Morning all
Still taking baby steps today, and not going to push myself too much, don;t want to make this a cleaning lark a chore, hoping to make it fun.....
So going to get dressed (normally spend a few hours on here before getting dressed), and then going to tackle a few things that i have been putting off for a while....
Dusting the glass table
5 mins declutter of the computer station (Junk dumping ground) Done but did take longer than 5 mins.....
Bath room floor sweep and wash
Washing on line and more in the washer Done
Going out tonight with the girls so if i have time will have an hour in the gym and then back to shower and to get ready....
Have fun - in whatever you do to day

Dog woke me at the crack of 7.30 so got up and did breakfast while OH put out the rubbish (all of it). Out soon to do weekly shop and need to make a list so I don't buy what I already have - files are definitely on the list! Also need to water plants in greenhouse before I go out.
Have a good day fellow messies - the baby steps are definitely working and to anyone having a cba day - enjoy it and treat yourself rather than feeling guilty.
Taliahani (don't think that's spelt right) have you tried sanctions for your kids? I found sometimes that for example 'you can't have friends around to play if the house is a mess, if you make a mess no friends around' I also just used to gather all DD stuff up and dump it in a box in her room, and when she couldn't find anything reminded her that she might have dumped it around the house and to look in the box. I tried this with DD (admittedly now she is 24) and it did seem to work fairly well (she is a messie head too). As they seem to manage this when they visit their dad it's not fair that they inflict their mess on you.
Chin up - today is the first day of the rest of our lives with a tidy house! (think I've nicked that from someone much wiser than me).0 -
Up late this morning everyone slept in even the dog!. He was on my chair snoring away . Son took his time even though he was late and daughter in a stropp. We all got in late last night so everyone knackered.
My eight year old daughter has decided she is going to be an Emo and dye her hair pink!. Im sure she will have the attitude for it.
Not sure what Im going to tackle this morning Ill let you know later on when Iv woke up.0 -

EstherH - sorry but have no idea on what to suggest as I didn't realise that startdrops stained - I'll be more careful in future so thanks for the warning, isn't it a real bummer when you lose a piece of clothing that you really like - I had a pink jumper that I loved and wore it all the time until it became threadbare and of no use to anyone or thing!!
Taliamai - we're gonna have to think of a shorter name for ya as we all keep spelling it wrong:o I also do the same as Soupdragon - I bag up all their carp and dump it in their bedrooms - its up to them to deal with it then - if it isn't sorted within a week I go up there with a black bag and threaten to either chuck it or watch them clear it away - try that a few times and they soon learn to put away the bagged stuff - I have no problem with them playing with their stuff - but they have to clear it away!! Your 8 year old is perfectly capable of doing that [mine boy is 8] - try to remember that you are training him to become the perfect partner for a future girlfriend/boyfriend!!! Hehehe Your 4 year old could become Mummy's helper - give her a duster and let her get on with it, maybe she gets a weekly treat to the park if she picks up all her toys when you tell her to - lots of positive cooing when she does it right and no response when she doesn't - just a gentle reminder about the treat thats on offer - keep at it hun and we're all behind you 100% of the way
Today I have WM x 1, hung up yesterdays washing on the line and I'm now off to sort out some housework
Have a lovely day everyone

just read back a little... i never use a toilet brush in this house
they're a pet hate of mine. i just imagine them to be full pf germs and bits and bobs from the toilet. i did use disposable ones for a while but they are very expensive. but now i just put bleach down the loo (usually after hubby has been in there!) and that cleans it... it does mean i go through a fair bit of bleach but i know its the easiest way of keeping it clean. sometimes if i have run out of bleach i drop a milton tablet in it and leave it over night. does the same job

Taliamai i dont have older children but my ds is just two. when he was younger he would leave a trail of destruction behind him too. i simply looked at everything from his point ofo view. i have hundreds of dvds which he would pull of the shelves several times a day. telling him no just didnt work. so i boxed them all up and put them in my bedroom. he has a small dvd case of his dvds that he can look at but helps reduce mess. also all his toys are in lidded boxes. he brings a few books down and puts them in his book bag to keep them tidy. at night they go up with him and put away. i think part of it is building tidying up into their routine. i would also make sure that if he got something he shouldnt ie a pile of washing, then think how he got it. did i leave it in his reach etc...
with the older two, i would say they are old enough to help out with chores. perhaps have a list of chores they can help with and have them choose something every day. your 4yr old can do some dusting, have a go with dust pan and brush even putting washing into the machine (obv make sure no red socks in with white wash etc!)
sorry i'm in a waffly mood"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0
