My home is a mess

Thanks snookey! Your dad sounds like a gem, I often feel guilty that I accept so much help from my parents too, but thanks goodness they are there.
Don't squeeze that spot! It'll only get worse! If I get one on my face, which is thankfully rare, it's always right on the end of my nose or in the middle of my chin or forehead, where it can most easily be seen!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Amcluesent, way to go.
So, threw open the front door after coming in from work...and the house sparkles!
Everything in the kitchen degreased, cupboards cleaned, oven cleaned, walls washed down, everything dusted, bathroom suite pristine and all fingers marks gone from the paintwork etc.
I can definitely keep on top of this, but it would have been a 'mare to 'turn around' myself
N.B. It was £160 for a 2-bed to be cleaned top-to-bottom inside, carpets just hoovered not washed. Seems a lot, but pretty much any contact with chemicals sets off my skin condition, so I've avoided weeks of applying steroids.0 -
That must be lovely Amcluesent, I can't remember ever having the whole house clean in one go like that!
I am going to try and take up the stairs and hall carpet this summer, if we get any more hot weather, and give it a wash in the garden.
Long term plans:
Wash stair and hall carpet
Wash giant rag rugs (in the bath)
Wash all the remaining laundry in the boxroom
Clean out and tart up spare room
Finish painting main bedroom
Put up shelves in kitchen and bedrooms
Clear brushwood from the bottom of the garden
Build rose arbour/gazebo thingies from old leylandii poles.
These are "holiday" jobs, as I never get around to them in a weekend. I can dream!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Sigh. OH is in an 'everything is horrible' mode- life sucks, work sucks, everything sucks. Bleh. Always upsets me when he's like this, I take it so personally. Especially when I've been trying to be so positive despite the work side of my life feeling like it's rapidly sliding down the toilet. Came home all happy because I had a job interview that went really well, but now I've just let myself be dragged down. Going to do the washing up and go to bed I think. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day and all that

Hope you are feeling better Jps, sounds like a nice long sleep is in order.
And MM I can relate to your post, although its probably the other way around in our house at the moment - I am trying not to be a constantly moaning minnie honest!
Got sunburned today. How stupid. Been renovating our very tatty garden furniture and I was working half in the shade so I thought I would be OK. Very sore shoulders but at least the garden chairs are coming on nicely! Have to say I am really pleased at my efforts and for £18 worth of paint it was worth doing.0 -
Hugs MM, hope tomorrow is much better.
Thanks Yorkshirelass, I slept this afternoon quite a bit, still feeling very bleaurgh and will be off to sleep again soon. Hope that sunburn cools down quickly! It already feels cooler here tonight weatherwise - I had a funny moment earlier when I felt chilled to the bone even though it was 24 degrees outside!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Snookey and Jpscloud....don't feel guilty at taking help from your parents....my late mother used to say that it gave her pleasure to be able to help me during her lifetime, I have adopted the same policy with my now grown up children and she was right, it is wonderful to be able to help when they are struggling.

Hope you feel better soon, jps!
Me, bleugh.
Motivation...nil.
I came in from work, made three phone calls and went to bed for a half hour snooze. It didn't quite turn out to be half an hour...:o
And that was after a lazy weekend. My mum decided I needed some summer clothes, and practically forced me out of the door to go clothes shopping  . Then on Sunday, I was on the verge of doing something all morning before giving myself a good talking-to, and deciding that if I really wasn't going to get anything done, I might as well enjoy it. Cue shade, big pitcher of ginger beer and a book.:D
Partly regretting it now, as tomorrow I'm going to have another man peering through the upstairs windows (the honeysuckle has pulled down the drainpipe and yanked out some of the guttering), a skimmer walking through the living room (the carpet covered in the bits of scraped-off paint I keep treading through) to quote for sorting out the mess in the old toy room and TWO Ebay-type visitors to the Garage of Doom (but at least they'll be taking stuff with them when they leave:j). In between,I have to fit in a short-notice tutoring session. Oh, and an electrician is going to call with an appointment to remove a socket in the kitchen...so I can start making a mess in there, too...
I think I may have just convinced myself I deserved my day off...:eek:import this0 -
