    Hello and goodbye, Emms!

BB, that's so lovely that your OH noticed. Don't think about being ahsamed that it got so bad; be encouraged that the work you've done has improved things radically.

    Morning all
Well my 3 day weekend has finally arrived, a nice lie in and woke up naturally around 9am with no alarms screaming at me (bliss) one load in the WM and hoping the rain will stay away to get it dried on the line, then must get OH's work clothes washed too (they get a wash to themselves nasty grubby things that they are!) Todays plans are to get to the post office to post some bits we've sold on fleabay, then OH will be sorting out the shed to find anymore tat that he doesnt need to take to the boot sale we plan to do on Monday. While he is out there I intend to declutter and clean the grotty bathroom (ashamed) and the spare room which is still graced with a pile of clothes and the suitcases from the holiday we had in june!!
Going to make a day of it today, but only until about 5pm then the rest of the weekend will be mine I think.
Happy Bank Holiday Weekend messies :)

Hi Lizzie, I don't think I said welcome to you before, sorry! Hope you really enjoy your lovely restful weekend, even if the weather isn't what we ordered.

I'm off out on more daughterly duties today, so painting will be resumed in the afternoon/evening again. Almost killed myself last night, I got into that "I'll just do this bit" mode and was still messing around at 10pm.

Have to be very careful of that, because it's easy to overdo it and put myself off completely, which is how the bedroom ended up half painted for two and a half years!

I have an eye test on Monday as my optitions are open over the BHW, and some other stuff to do next week as well. Tomorrow will be spent getting my bedroom and the boxroom decorating finished off, then it's just spare room of doom left!

Funny though, I meant to do the spare room of doom first - typical me, very scatterbrained. Oh well, the bedroom being finished and all bright and clean should really help with my mood - I made a very unwise choice of colour last time, slightly too dark, and I'm sure that has not helped my moods at all.

Everything's going to be white now, as I can't afford anything else! I have some tins of coloured paint that I bought ages ago, and may consider adding one to a giant cheapo tub of paint for a hint of colour at some point.

Right, I'm rambling... must be off to shower and go out now - have a lovely Saturday messies!

Well, I'm developing a cringeing shame about the kitchen, because, despite the amount of work my dad has done on it, it has stalled. I need to rub down the walls and re-fill a couple more times before I even touch a paintbrush, but on Thursday I felt so tired that I awarded myself a rare day off, yesterday I took DS to Leeds festival (and confirmed beyond any doubt I am now far too old and unfit for the mosh pit), lost the car in the car park :o (I think we were a bit overconfident because it was the same car park as last time, so we didn't take enough bearings) and got home about 3am. I woke up an hour ago and you can imagine how little I feel like getting on with decorating. Still, my parents are going abroad for three weeks, so I have time to catch up..famous last words. :o

(But...I saw the Foo Fighters...we are not worthy...:D)

Buffy (and maybe also Woody-welcome btw :))-shame is generally a fairly pointless, disabling emotion. Its only use is as a motivation not to do something again. So when applied to stuff that needs to be DONE, it's no wonder we feel utterly paralysed by it.

Sometimes, when I'm really stuck, I talk myself into demessying being a gift. Today, I will do something really good for myself-I will make sure I feel better about myself tomorrow.

But my number one strategy is to do SOMETHING, and allow myself to feel pleased by it. I've had years of depression, and an undiagnosed illness that made me completely, perpetually exhausted. We're talking ivy grown across the windows of the house and FIVE YEARS of unopened post (I was terrified of opening it in case it added another job to the list of stuff I couldn't cope with). I had a room full of it-every so often I'd summon the energy to throw out the junk mail, but that was it. This morning, I have at least opened yesterday's post and dealt with it, and on that level I feel like Superwoman. :)

  • I put cardboard in the car (for tip, not forever)
I tried setting up the new guinea pig run. I love the puppies but they have ruined the carefree life of the Guinea pigs, they now have a tiny run upstairs instead of a bigger run down stairs.....

They are getting a bigger hutch and the tiny run will be attached (I hasten to add this is all above minimum size just not what they had pre puppies) so ultimately more space.....but that involves building a fish pond, putting up two new chests of drawers and painting EVERYTHING.

    *feels a bit sick*

Laurel, you are correct about the shame thing.

My room as it stands would be fine if in two hours I can do the following

    1. hoover (empty hoover before and after)
    2. clean out piggies
    3. Clean out hamster
    4. Clean out Gerbils.
    5. make bed
    6. take down washing up
    7. hang up washing eeek!
    8. go through handbags for charity, condense to one box under the bed.
    9. sort out pet related crap.
    10. decide on e baying.

(not in that order, cos hoovering first would be daft!)

I have let it all go to !!!! because I have been depressed. I will stay depressed if when I go to bed tonight it still looks a mess.

    I have nothing to lose.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
