence with her and was refused entry. I took her back and attempted to charm/grovel another slot today, but they're completely full up and she (or I) will have to pay again.
(It is, from the perspective of middle age, a small bump on life's road, really. But by golly, she's going to owe me some washing up).import this0 -
Happy birthday to DD2, Cat

Hi everyone
Been for a 5 mile walk with the dog this afternoon. I am sooo tired now, getting old eh? Lovely to be out though and I persuaded DS2 to come with me which was nice.
Well. The floors are filthy, the ironing pile/mountain is about to topple over, there is a layer of grime on the desks in the computer room and I havent seen my bedroom floor for a while. The only cleaning done today was a swipe round the bathroom with some cleaning spray and a wadge of loo paper while I brushed my teeth this morning. Shame on me! Like FW said - I will sort it when DS2 goes back to school - I promise!! Oooh, and hope the training went well FW.
Ah Gilly, lovely news, hope you and Mia are doing OK. Everyone says it but time passes in a flash - cant believe my boy is nearly 14!
Hope the birthday meal went well Cat. We are going to friends for their silver wedding anniversary tomorrow and I havent bought them anything, havent a clue what to get so I need to get something sorted quickly!
Wine and bee-watching sounds a great combination Emm - think I could do with some of that!
Everyone else out at footie so I am going to find something trashy to watch on TV. I will have to do that ironing tomorrow.0 -
Happy 18th Birthday to the young lady

Hi Messies. It doesn't do to miss a day, does it? Can't possibly remember everything thats been said, but let's see how I get on.
Firstly, congrats, gillybean, on the birth of little Mia. It is indeed a very pretty name.Enjoy her.
Happy 18th to your DD2, Cat. Hope you all enjoyed the meal. I know I'm being very thick, but what's a WD, apart from wedding day?
Jps, I really hope that your leak is well and truly fixed by now, and you can relax.
BB and alec e, well done for all the de-messying, even if, alec e, it was just 'two minutes'.
I love your turn of phrase, Emms - tetris in the caravan of Doom, indeed! :rotfl: I trust all your 'babies' are happy in their homes - they should be. We have a second brood of 4 baby swallows in the stables, and we regard them as 'our' babies. We just get to share the joy for a while.:)
Laurel, love the article, again, especially the bit about the cat. Great shame about the test.
YL, 5 miles is tiring if you're not used to that distance. I'd be exhausted.
Didn't read back far enough, but I take it you're applying for another job, GR?
Many apologies if I've missed anyone. Been a lovely day here, after a chilly start - the GCH came on at 7am!
Not a lot of de-messying gone on chez bearcub but, as we had the LR carpet cleaned yesterday, we had to move all the furniture back this morning, after I'd cleaned all the skirting boards, unhomed a few spiders, and removed long abandoned webs. Also gave furniture a polish and dusting. Did some gardening, after coming back from the yard, then toddled off to the home.
I've been a bit concerned about the place, but was much encouraged today. They've lost lots of staff in the last couple of months and, although the residents are fed and clean, they seemed to have next to no stimulation on the last couple of visits I've made. Much, much better today, lots more staff about, and I was able to sit and talk with one lady who was feeling very down, bless her. Anyone got any ideas for activities for her? Minimal dementia, she reads a lot, but can't do much else, and is bored. She can't write anymore, and no longer has the ability to do jigsaws or word/number puzzles, because she can't concentrate for long enough.
Came home to hear the great news that a young lady who OH and I used to teach to ride when she was a child, came first in her Paralympic dressage test. Are we proud of her, or what? :T
OH and I are going to see some puddies tomorrow - we'll probably want to bring them all home!0 -
Evening
OH had a day off today and we all had a lie in, we didn't eat breakfast until 11.30. We did some decorating today, we started doing this room back in March and what with one thing and another we gound to a halt. We had clear the room before we could start as we had been using to dry the laundry.
