Bearcub, sorry I missed the part about your cat earlier. Very sorry that life is coming to a close for him/her but as mentioned earlier I am sure that no cat had a better life.

Welcome home Gilly! Great to see you again and brilliant that wallet was found... £50 not lost after all!

Tata, everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you!

Feeling sleepy and a bit off today, so doing a bit of rag rugging instead of anything energetic.

    Hi messies.

Bearcub I'm very sorry about your cat ((hugs)) xx I agree about the pentathlon - now, I know NOTHING about horses or riding but even I thought some of those riders looked mighty uncomfortable and inept. Particularly one I saw where the horse refused to jump at all.

snookey, hope your OH is feeling better soon, must be awful for you both :( xx That's nice that you're meeting up with an old friend. I am still determined I'm going to meet up with people from here one day - anyone??!:D:D

jps you have a relaxing night, hope you feel better soon :) xx

tata very best of luck with your interview - go girl!! xx

I watched the closing ceremony last night but can't say I really enjoyed it, and agree that George Michael was dire!! Eric Idle was a genius inclusion though :D. And with decades of great British music to choose from, did we really have to hear the same One Direction song twice?? Most of it wasn't really my thing to be honest, and I'm not a Muse fan so even that didn't please me:rotfl:I found the Jessie J/Taio Cruz/Tinie Tempah collaboration quite entertaining but that was more the Bee Gees song than them!

Gilly glad you had a good holiday, and glad you found the wallet!!

No demessying to report I'm afraid.....:o Been feeling a little sick, hot and headachey, I'm sure that's something to do with the plaster cast covering most of my forehead.

    hugs all xxx

    Evening Messies.

Gilly, I'm so pleased you had a good holiday, and good weather, by the sound of it. Shame about the not-lost wallet, but at least you know that no one else benefitted from the £50! Isn't the washing after hols a huge bind? You end up feeling as if you need another holiday!

Sorry to hear your OH is feeling so rotten atm, snookey, and I hope he feels a lot better soon.

Tata, so you're a scientist, too? A teacher? Prayers will certainly be heading from here to you on Friday. I've even made a note to make sure I don't forget.

And <hugs> for jps, who's finally run out of energy. A bit of therapeutic crafting never did any harm. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Good to see in again, Cat. Sounds like a post-operative headache, not that I'm any expert, but I know people who've had ops sometimes suffer headaches afterwards. Btw, I love Muse, but that particular song was awful. Such a shame when two of their other, much better, songs were played at the Opening Ceremony.

Thanks for all your thoughts re GC, as DD1 calls her (Gilly Cat). She's nearly 20 and been poorly for a while, so it's not a sudden decision. I know it sounds harsh, but she has had a good life, and there are lots of other cats out there that could do with a chance of the same thing. We won't be long without a cat.

I sat down for a quiet time this afternoon, and found myself crying. I think the cat thing, DD2's problems, and not sleeping particularly well for the last couple of weeks (can't deal with hot nights) caught up with me. Doesn't help that it's been very dull all day, although very little rain. Still, tears are there for a reason, and I felt better afterwards, but it's just as well that OH was out. :)

Oh bearcub!! (((big hugs!!)). I'm glad you felt better after your cry, it's definitely a release - but quite exhausting too! Would you just have felt uncomfortable crying in front of your OH? xx

I can't even remember which Muse songs were played at the OC - the only one I really love is New Born so if that wasn't one of them, I still wouldn't have been happy:rotfl:

Thanks Cat and bearcub, and hugs for both of you - sounds like we all need TLC tonight. Virtual cuppas and cake for all, I think.

I totally understand about getting another cat almost straight away bearcub (deleted long story - I remember the cat that I took home from the rescue centre kind of choosing me, if you know what I mean. Or maybe I'm just a crazy cat lady :o)

    Have a lovely evening all.

Oh I wish you hadn't mentioned the C word (Cake!!). I'm trying to lose some weight - a stone and a half by mid November. My favourite band are playing in Glasgow then and DD1 has got me and DD2 tickets for our birthdays (my 40th, her 18th):j:j I REALLY want to be able to fit into skinny jeans by then!

Am sending hugs to everyone - think we all could do with them today one way or another. Very sorry to hear about your cat Bearcub - it's awful when you lose such an important part of the family. Am sending prayers to Tata for Friday - hope everything works out well for you. Have had a shocking day today - you know the kind - where you wish you had never got out of bed. Nearly brained the boss with a loft ladder (don't ask!) and that was the highlight!!! Hey ho - onwards and upwards - tomorrow's another day...

 Sorry Cat! It's virtual cake, so no calories ;)

I'm not having any real cake either, I'm also trying to lose a bit of weight. Since last Thursday when I started reducing my portions a bit, I've been doing ok - I just need to keep a tight rein on my appetite. It's hard :(

That really doesn't sound good, parkgirl, but I know what you mean about really dreadful days - had a few of those when I was working!

Cat, the Muse songs in the OC were 'The Resistance' (line "we will be victorious"), and the music from Butterflies and Hurricanes. I just love that Matt Bellamy is actually quite small and shy, but throws himself around the stage wearing very 'loud' suits, bless him. :rotfl:

OH is fine about me crying, but gets quite 'funny' when I worry about DD2. I'll be able to sob my heart out when GC goes, and it won't bother him at all. Mind you, he'll probably shed a tear, too.

I think we may have a bit of homemade apple cider cake in the freezer, but it has to be a very special occasion to get some of that out!
