Hi Emm I ordered the advantage spot on and the worm spot on so all treated thankfully. Just to add if you have pets Id advise using vivapets as they were by far the cheapest Iv used.
Emm you should see our room and the kitchen they both look as if someone was dossing in there, lol.
I bet that poem gave you a boost. Its really nice to be thought of.
  • Snookey - glad it`s sorted now! Advantage spot treatments are what I get, especially as they do one for ticks as well - a few years ago Daftie-dog kept getting ticks - couldn`t work out how she could have got them as she doesn`t go anywhere but our big wild back garden or walkies with us (not near other pets or where sheep etc. are kept) The vet chuckled and said I must have a healthy HEDGEHOG population in my wild garden! Sadly I know these are declining in numbers lately, and Daftie-dog stopped inviting their ticks home after the spot treatment which I`ve kept up, so I`ll never know!

I gave up on the LR tidying plan, as I put on my glad-ish rags after shower, so not a good idea to shake out hairy rugs.... have had a bit of a tidy, gathering random items for the bin, (WHY am I the only one who feeds that dustbin??) and then had a wander round the back. Am very happy to report that my 4 big pots of lavender, 2 of rosemary, 2 marjoram and one yellow thyme are all thriving beautifully and smelling great. A few ancient marigolds that continue self-seeding round the paved bit between the gaps are flowering again, and the rest is all a riot of yellow dandelions & long grass. (that`s the bit we once loosely called a lawn!) Apple trees are full of pink blossom and greedy birds on the feeders, and the wool dispenser thingy has been ravaged so there must be a few nests around... and that`s a great excuse for not disturbing things out there!
OK, I could have been de-messying in here, rather than standing around outside just looking, and then sharing my observations here - but I don`t feel it`s time wasted at all - quite the opposite!

    Rampant Recycler
Hello fellow Messies. Our council moves to a one week recycling, one week rubbish, system this week, so my aim is to make sure the recycling wheelie bin is absolutely chock- a - block with unwanted paperwork before it goes out on Friday. The previous collection day was Thursday, so one extra day to do this.
We've always been one of the first collected, a darn nuisance if you forgot to get the bins out the day before, since I was seldom dressed at 7am to do it, Thursday was nearly always a teaching day off when I worked in the community.

I've spent several hours yesterday and today playing with a new acquisition. I bought one of those 'folding screen' style earring holders for both dropped and pierced earrings. I have dozens of pairs, acquired over the last 20 years or so. They look great. I'm going to put up a cork board to display my necklaces hanging from push pins, so that I can find a matching necklace quickly.
So one messy problem - that of messy jewellery - solved!
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Kitty I like the cant be ar*** , it sums up my feeling towards housework.
Divvy dog keeps licking the bird through the cage bars and bird loves it. Just hope he is being nice and not getting a taste for bird. Dog has also chewed one of my kitchen chairs, could have throttled him.
Emm your garden sounds lovely. Hopefully Ill get our back looking decent for the summer.
Mc Iv got a round thingy m jig for earings . It keeps them tidy at least.
Tommorrow Iv got blood tests and outlaws visiting. I can not have anything to eat after 10.00 tonight so Iv just scoffed two icecreams. You would think I was going to be starved for weeks on end, lol.
Must go as Im going to bo boes early to read my book.
    Take care everyone.

Hey All, You probably won't remember me because I haven't posted on this thread for ages, but my home is still most definately a mess.

I have been reclaiming some money that was owed to us (via the reclaim threads on here, plus our savings, and decided to have a new kitchen as our units were falling apart and we had knackered walls etc. It sounded great in theory but in reality we have lived out of boxes with only a microwave and kettle for weeks, have had brickdust EVERYWHERE, and the house looks a 1000 times worse than it did as rooms that were bearable and now trashed and full of stuff.

We also had a burst pipe which flooded and wrecked my newly plastered walls and the kitchen fitters keep letting me down and so this has gone far longer than it should and kitchen still not finished.

So....sorry if I sound like a big wingebag and I know Ii am lucky to finally be getting my kitchen sorted, I just wanted to confirm why I have been MIA and to confirm, Yes I am still very much a messie!
    :o

Hi BB3, welcome back! Go ahead and whinge hun, sounds like you`ve a very good cause to!
Snookey - your post made me laugh too - glad the bird seems to like being licked, but keep the cage bars between them, eh?
McC - the fortnightly alternate bin emptying is a pain, mostly because us & next door sometimes forget which bin`s turn it is, sometimes have to wait and see what other neighbour have put out first!

House is messy again, weather is wet and dull, feel like having a duvet day but have to go shopping and wash some uniforms, towels, and tidy up a bit. Work tomorrow, then 2 off then another marathon stretch. Have to try to keep on top of things.
Drags self off to go shopping....

. Our council moves to a one week recycling, one week rubbish, system this week, . .

    !

we have that and it can be a nightmare in the summer with flies
& maggots collecting in the household rubbish from food scraps!

My mum has almost the same system but her council collect food waste every week too & it works very well. They take any food, as long as it's in compostable bags or in the council provided caddy & so there is no pest-problem with household waste being collected every other week.

    Evening Messies!
Have had a strangely productive day, or rather I FEEL as if I have.
Went to Aldi & Mr S, and farm shop again, got a mealplan in my head now from tonight till Monday...
    Put shopping away,
    2 loads in WM,
Looked at rota again & realised my next `marathon run` of shifts isn`t till the week after (Phew!!)
Sat down for a coffee and started listening to PG Wodehouse on R4 iPlayer... then for an excuse to stay around and hear it through, cleaned LR window & cleared & cleaned windowsill, so I`ve really enjoyed listening PLUS am very pleased with myself! Window job was very badly overdue...
Now going to make a fire and sit & watch Silent Witness on Iplayer while supper is cooking.
