well after a lazyish weekend i decided to take the bull by the horns today. I've informed my oh and 2 sons that sitting here just looking at the mess will achieve nothing. We've decided to do the kitchen first.

I spent an hour and a half ironing 3 baskets full and my ds will put his, his twins and my 5 yr old grandaughters away. He just didn't know it lol.

My oh has now chucked out the oven and hob ready for the new cooker when the rooms painted . so i scrubbed the tiles and the floor where that had been . My oh is putting together a new larder unit we bought to make more storage space so i may get clean and clear worktops at some point. I've even started wiping the cupboars over that we already have . Only the base units i have to work sitting down.

It's books with me :o:o Was an avid reader before I had children......now it's just a faint hope of having the time to read like I used to :o You can see the side of my bed as soon as you walk up the stairs. Sandwiched between the bedside cabinet (which holds all said books in place ;)) is a box of my ebay stuff. Where the heck do you all keep your stuff you want to ebay but isn't the right season eg I have a couple of kids winter coats I want to sell. No room in wardrobe, or in kids wardrobes but if I put it in the loft I'll forget about it.........that's it I just need a bigger house :rotfl:

I have that prob too Bitsy :o I have at least 3 bin bags and 2 boxes for Ebay, half is not ready to go on yet and the other half I can't seem to find the time or motivation to put on (it's taking pic's, measuring and coming up with a nice description Im haveing a prob with :()
I would love a bigger house, there are 4 of us, 10 yr boy, 16yr girl me and my OH, we split the large bedroom in half for kids, in a 2 bed cottage :o I have a huge garden though :rotfl:
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Have you tried the freeze spray as an alternative to deep heat? I can't use deep heat as the smell makes me gag, and I'd wondered about using the freeze spray instead? mind you icicles in places they shouldn't be would not be good..

I would defo second the freeze spray rather than the deep heat, i find it works so much better.

I am still sorting the kitchen at the moment, I have even thrown out an oven tray, a frying pan and a cooling rack, they were all manky and i have replaced them AGES ago but thought i'd keep them "just in case":o.

I still have the fridge, 3 large cupboards 2 smaller cupboards and 1 draw to declutter then i think that is it in the kitchen and i can move on to the living room. I plan to do the kitchen draw today and have a general tidy in the kitchen as it's starting to look like the pits as i haven't washed the dishes in 2 days .

I must catch up with the last few posts 2 :D.

    Good luck everyone :j

  • Hi all, have brought in washing and have another load to go. There are 5 black bags of stuff to go to thrift shop sitting by front door so they will be out tomorrow morning. I am owed some money and if I get it this week as promised I have made the decision to send my ironing out to an ironing company!!! I used to do this when my kids were younger and I worked longer hours and it was a Godsend. I'm not going to make a habit of it but use it as a booster to catch up and maybe get ahead. I really need to move the kitchen table away from the patio doors so I can't dump the ironing on it!!

Oh dear where has my motivation gone? Think I must have thrown it out with the last lot of clutter :(

I was in serious danger of spending the whole afternoon idling about on the internet, mainly looking at things I cant afford. Decided to have 15 minutes in each room trying to achieve as much as possible. Have done all 3 bedrooms and given up temporarily. Will have a break until DS comes in at 3.30 and start again.

The thing with this decluttering and cleaning lark is that it is making me look at things I hadnt noticed before. Possibly a good thing in the long run but in another way its quite depressing. I starting dusting the curtain rail in my sons bedroom and looked closely at the top of his curtains - and was horrified by how filthy they were. It took me about 10 minutes to take them down and put them in the washer so why havent I done it before now? Feel a bit ashamed. Have also cleaned the blind in the bathroom which was covered in dust.

Right, need to get the curtains on the line and make some tea then back to it. Bathroom, lounge, kitchen and study need their 15 minutes so it will be nearly teatime by the time thats done.

Oh and Rigs thats just reminded me, I have a manky old grill pan in the cupboard somewhere. Another thing to get rid of!!

Ok I best stop before you start blushing :D.

I have just finished the last draw in the kitchen before starting cupboards and fridge, so at a guess the kitchen will probably take about another week-ish to totally finish:T:A.

Keep going everyone, and did i say thank you to buddingblonde for starting this thread :D:D
