My home is a mess

That's an ambitious list for just two hours, Buffy. By all means go for it, but remember that setting impossible targets is a way that depression maintains itself and you have NOT failed if you "only" do some of it. You have succeeded if you do SOME of it. xx
I've pottered a few things...put away the stick blender that had dried on the windowsill (I washed it under the tap as soon as I'd used it...yay me), moved the breadmaker out of the utility room (for some reason I had a terrible fear I'd left some dough in there to go mouldy, but it's spanking clean, so :T). The garden needed watering, but it has started to pour (hooray) and one of the nicer "jobs" on my list is to finish some sewing (so I can demessy the bag it's in, obviously :rotfl:) and I think I might just indulge myself in that.
But I will need a Messy arris-kick if I don't do any wall prep tomorrow.import this0 -
Hello again messies... I was away for the Olympics, so to speak and then I got hooked on a game I downloaded on to the iPhone. I came to my senses yesterday and deleted the dratted thing.
My daughter popped in and blitzed me tidy, what with that and the cleaner's weekly visit things haven't been too bad. I've kept up my intention of putting a full or near-full recycling wheelie bin out each fortnight, which is helping me.
I have the bin outside, as near to the back door as I can, so that there is every incentive to just open the door and flick up the lid rather than leaving recycling cluttering up the place.
I love reading about guinea pigs - I would be tempted to have them again but for not having anyone definitely handy to care for them if I have a weekend away on the spur of the moment.
I'm very interested in the new method of caring for them that involves absorbent pads and hay for bedding rather than wood shavings. Mine were house pigs and the mess those shavings used to make...!!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I had to health check the guinea pigs, teeth nails, eyes ear etc, should really weigh them but am going to the vets in a couple of weeks so might get him to do it. They all seem very well
and the two youngest do not freak out about having their nails trimmed.
so yeah the ten things in two hours a litttttttlllllllllle bit ambitious!
Still at least the guilt about the guinea pigs has been lessened
I shall continue!

Well I can safely say I didn't get as much done as I thought I would, but the bathroom is now clean, bread is made for tea and I intend to do nothing more today as I simply cant be bothered
OH has washed up the dishes and rooted out some things from the shed for the boot sale and we have posted the ebay parcels.
Washing is all done and drying too, enough achieved for one day.

Well done for getting through those five years laurel, and having some good strategies now to boot.
I'm really exhausted today so probably did overdo it yesterday. I got back in a couple of hours ago, and intended to get straight on with painting, but I'm actually considering a nap instead.
I think I might do just that, take it easy for the rest of the night and get up and make an early start tomorrow.
Well done on your triumphs everyone, however little! The little stuff starts to add up after a bit, I've found.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Laurel, how awful that time must have been, but it's onward and upward now - most of the time anyway, huh? Well done for developing that way of dealing with de-messing. I like it - do something, and feel proud that you've done it.
I know what you mean about festival. I've been going to the festival here with the DDs for the last 7 years, but the weather last year wasn't good - but the Foos were brilliant, simply brilliant. I found it hard to cope, though, as my joints won't cope with standing all the time, and I get so tired. We decided to give it a miss this year, as we didn't like the increased numbers allowed (the IOW festival site is very small compared to Leeds etc), and DD2 couldn't justify the cost. I doubt we'll go again, unless there are some very special acts we'd like to see - can't think who, though.
It'll do you no harm at all to take it easy for once, jps. Decorating and doing daughterly duties are both exhausting activities (especailly the latter, I know!), so enjoy your evening.

Interesting thread - my home is a total mess....
I live alone so have nobody to blame for it, unfortunately.
Not even my dog or my 4 cats can make as much mess as I myself make - yes I know shame on me.....
It is only a small 2 bed flat so I should be able to keep in nice and clean but most of the time I fel so shattered that I let things go and then spend my weekend doing bits and pieces but never really get it properly clean.
I get up around 6am, take the dog out, clean the cat litter boxes, get myself dresses and off I go to work.
I am tired like hell already by the time I even get to work (I have sleep apnea, makes life quite difficult), do my few hours, get back home at around 6:30-7:00 pm, take the dog out, clean the litter boxes, feed the lot of them fury things, have a bath, take the dog out again and collapse to bed. 5 days per week.
Weekends - my day/night are upside down completely as I try to catch up on some sleep (never possible as the more I "sleep" the worse I feel due to sleep apnea which should be controlled but its not as none of the equipment agrees with me). Today all I managed was to wash up - only because I had no plate/cup that I could use, all was dirty after a week of doing nothing.
Can not afford a cleaner (I wish I could).
My doors/door frames are filthy from inside - wet dog, big dog tends to have this effect on walls/doors/frames....Cat/dog hair everywhere mixed with cat litter that tracks like hell. etc etc etc....
Will be reading this thread... sigh....0
