Me too, I doubt the wisdom of making the pentathletes ride one they haven't even sat on before. Those were all very highly tuned animals and it must have been very confusing for them to have an unfamiliar rider aboard in that setting, however competent they may be.
The horses they ride are actually used to having a variety of riders on them, as they're regularly used for pentathlons and showjumping competitors - superduper riding school horses, in effect. My criticism is that some of the riders appeared to have very little riding ability at all. I'm certainly not into competition now, but a 3' 9" fence isn't high if you're a fairly accomplished rider - as these were supposed to be. I found it rather scary that they were allowed to ride.
White, or white with a touch of colour, is always pretty safe, isn't it?0 -
Agreed bearcub... a lot of the horses seemed way too strong for them.
Well the closing ceremony is bizarre! I loved Erid Idle though... honestly, his voice was way stronger and much better than George
Michael's!
Oh dear, Jessie J is making a dreadful attempt at We Will Rock You :rotfl:I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Morning Messies! Have a good day all, I`m off to work in a mo, Good luck with the painting and tiling Laurel, Buffy & JPS, now that you`re all decided on the plan.
I tend to go for YELLOW, or variations with yellow/orange/white.
Haven`t seen the closing ceremony, will watch it later on i-player - but thank goodness it`s over! (I always feel sorry for the horses too)

Morning Messies.
I hope you have as good a day as possible, Emms. Mind that neck!
I loved most of the closing ceremony, as music is a huge part of my life. Despite not really being a Beatles fan (except when I was about 11), the video of John Lennon on the huge screen made me cry. Such a gentle and very gifted man. Shame that woman got to him. Some of my favourite music included - Elbow, Muse and the Pink Floyd song 'Wish you were here'. Loved the fact that Nick Mason from Floyd was there, and the tightrope walker meeting a dummy which burst into flames - totally bizarre and so very Floyd! :rotfl: My main problem was that it all went on far too long - got bored and went to bed.
Have made the difficult decision to have our elderly cat pts. Vet's coming here on wednesday morning.0 -
I enjoyed Wish You Were Here as well, but I think Shine On might have been more appropriate. The Bowie tribute was much too quick - I loved Suggs and Madness but their voices sounded very weak, so did George Michael's (he left me cringing, sadly). Eric Idle's voice was way more powerful - he really enjoyed himself and I wanted to hug him!
I'm sorry to be a grumpy old fart but I really didn't like any of the rest of it, and the fashion thing along with the spice girls left me cold. Stomp were a great choice though.
Ah well back to reality today anyway. Hormones have taken over today, I have some lovely tummy cramps and field weird. Just as well the weather's going off, I wouldn't get much done today in the garden.
May have a little go at the painting later, if I am up to it.
Have a lovely day messies!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hi all, back from Cornwall and a good time was had by all.
First week lots of sightseeing, second week relaxing and sunbathing with a good book until OH lost his wallet and then had to spend time cancelling cards, he is now forever known as DOH, dear other half. Dear as there was also £50 in his wallet
Eventful trip to the Minack Theatre which resulted in paramedics being called to DS's girlfriend - heatstroke but now fully recovered.
Just the 75 tons of washing to do, grass to cut and motorhome to tidy:eek: and open the post
Catch you all later0 -
Back for an afternoon cuppa - where are you all?
About 30 tons of washing done and either on the line or brought in and folded very neatly to avoid ironing
Post opened -
Tax rebate gratefully accepted, only £12.80, but every penny helps
But more exciting than that the wedding stationery, invites and RSVPs have arrived, so will be sending those out whilst recovering from surgery
Rest was boring
Motorhome almost cleared - wallet has now been found, b**ger, knew I should not cancel those cards but did not want to find ourselves open to fraud :money:
Report back later0 -
Bearcub so sorry about your cat.
I still dont know why the police ect were about the other night There was talk regarding guns being found.
Oh is in dire pain due to the fibro despite a ton of morphine. Reallly worried this morning but there isnt anything I can do.

Bearcub - sorry about your cat, sad news but I am sure your pet has had a great life with you.
Gilly, sounds like an eventful holiday! Glad you found the wallet though.
I wish we were going on holiday. First school hols that I can remember that we havent had a week away. It seemed like a good idea to spend the money on other things at the time but now I am regretting it. Would love to go camping for a few days but we would have to take the dog and I am not sure how that would work out!
I enjoyed the closing ceremony last night on the whole. We werent going to bother but in the end we all sat through the whole thing!0 -
