Good news about the windfall, snookey. :T

Re Chris Packham, Cat - OH and I saw him filming in the Isle of Man last year, along with Martin Hughes-Games. The latter is lovely, whereas CP is as arrogant (look at me, me, me!) as he comes across on tv. Would it have hurt him to actually thank the cafe staff that day, for all the bending over backwards they'd done for the team? Actually, probably, yes, because he's not used to doing it.

On that note, I think it's bedtime. Zzzzzzz!

No posts today, where is everybody then? Busy cleaning and tidying or doing other more interesting things?

Have spent the whole day on the computer doing paperwork for my voluntary job and my eyes hurt and my back aches. Cant believe I used to spend up to 50 hours a week looking at a computer screen.

So no de-messying done here at all. In fact there is a big pile of ironing from yesterday sitting on our bed so I need to put it away really.

Hope you are OK Cat. I have never smoked thankfully but it must be really hard to give it up - especially when life isnt going well anyway.

Sonastin your post was great. It does all feel a bit pointless sometimes doesnt it?

Off to make a brew and sort that ironing. Oooh need to check my listings on ebay too and see if I have got any bids.

I'm ok thanks YL :) - hope you and the family are ok too! xx

Today I have - washed up, and put the frying pans in to soak - yuk, hate that job! Done a washing and decluttered round the bath/basin. Taken another bag of carrier bags to the charity shop.

I made a small list - cancel an appt for DS (we'll be on holiday hopefully), de-clutter 2, or maybe all 3, of the storage baskets on the bathroom windowsill, sweep bathroom floor and clean the toilet. So far I've only done the first:o:o I actually only made the list because I picked up the phone to cancel the appt and thought it would be nice to actually cross it off!

I might make a big master list of very small jobs, or jobs broken down into very small bits, then transfer 3-5 a day onto a daily list - this might be counter-productive though as I get to cross an item off (the master list) without actually doing it:rotfl:

Hello yorkshirelass. Well done for doing the paperwork. Am I allowed to know what organisation you help? My DD1 works at a computer nearly all day - she works in admin at a university. don't know how she does it, although I spend a fair amount of time at the computer.

I have ironing to do, too, but I also have three birhtday cards to make, or to finish. I'd best part made one for DD1, only to decide that I didn't like it very much, so I started again.

I've spent this afternoon watching the rain, and keeping tabs on the news on the IOW festival website - horrendous, so glad I'm not going this year.

    Grr this rain!!! :(:(:(

Would there be any chance of a pic of the b'day cards when you've finished them? I'd like to see them :)

Bathroom floor swept, toilet cleaned. Will sort out the baskets while watching the football.

Have made tomorrow's list - clean bath, mop bathroom floor, sort out pile of junk on top of printer, and ....haven't come up with a fourth thing yet. Either clean the top of the cooker, do one bag of shredding, or clean the kitchen window. Cast your votes now please!!

And if I don't sort those baskets out tonight, that goes on the list too - I think this is the way to go, hopefully knowing that if I don't do things on the planned day they will get carried over and the lists will get worse and worse will be an incentive. I MUST keep posting here though.
  • Hi all,

not got much done today, just a load of washing and a bit of tidying! I was too busy as i had to take my 2 girls and their 2 friends to see the Olympic Torch go through one of our local towns today! what a lovely experience it was for them, i doubt they'll ever get to see the olympic flame again!!

Hope everyone else has had a good day?

Hello Cat and farmerswife. Sorry, Cat, for some reason, I didn't see your earlier post. I can see your point about transferring tasks from one list to another, but surely you wouldn't allow yourself to be fooled that way, would you? ;)

Of course, I'll post pictures of the cards, but probably over the weekend. I've already taken a pic of DD1's card, as I was very pleased with the second one, and I've already put it in an envelope ready to post tomorrow. The other two need finsihing off, although one, for DD2's bf, isn't needed for a couple of weeks. I like to keep a stash of cards ready, but I find men's cards difficult to make - never can think what to put on them!

Whereabouts are you, farmerswife? We don't get the torch here until the 17th July, but at least we get the chance to see it at this end of the island. The other end doesn't get to see it at all!

The rain here has caused absolute chaos here on the island, and in Portsmouth. A waterlogged carpark at the festival meant that cars had to be pulled out by tractors, and metal tracking put down elsewhere. That meant that cars couldn't get onto the site, so massive traffic jams built up. People were taking 5 hours to travel 4 miles, cars coming off the ferries couldn't get onto the roads, and the next lot coming across couldn't get off the ferry. So, there was a huge build up of cars in Portsmouth. I sent a text to DD1 to warn her not to go home from work anywhere near the seafront. so glad we're not going to the festie this year.

Just off to bed, have decluttered those baskets, but washed the fabric lining so waiting for those to dry before the things which made the cut get replaced.

Tidied up a corner of LR which was heaped with DD1s stuff. I hate just shoving things into boxes without decluttering or sorting but I guess that isn't my job :(

Scrubbed the frying pans and a few other bits and pieces, no dishes left to do now.:j

Did another load of washing and hung it to dry.

Filled in online application form for DS's school clothing grant.

Sorry for listing all these little things, there's no need for anyone to read it, just getting it down helps me! :)

    Hugs all :) xxx
  • Hi Messies!
Sorry I`ve been absent for a bit - computer troubles (would happen when DS is away, wouldn`t it?!) but I`m quite proud of myself for getting it ALMOST sorted by myself, me being such a complete luddite!
Frugal & Sonastin - Hugs(()) & hope you`re feeling better - and all others who`ve been under the weather too.
Cat - Every little bit helps (as the old lady said when she wee`d in the sea!)I think you are doing great! Keep listing, keep posting!xx

Messy status here - bit like the weather really - not much to get exited about. LR & KItchen `ticking over` not too badly, tiny bits of garden tidying have been done in between showers, Upstairs is very hairy & clothing-strewn but am still waiting for the Urge...
Nearly had Urge yesterday, but had to nip into town, so made an outing of it and did a trawl of charity shops instead! (more on that later) At least I managed to keep out of Home Bargains and the rest!
Off to Post Office now - laters!xxx

thanks Emm - looking forward to hearing about your charity shop trawl!

Weather was awful here earlier, it's brightened up a bit now but still nothing like June should be. As for the forecast for the first week of July, I really wish I hadn't looked :( It's miserable for "summer" people, those who spend 9 months of the year just looking forward to summer only to get - this!!:(

Was going to have a very long lie this morning, but ended up upsetting myself when, for some reason, I remembered a series of books I always used to read to DDs when they were little. Then I had a meltdown about how quickly time passes and how I wish wish wish I could go back just for a day - realised if I stayed in bed I was just going to keep crying hysterically all morning so I got up.

    So today's list :

    [STRIKE]Make soup[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Mop bathroom floor[/STRIKE]
Clean woodwork in bathroom - half done
    Clean bath
Tidy/sort junk on top of printer

    hugs to all xxx
