Wow - everyone seems super-busy at the moment, even if its not on de-messying! Me? I haven't done a bloomin' thing!

Had a training course today which was 10-3 to give plenty of travelling time for everyone. As it was only 30 miles down the road for me, made it a nice short day! And somehow the rest of the day has disappeared. Helped OH measure up for new lounge windows. Picked up prescription from docs. Made dinner. Thats about it. And somehow its nearly bed time!

Oh, and had quite a scary trip to the supermarket. The rain here is biblical at the moment. I think the village might actually be cut off by now. First road I wanted to take was blocked with flood water. Took a different route and had to get through 2 really deep puddles (including one which was washing into the houses if the cars made waves going through ). On the way home, went a 3rd way back and the police were turning folk back because the water was 3ft deep! So back past the flooded houses and a guy there said the roundabout on the other road is also flooded. Hope we can get out tomorrow! Although we are supposed to be camping tomorrow night so maybe best to find ourselves trapped :rotfl:

One coat on the woodwork. :j I was dead beat after a week at work, and had done a double shift tutoring, but it's amazing what a bit of adrenaline can do :rotfl:

Minions nagged into kitchen. Sulkily. DD's friends have just left, DS didn't want to do it until DD could help, and now it's too late for any reasonable person to expect them to do anything, apparently.

However, they're going to their dad's tomorrow, and they are NOT leaving it for me.

I don't know about the weather tomorrow, but I feel I'd *really* like to finish off the garden. I have, of course, believed the garden was a weekend away from finished for weeks.

Oh-did I mention we're away next weekend?????? Boy, do I know how to make life complicated....

    It's ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ()

That is-my whole workplace is coming here three weeks today.

(It's been so long, I thought they'd forgotten)

Is running around in circles making terrified squeaky noises going to get me where I need to be, do you think?

    Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!

Forgot to say - Yes, I think you can get to where you want to be by running round in circles. As long as where you want to be is really dizzy with a garden *almost* finished and a house in whatever state it currently is. If I was one of your colleagues, that would be fine with me. I'm sure it will be fine with the rest of 'em too.:D

Me again !. I just had to report that Iv decluttered a load more carp from kitchen, washed the kitchen floor, hall and family room, three more loads of washing and thats me jiggered. Im now off to bed.
Laurel isnt it funny how its too late for them, but not when you have to do it. It seems mums can clean at all hours and usually do.
  • Hi Messies!
Thanks Cat & Lyrolee for the moonflower info. Trouble with the Ebay thing is it`s still discontinued...if I got some, I`d be dreading using it up as it`d be the last, I wouldn`t enjoy using it as much.. What I`m really after is something that smells like it but isn`t about to become extinct, IYSWIM! I might go and have another `sniff around` at DKNY stuff though (and probably come home smelling dreadful again!)
Laurel - don`t fret, I`m sure your colleagues will appreciate your hospitality AND bravery! I know I would.

Well done all who`ve been busy, however little it seems...or how late in the day it got done! Yesterday evening I cleared about half the surface of the desk in my bedroom - one WM load, 3 new toothbrushes, the wind-up torch I`d though was lost outside months ago (???), my favourite sun hat (not that I seem to need it now!), Daftie-dog`s Skin Calm spray, 15 coathangers, and a small carrier bag collection of rubbish!

Today - need to visit farm shop - kindling sticks for fire, sack of sunflower seeds, and some veg... also need milk & bread for when DS returns (?tomorrow night) & get something out of freezer for tonight & tomorrow.
Work on Sunday, so not planning anything major today...yet, anyway!
Have a nice Saturday, all of you - and Laurel - don`t panic!
Drags self off to go shopping...

    Afternoon Bunnies.

How scary, laurel, having lots of people around. Circles? Not sure about that but, when your head stops spinning, I bet it concentrates your mind, and your de-messying. Your garden is already lovely, so that can be left for a while, can't it?

I gather you must be in the north then, sonastin? I read about the flooded roads, must be awful and very scary.

Cat, isn't is odd how we look at a clearing up job, and dread it because of the time it takes then, when we actually get around to doing it, we find it doesn't actually take that long at all? I even find that when I'm colouring my hair - I put it off until it can't be delayed any longer.
    Bearcub - Ironing? WHY???
Simply because we don't have (nor will I have) a tumble drier, and I prefer not to wear creased shirts and tops. I like the pillowcases ironed, too, because they feel nicer. OH never has most of his polo tops ironed as they get worn to the livery yard, anyway, and the horses don't care! The amount of ironing I do is pretty minimal, really, because I tend to live in jeans or jods, plus sweatshirts, which is why I keep putting it off until I've run out of tops to wear.

