My home is a mess

Afternoon Messies, and welcome to Wilf and Badger!
Wilf, as Cat has said, you're ill, so you will be lacking in energy and motivation. Maybe try soworried's method of making yourself do one task every hour? Also for you, Badger. That way, you take tiny baby steps, but get some encouragement that you can do something positive about the mess.
Of course, Cat, anytime - well, may not any time, if you want a fairly speedy answer.bearcub thank you for the pm offer - I'll probably do that once I get my thoughts in some kind of order if that's ok? xx
hugs all xx
Btw, could your DS help you with the WM?
As usual on a Sunday, I've done very little. Loaded the WM before I went out this morning - longer out than usual, as it was church lunch as well. Hung washing up in the conservatory when I got home. Started putting away last night's washing-up but got caught up in watching the women's road race on tv. Not overly interested in the race itself, but it passes through a lot of areas we know well, cos we used to live near some of them, and DD2 still does.
Something I intended to do yesterday was to sort out all the magazines I have in the bedroom, and shred some papers. will do that in a mo.0 -

am going to start the grocery challenge in august too, and stick to it
i tend to start these things and then lose motivation,
I'm exactly the same
I did the challenge once - last November I think - and got really into it but then it was Christmas, then other things happened, and I never got started again....I really should give it another go but not August, September probably
bear yes DS is just home from his darts tournament and says he'll give me a hand with the WM

Hi messies, just had a thunderstorm here, not much happening with de-messying but I have made some bread.
I tried the GC a couple of times but found it difficult to stick to - it did help me to realise how unrealistic I was being with my budgetting though, and I have learned a lot from my failed attempts to stick to one.
The crickets have settled in to the faunarium very well, and they are chirping very nicely. The ones in the garden seem to be surviving so far, at least some of them - the blackbird has been looking distinctly smug  I haven't heard any distant screams so hopefully none are terrorising the neighbours yet either.
Hope the bread turns out ok - I've had the flour for a few months but the use by date is 2013 so it should be ok.
Have a lovely evening all!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

We are a family of four, me (Susan) my husband and my daughter age 15 and son age 13. We have just started yellow sticker shopping in the last few months since losing my pay packet.
I also count the cleaning things in it as well.
I have just been YS shopping at 7pm and this is what I have got.
I posted this on the freezer thread I mentioned earlier.
I've just got back as well and have 4 bags full for £16
I have had to use my tetris skills to fit it all in. I thought at one point that I was going to have to cook some of it now.

3x apple and sage marinated pork steaks down from £3 to 74p

1x chilli beef skewers reduced from £3 to 74p
1x lge punnet of peaches down from £1.95 to 49p

That is it, I am not shopping again until the Lidl Thursday deals.£36/£240

One step must start each journey
One word must start each prayer
One hope will raise our spirits

Soworried, that's a marvellous selection for such a low cost. :T Since coming onto MSE, I've been a lot more conscious of 'sensible' shopping ie when items I'd usually buy are on SO, I'll buy more than one, the number dependiong on what the item is. I'm also a lot more aware of YS items now, but don't have a reason to go out of my way to find them. It's just that it seems silly to ignore something that's on SO that we'd probably use anyway. It's amazing just how much it saves.
Jps, I hope your bread turned out ok. We spent out on a BM, with money that I was given for my birthday. I didn't need anything personal, and have enjoyed the bread so much more than supermarket stuff, and we've saved money already.
Lots of really black clouds have gone over, but we've had sun nearly all day. DD1 in Pompey, though, had the same pouring rain that Surrey had. I guess Bournemouth and Poole did, too, which is waht often happens in the summer.
Magazines all sorted, with some put in a carrier to give to a friend, and others put in order of reading. Also shredded papers, and other waste papers put in the recycling. Bathroom cleaned, too. Not bad for a Sunday.0 -
Hi all
Hubby took the kids out today and I did very little. In fact the more I lazed about the more tired I felt if that makes sense! Need to get myself in some kind of routine, just because the kids are on holiday doesnt mean I can completely forget about doing any work!
Having a crisis at the moment because we have arranged to go away at the end of August. We have had something organised with my brother for months and he will be really upset if we dont go. Mum and Dad were going to have the dog for the weekend and now they cant. Its not their fault and they feel bad about it.
We will have only had the dog a month by then and I really dont want to leave him. Whats he going to think if we put him in kennels?
Right - bed time - the kids are still up and arguing by the sounds of it. Better go and sort them out.0 -
I've just got home from hols at my parents and my house is not only pretty messy it SMELLS. So job number 1 tomorrow is to figure out why. We cleaned the living room carpet just before we went away so with it being so hot and the house being shut up for 10 days maybe that's why. I also have to de-messy DD's room as she wants to de-pink, being a 7 year old would-be goth.0

Hi All
Not checked in for a while and I am miles behind on reading the posts but - definately will do, Promise!
I am stiil very much a messy, and have tried and clearly failed to mend my ways.
My kitchen is new and so I do keep that clean and perfect and have never let any clutter stray back in there (so far!). At the time we had it done I binned absolutely all sorts and donated lots to the CS and had real motivation.
Sadly my get up and go has got up and left the building!
I am fine at doing lots of hours at work (including extra unpaid ones as we are short staffed at the moment), and I am fine at getting out and about and buying xmas presents. But when it comes to the house I am so disorganised and just can't be bothered.
I will have to wander in here more regularly to get some motivation from you guys to get me up and running again. XxAims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.
