My home is a mess

Thanks GreyQueen.
Will have to try that re the oven.
I get a (rather shorter) warning if my parents are about to turn up - and tend to think part of the reason is so that I run round and clear up the worst of the mess:rotfl:.
My parents have learnt 'tis not wise to turn up unexpectedly by now - at least not very often - :rotfl:. There's still the odd occasion - and I came back to find some extra food had been left in my fridge - to which- as the kitchen was in total absolute chaos full of washing-up etc (my excuse was that the recipe I was trying out for the first time for dinner took a lot longer than I thought - and just as I was about to eat it...something came up unexpectedly to deal with and by the time that was "done and dusted" I wasnt going to set to and do a pile of dishes - as well as eat my belated dinner). But I guess I "might" get forgiven for that - as I was on the phone that day telling my mother about the "unexpected incident"...
You should see just how often my mother does housework though:eek::rotfl:. So - she's always going to regard me as a "housework hussie" - as, even when I have enough time, I'm never going to be doing it at anything remotely like as frequent intervals as she does....(its so very frequent in her house....).0 -
Morning Ceridwen, my mother is a complete messie so I don't have to live up to her standards; she believes kitchens and bathrooms should be clean but is fairly slack elsewhere. I was about 8 when she went back to work part-time but even when she was a SAHM, she always found something more interesting (probably crafts) to do and the housework went by the board.
I can remember frequent laundry crises as a nipper which resulted in some totally insane remedies like drying socks and underwear on a low heat in the oven before school (I am NOT making this up btw). In her defense, clothes were relatively more expensive then, and we were quite hard up, so probably could have done with a few more changes. I think I was the only girl in school at risk of having scorch marks on her knee-high white socks.:rotfl:
Mum just rang me on my mobile and said; "You're online, aren't you?!" Guilty as charged, am using the dial-up. They've decided to risk the weather and aren't leaving just yet so I will get another 60 minute warning. They have a few spits of rain but Provincial City is in sunshine and blue sky. There's a place about 10 miles out, in their direction, where there is a weather front and it's always different on either side of it. One time when I had a car, I crawled out of PC at 15 mph in a complete white-out fog and 10 miles down the road, suddenly came into strong sunlight, just as if the fog was held back by a rope. Weird!
Anyway, gonna finish this cuppa and get a wriggle on. Mum won't judge me for untidiness but it would be helpful if they had a space on the shelf (sorry, that was a sofa?) to sit down.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Good morning messies
I did so well yesterday, I cleaned 2 fridges and managed to hoover the livingroombut then I go all the ebay stuff down from the bedroom and the living room looked like a bomb had gone off
my OH had 3 PC's to fix too so what with wires and boxes everywhere Im not sure why I bothered
I did get lots listed on ebay so hope to get it all sold and out of my bedroom so I can get to my bed without stubbing my toes soon :rotfl:
Thank you for the oven tip as that is my next major clean up I NEED to do, I am so embarrassed with my kitchen I have never let it get this bad before
My DD always introduces me to her friends as mum the clean freak, Im deff not that these days (only at work and in others houses)
My problem is I have dodgy knees too and have to think before getting down on the floor in case I can't get up again but then I could do the floor while Im stuck down there :rotfl:
I hope to get a little bit done today, not sure what yet as I need another coffee 1st to wake up :rotfl: I know papers need sorting and I can sit down for that job :rotfl:
I agree rigsby that hugs icon is dodgy :rotfl:
Have a good day everyoneGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Morning messies.
Not been very productive over the last couple of days. friday was a bit of a down day, so just took it easy, and yesterday was spent collecting some chickens from someone who isn't able to keep them any longer and getting them settled in. One of them is an Orpington and she's absolutely HUGE! But very adorable with lovely soft feathers.
Am also picking up a couple more today. These ones are a breed that I've been wanting to get for ages, but they're very hard to find. I saw an ad on Birdtrader the other day for them, so we're off to collect them later this morning, but it means that today will be pretty non productive too due to the distance we need to travel and then later I need to get a bit of shopping.
However, I have been doing the dishes after dinner, so the kitchen's still pretty tidy.0 -
I sometimes think I should pay someone to come and tut at the house once a week. It might shame me into doing something. I generally do well if we know we are having visitors, but I try to avoid having them.
Today I must clear the dining table, which is covered with paperwork and clean washing, so we can eat roast chicken together rather than all four squashed on a two seater sofa. Well, the washing was clean but it appears a cat has slept in it last night. Humph.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
OK, I am logging off now, this is my list for today/
Washing washed dried and TIDIED AWAY!
Last nights dishes done
Living room tidied (scariest one)
Paperwork started
I am going to stay away from the laptop today. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Morning Messies
I have been missing in action for the last couple of days. They were busy and long days so housework has slipped a bit. Have had a tidy up so far whilst waiting for my cuppa to cool (can't drink it hot) and now I am going to make a start on the front room. My Dad is coming for dinner, so there is my incentive to get something done!

Morning:j
I have a lot to try and do today. I am still plodding along in the garden and it is gradually getting a bit tidier. Although I now have a huge pile of wood and stuff to got to the tip and I have lost OH for a good few hours today as the F1 is on tv:mad:
My teenager's bedroom is also ongoing so may have to do some in there if the rain starts.
I do need to pop to my allotment at some point too even if it's just to get two garden chairs for my back garden:o
House wise it's a shocker:eek: and I haven't done the uniforms yet:eek: Why don't I do these things on a Friday night instead of leaving it until the last minute?
So have a good day everyone and catch you later:DGood Enough Club member number 20 -

I am going to stay away from the laptop today.[/QUOTE]
This is a big problem for me, I have a MAJOR obsession with the computer and always have done since we had one . I tried that egg timer thing that was suggested but when the time ran out i was just like "oh well i'll have a bit longer on it".
Having said that i have cleaned the bathroom just now but i really need to crack on with the kitchen as there will only be about another 4-5 15 minute
sessions in their, minus the cooker tho.
Carry on the good work all you lovely messies.
