:rotfl:At least you haven't descended into the madness that is cricket keeping!!
Mine are still doing fine and we have overcome the scary insect problems - they really are very cute. Or I'm just even madder than ever
Hope the date goes well buffy, good luck!
I am doing more gardening today - bit of hedgetrimming, large pruning and - wait for it - chainsawing logs  I remember when I bought the chainsaw, the guy at the shop did a bit of a double take... fat old bird buying chainsaw... so I did a couple of twitches and assured him I was of sound mind - most of the time :rotfl:Let's just hope no scary spiders leap out of the wood at me, or the chainsaw will end up being flung up the garden this time!
I need to do more lawnmowing as well - I feel a bit like Sisyphus rolling his rock up a hill with this lawn. When I was doing my degree and the myth of Sisyphus came up, we all went into smirk mode waiting for someone to say "myth of Syphillis"
Anyway, I digress. More house demessying will happen tomorrow but for today it's garden all the way :cool::cool:
First job is to construct a proper saw horse out of the leylandii poles. Then that rose arbour will get built out of yet more leylandii poles, and it will be magnificent, and they will come from miles around to see it... yeah, really!
*gentle kick* @ laurel - get moving lass!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hello
I've wasted yet another Sat morning planning what I need to do but not actually doing anything. I'm in a mad panic so have done my usual thing of playing solitare for hours so my mind can't think. I can't go on. Please can I join you understanding people and get to grips with my life. I have been lurking from the beginning but don't think I've posted...lost my password in the mess that is my inbox. Have just deleted a few hundred old messages and opened some folders to keep others - and found my password so here I am.
Things to be done asap
Try on clothes for holiday - 10 days time and nothing so far fits.
work out what I need to buy and get only that.
ditto for DS and DD.
Sort out piles of washing - I'm good at that buy once clean there's no where to put it.
sort out the linen cupboard to find towels and find space
find suitcases
remove the old clothes that are in said cases
find a shop still selling summer stuff - then shop for needed stuff
That will have to be my focus for today. The kitchen nightmare will have to be ignored. DS has offered to cook dinner, my hero, so hopefully I can keep out of there.
Wish me luckWL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Hi Messies!
I`m in very positive mood today - DS has gone to his GF`s up North (for the week) and so whatever de-messying I get done now it`ll stay clear for a week! Also, his usual last-minute laundry panic didn`t happen this time either! Wow, is he reformed??
I`m just waiting for DS`s OH to ring so I can go & pick him up to come & make the lavender box.... their `new` car doesn`t change hands till next week.
A bit of help in the garden will motivate me I think...but must keep nettle-rash covered still, it still tingles when it gets too warm! Still, I might manage more than a few ten-minute potters today (Glad you like that JPS!)
Alec Eiffel - glad your buns are now less messy - more than I can say for my dear old Daftie-dog. This heat is taking her hairy shedding to Olympic standard!
SoWorried - I think it was Cat who introduced the term `Disco nap` here, a sort of nap before going to the Disco... like a power-doze... Enjoy your weekend with OH.
Bearcub - fingers crossed for your DD & the BF.
Laurel, ((HUGS)) for your kitchen quandary. And a gentle `kick`.
Buffy - glad your hamster is better.
DD`s OH is ready to be collected. Here goes..0 -

One thing at a time, otherwise it's too overwhelming. Try on clothes, and come back and tell us.0 -
Welcome Procrastinator! Possession is dead right, pick one thing to start on and don't even think about beating yourself up if you don't get that one thing done either. It's quite ok to think... actually you know what, I would rather do x than y today, as well.
I literally do ten minute potters at everything - my body won't take much more than that at the moment anyway. I am halfway through building a saw horse and have come in to get the lawnmower out ready to do a bit of that as well.
I slipped up and had some crisps yesterday (won't tell you how many) but other than that I stuck to my healthier diet, including portion control. I feel much better and have more energy - still not sure if that's psychological but hey, I'm not complaining. It helps that it's a wee bit cooler today too.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hi everyone!
Very nice weather here today, hot but breezy, just what we need to get the wheat in! I've done hung out 2 loads of washing and i'm waiting for the next one to finish, i stripped the beds this morning so i'll have to go and make them up later (i hate it when i forget and go to bed only to be confronted my the sheetless/coverless bed!! grr!!).
Going to make some biccies now, my idea of making my own instead of buyuing expensive choccy biccies is defo working, i can make a batch of them in about 7 minutes and then 30 mins cooking time!
JPS - good luck with the chainsawing, you are very brave, that's one thing that i won't tackle myself!!
JxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
After having a really seriously CBA mood about the whole house for the past week and half I woke up this morning and thought you know what "I have to be arsed!!!"
So I started at the back of house in the kitchen of doom where it is a little bit cooler and have found a worksurface and cleaned it:j.
Sorted all my sock monkey stuff from the kitchen into one box in the office/craft room.
[STRIKE]
Nagged
[/STRIKE] offered gentle encouragement to OH so that he took out the old defunct downstairs toilet ready for finding a plumber to fit new one (that has been sat there for over a year).
So now that I have eaten a whole box of chocolate fingers to myself I am ready to do a tip and charity shop run. Going to do a quick freecycle offer for table and four chairs before I go, any quesses as to how many people will want that:rotfl:.:j DEBT FREE FROM 01/01/11 :j

Afternoon Messies, welcome procrastinator and welcome back footymadgal.
Jps, I wouldn't trust myself with a chainsaw. Please take care. I know you don't oike spiders, but is it really fair to throw a chainsaw at them?
Procrastinator, as others have said, don't think of the mass of things to be done, just one step at a time. Otherwise, you'll dilute your efforts too much, and feel as if you've achieved nothing at all.
Laurel, did you get to see the meteor shower? Oh, and 'kick'.
FW, our cul-de-sac is surrounded by farmland - in fact, most of this side of the island is farmland - so we have the constant background sound of cutting going on. I love it, it beats the hum of the M25 that we had to suffer in Surrey!
Emms, you are a love.
Have printed out lots of sheets for tomorrow's church service. Our summer services are always a bit different from usual, but tomorrow's has been planned by me, so it's going to be very different!
De-messing so far today; 2 WM loads done and out on the line. Warm but very breezy today, so perfect drying weather. Dry washing put away, including a couple of winter fleeces, that have been folded and put in a zipped bag, rather than put back into my previously crammed wardrobe.0 -

I've knocked off a couple of sq m of tiles and what am I doing?!!!!
I'm so far out of my comfort zone I need a jet plane to find it again.
It's such a mess, and, what's really terrifying is that I haven't planned how I'm going to fix it. And most possible plans involve booking people and ordering stuff and :eek::eek:
And now of course, my kitchen looks even worse, and I have even less faith it will look good, even after weeks of work.Deep breath, Laurel. Journey of a thousand miles and all that....

The fur is still everywhere, but at least it's not fur and hay now. I walk around with a roll of sticky tape in my pinny pocket as there's always something to defluff! We had rex rabbits before, they have really short fur, like velvet so it wasn't an issue. Now we have the bunny equivalent of a porcupine firing quills of grey fur out all over the place!0
