My home is a mess

Morning
Woken up with a cracking headache (probably as a result of the thunder rumbling around) and already having a bad pain day. Determined to achieve something today even if it is just my decluttering challenge.
Feel really motivated just reading through your posts so thank you all very much. I just love the baby steps concept.

Good morning fellow messies! I have arisen from my pit determined to Get On with Stuff today. Stuff I intend is principally on my allotment, so not a lot will be done around the homestead.
Yesterday was a bit rubbish in that I felt exhausted and lacked motivation after work but I managed to fillet the carp out of my wallet and reconciled the hole-in-the-wall receipts with my bank statements and filed a lot of stuff that was sitting on top of the file box. I have added one more thing to the box top afterwards so the new pile has a good foundation......:o That's meant that the shredding pile had bumped up a bit too. My cunning plant for next week is to turn 2 wee savings accounts into 1 slightly bigger one thus HALVING THE PAPERWORK. Clever, huh?
My procrastination has served a useful purpose in that a wee something which was offered on Freecycle last week but had no takers had made it no further than the c.s. bag which is roosting on the sofa (:o) when someone emailed to ask was it still available? It was and she has it now, so that's a blessing.......:rotfl:
You've got to laugh, my Mum (she lives an hour's drive away) has become intrigued with my Freecycling misadventures and is turfing out some stuff for my to do in the city so my dejunking my life is causing a net gain of stuff......You might be thinking, why doesn't she Freecycle it on her local group, and she did join, offered up stuff, and was let down my every single numptie who said they wanted it and would collect it that day, so left in disgust.
Life; it's what's happening when you're making other plans.
BB, hope you feel a bit better later today.
Have a productive day y'all, but don't forget we are the Messies and we do have standards to live down to.;)Oh, I have got into the habit of washing supper dishes soon after I've finished eating, whatever's come over me, I feel peculiar......
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just thought i'd pop on again before leaving for work to ask if anyone knows if and where you can get large pots of baking powder from please?
The little ones they do in the supermarkets are used up before you know it, i used some with vinegar on the grease marks in the kitchen last night and it worked brilliantly.
Thanks

Loving it!!!
Well I am back to say all last nights dishes are soaking, there is bleach in the loo, the bed is made - not a lot but not bad given I feel as crap as I do.
I have washings to do and I will do the bathroom in stages (every time I need to use the loo I will do another job:o)0 -
Hope your kids rise to the challenge Taliahmai (Lindsay). Somebody said something about teaching their boy to be a good husband (or something like that), I always said that I didn't want another woman saying 'I blame his mother' about my son not cleaning/tidying etc. However, because of my poor health, I have really let things slide and they have had a bad example to follow and I never made them do any cleaning, tidying etc. So now they are grown up and complete messies too. One day some woman is going to be cursing me. I wish I had been tougher and made the effort to train my kids up when they were young. It would have been easier all round in the long run.
All that, to say, keep it up and persevere with your kids. Esther
Totally agree esther! My boys are 7 and 8 and my dd is 4 -they all know to pick up their dishes, empty them and put them in the sink. I get them all to lay out the dinner table and then to clean table afterwards. They also help to tidy up - my 8 year old did the hoover before school yesterday while I had my shower! Our house is still always a mess andvery lived in, but the kids know they have to help to tidy up. I really bellieve any skills we can teach our kids when they are young will help them to manage their homes and lives when they are older.
Household and financial management are things we should all teach our kids..... although, much as I try I am sure my lot will grow up to be poor slobs!!0 -
Doing things in mini 15 minute or so bursts is getting things up to date gradually. Over the last week - I've gone through a sitting room cupboard, two meditation room cupboards, a chest of drawers and airing cupboard and been chucking and organising. Yesterday - decided I might as well "double up" and was clearing through nearby paperwork whilst sitting looking out the window enjoying listening to rain.
The understairs cupboard item of furniture hopefully moving out today to a new home with a Lets member and I've put up various other items listed "for sale" for Lets credits and hopefully they will go soon and there will be more space and easier to see exactly what I have in order to keep it clean and tidy.
Have come to the conclusion that the more "hemmed in" I feel by all the b****y development going on around and losing sight more and more of bits of "greenery" here and even of the skyline there (as buildings are getting taller:mad: to cram more people in) then the greater the necessity to have as much space as possible in my own home to try and counterbalance and not feel "squeezed for space on all fronts".0 -
I am now showered and have a clean bathroom
the washing is in the machine (must remember to turn it on
) then a start on fridge before shopping.
I think that is all I will be doing today (and ebaying to declutter)

I have a sparkling clean car, inside and out. Anyone who knows me will faint if they hear this.
I was a bit preoccupied yesterday and needed something to distract me, and it did the job nicely. The kitchen is going to get straightened up next, and then this livingroom is in trouble. I am trying to keep busy to stop me thinking about some things in my life that are bothering me, so my house may be bottomed out by the end of the weekend  or I may sit on my backside and wallow!

Good morning to all the messies:p
Well my plans of doing a lot more in the garden and then to my allotment are looking like they wont happen:( It is raining, now my allotment will love it but I can't go outside without my toddler insisting she come too and her wellies don't fit anymore.
I could declutter my teenagers pit while he isn't here but I'm not sure I can even get through the door:o
The house is very untidy at the moment so it's not as though I have nothing to do at all:rotfl:
I've been looking on my local freecycle for a few things I need but nothing yet.
I hope everyone is ok and have a lovely productive/relaxing weekend:j