Sounds as if you had a highly successful time charity shop hunting. Our village has a lot of charity shops, but I rarely find clothes I like in any of them, but have found table mats (brand new), books, and jigsaws (for Mum). I'd have a lot more success if I went into some of the charity shops in town, but we have so many other shops to visit while there, I never bother.

This afternoon, I have to go over to see Mum. About time I had a cuppa with her, and picked some broad beans (yuk!) and peas from our shared veggie garden ie it's in her garden, but we look after it between us. I have washing on the line - hope it stays, there, given the wind today. And finish the newsletter and email it for checking, before sending it on to half of West Wight. I have put some of my card materials away, but I have four cards that need finishing off. Not sure whether to do that now, or wait until I know who I'm giving them to. Must give the duster some exercise this afternoon, too. Oh, and I have to make a cheesecake for tomorrow's church anniversary lunch.

OOOH, Bearcub - Broad beans?? have you tried them in parsley sauce, with lumps of bacon or ham mixed in? Or boiled lightly, take the outer tough-ish beanshell off, then pound the inside bits with garlic, lemon juice, olive oil & black pepper - makes a lovely `guacamole` type spread, you`d never recognise it as made of beans! (I used to think I didn`t like them before I tried these 2 recipes.)

    Cat - Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!(((HUGS))XXXX
I called in at our `posh` Boots on the way to farmshop earlier, tried 2 of the Delicious pongs - there were several types, so I just tried 2, one on each wrist, then went to farmshop to give the pongs time to settle. One smelt dreadful, but the other one was exactly what I`ve been wanting. (It`s the green one) So I went back to Boots and treated myself, before I change my mind! Thankyou SO much Cat, I`m really chuffed to bits - it`s made up for having rain all my week off!

Messy-wise? Not much to report. Changed Henry`s bag, had a quick chase round the dust buffaloes in LR & kitchen, put some clothes away to minimise the `chinese laundry` effect, and going to make a fire next.
I`m doing swede (MICROWAVED!) and spud mash, spring cabbage and liver/onions for supper, then early night.
Have a good weekend Messies xx

yaaay Emm so pleased!!:j I hope you don't go off it!!:rotfl:

sonastin how's things where you are now? I've seen some photos from W Yorkshire around Hebden Bridge and it looks just awful :( I always feel so grateful that I don't live in an area at risk of flooding.

Broad beans are one of the few vegetables I just don't want to even try, which I think is a mistake. I think it's something to do with the colour.....I won't say any more!!:p

bearcub I hate colouring my hair and leave it till long after it needs doing, it's such a messy hassle!:o

DD2 came in - with her EMA forms for me to get sorted this week. She didn't say much else but according to my mum she's off to her dad's this week for a while. Just have to go with the flow, she'll be back in a few weeks. :(

Somehow managed to sleep till a ridiculous time today, I guess being awake a lot in the night didn't help. Have done nothing except take rubbish and recycling out and speak to mum on the phone for about half an hour. House to myself till about 10, DS watching footie at his mate's house, possiblility he might end up staying over.

Today's list is even smaller than usual - but it IS the weekend;)

    [STRIKE]Take out rubbish[/STRIKE]

    15 minutes clothes sorting

    Finish clearing PC desk

I'm always more productive in the evening so I'm not concerned that I haven't got very far :)

    hugs everyone :) xxx

I'll give the recipe with parsley sauce a miss, Emms, but I may try the other one. I don't actually like many pulses, except runner beans, peas, lentils (curried) and certain makes of baked beans. I have a particular dislike of chickpeas and kidney beans, and basically don't like the outer shells, so the spread could be good. DD2, being a veggie, is really into pulses, which is just as well as she can't stomach eggs nowadays, which just leaves cheese for protein otherwise.

Must be hard, Cat, but I'm sure both will eventually appreciate you making an effort to put yourself right, IYKWIM. You're getting there, very, very slowly.

Have picked the peas and beans, have drained the mandarins, and grated the rind and squeezed the juice of the lemon for the cheesecake. Washing's been brought in, and put in appropriate places. Trouble is I keep going off to watch the festie on the pooter. :)
