Don't you just love it when a plan comes together, Frugal and Alec eiffel (love the name!)? And welcome, AE!

I've now swept the kitchen floor,a nd just cleaned a couple of marks off the carpets in the LR and here. Next week, I must phone the carpet cleaners to come and give our LR carpet a total clean, before all the rain of autumn and winter. ;) :rotfl:

Snookey, we've had a couple of sunny days this week, too, and it started sunny today. Bit wet now, though. Still, can't do any gardening, so I'll just have to do some de-messying. (Ambles off to dust the lounge)

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm so glad I found this thread.

Bedding washed and hung out to dry, washing up done, bedroom windows washed, one curtain ironed and rehung. Just having a cuppa break before I go back to the ironing.

Could somebody direct me to the Grabbit board steam mop please? Who knows what I might acheive when suitably armed?

Still haven't tackled the Wardrobe of Doom though.
The time has to be right for these things and clearing out the garage for my big store cupboard order got in the way.

 Do you think you need to call in Harry Potter?

Welcome alec eiffel. Well done Frugal, Buttercup & Bearcub.
I didn`t get far with the rug-darning, Strimmer Man came round with some mint plants so I planted them in a big pot, then next door spotted me and came for a chat. Very pleasant, but distracting. (Thankfully she`s not the sort to go about later telling folks that I darn carpets! OH & I just having a good laugh about this. Plus the fact that `IF they really wanted something to gossip about...` he should nip round and explain that it`s a second-hand one I was starting to darn!!! How OS Money-Saving is THAT!?)
Anyway, I have given up for now and changed into glad-rags for the pub.
Lacey cream vest top (from CS) olive green trousers (bottom half of a trouser suit from CS) & tweed jacket (from car boot 3 years ago). I feel quite smart, though the most expensive thing I`m wearing is the pong I bought the other week (I`m still saying THANKYOU to Cat for telling me about it btw - hope she`s having a lovely time in Devonxx)

Possession - I have the opposite problem to your wardrobe of Doom - I have an empty wardrobe in the spare room, and 2 bedroom Heaps of Doom - one on a chair, the other on a cane table. It took me so long to get around to clearing a space to actually GET to the wardrobe, then empty it, I want to re-fill it very carefully but first I`ll need to sort the Heaps of Doom, or I`ll be back to square 1 again. That`s another procrastinated task....
Meanwhile I`m window-gazing again - there`s a woodpecker on the peanuts, a few goldfinches on the nyger, and a load of sparrows on the ground where I cut down the giant dock plant that Strimmer Man`s strimmer couldn`t cut.
    Have a nice evening all.
Drags self off to finish getting ready (ie, find shoes...)for the pub.

I bet you look fantastic, Emms. Have a lovely evening. Yes, I really hope Cat's having a good holiday, even if the weather's probably not too good.

I finally gave in and cleaned the wall next to the computer. I keep scuffing the toe of my shoe against the wall, as I spin in the chair. I've previously tried cleaning off the scuff marks with general cleaner - didn't work; then cleaner plus soft scourer, which just started removing the paint from the wall. Just tried soft cloth and cream cleaner, and hey presto, the marks are best part gone now! WHY didn't I try that before? I've also dusted the LR, and cleaned the saucepan cupboard, which I suddenly realised, when I put the small frying pan away, was filthy! My OH is seriously impressed with this forum! :)

I have only in the last year discovered the joy of cream cleaner. Wow, I love that stuff!

Possibly. I'm reasonably sure Voldemort is lurking.

Emm if you hear hissing and strange snake language coming from your Heaps of Doom at least you know what it is......

    Hi everyone

Pretty quiet day from me, had a lovely sleep for the first time in ages, and got up and sat in the garden while OH had a clear out.

    I've emptied the dishwasher
Bought in and folded washing off the line

Oh that's it lol but I have discovered that the local library does e books so I started a new book and am over half way through.

Oh well there is always tomorrow

I've decided that I can only read this thread while I'm at work. That way I can't see the mess of my own home and feel guilty that i'm not doing anything about it while you're all making progress!

I think I'm on strike this week - I just didn't realise it. When I get home from work I think "I really should tackle some of this mess" and then I think "s*d It, why should I?" I've had a long day at work and I want to put my feet up so I do. And then I read Soworried's great progress and everyone else's exploits and think "nah really, I ought to do something about it". so if I stick to reading at work, I'll only be inspired to tidy my desk and I can well and truly procrastinate the house until the weekend. When i've volunteered to be out both days anyway. And then another week of work and CBA when I get home. And then we go on holiday!!!!!

I was actually feeling really quite positive as I was typing that. Very much revelling in my role as the Queen of Procrastination. Thinking maybe I could stave off the need to tidy for the whole of July!

And then I remembered the MIL and her sister are coming when we get back from holiday - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Oh well, we get back Sat pm and MIL won't arrive till Monday PM so that gives me a whole 48 hours. And the house ain't that big. So it won't quite be August but I'm not doing any more until then.

Except maybe the bathroom - its minging. And my kitchen, because its lovely and I like having it tidy so I can make lots of mess baking.

    But nothing else. Honest!

    Hi everyone!!

Got back about an hour and a half ago and have spent that time going across the road for a Chinese and catching up here! I had a good holiday but the weather was pretty appalling most of the time - quite a lot of flooding round about and not really the weather for walking :(

I've read everyone's posts for the last week but just can't remember very much of what I've read - ((((hugs)))) to YL, hope things are little better now, and who kidnapped soworried?? That is surely not the same person who was here 8 days ago??!!:D:D:T:T

Welcome new messies :) Great to see you :)

Lots of busy-ness from everyone I see, well done!:T

I'm pretty tired after the journey so no plans tonight, will just wash up the tea dishes, fall into bed, and get back on the demessying wagon tomorrow!

    hugs all xxx
