My home is a mess

Ellie - I change the boys sheets when they have a wet bed - obviously! Our sheets once a week or so (!) and bathtowels get put in the machine when I need to make a load up - about once a week if they're white, once a fortnight if they're the navy ones! My boys are messy beggers though being so young, so its easier to bung everything in the machine!Buddingblonde wrote: »I do our bedding every week, and the towels once a week but tbh I have loads of towels and could probably go a fortnight or two without using the same towels twice. On the question of changing the bed I do it every other day.
Thanks for replying ladies! I was always told to change mine every week (well, that's what mum told me!) but sometimes, they stay for another weekSnookey, I hate sweat too. Whenever we're sick and have a fever, I always wash the bedding in the morning. It's like getting rid of a bad night's sleep!

Hi everyone I hope you don't mind me joining in xx I'm almost 27 weeks pregnant and have had a rough pregnancy (extreme morning sickness and my waters broke at 14 weeks. They'd completely healed by 24 weeks though thank god) and my OH works nights though he has been off for the past 5 weeks because of a recurrig back injury (he broke his pelvis and fractured a vertebrae in a bike crash 4 years ago). Because of all this my house has gone to pot, made worse by our 3 dogs and 3 cats.
I'm finally back on the ball though and have been making steady progress these last couple of weeks.
I have managed to sort out the entire upstairs. Our second bedroom is currently the "junk" room but now has order to it and I manaed to throw out/recycle/charity lots of things we don't need now baby is on his way.
My OH has made a start on he nursery. He's only painted the bottom half of the wall but it's taking shape.
We've moved our room around to make room for baby's swinging crib so that's another thing sorted.
I've got through a load of washing and have even started washing baby's things.
Our 2 living rooms are looking the best they have in a while. All dogs have been washed and de flead. The cats have been de flead and the house has been sprayed.
All that's left to do really is the stairs, kitchen and bathroom then it's just keeping on top of it.
I've managed to get back into walking after 6 weeks bedrest so am loving getting out in this weather!Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

Well it sounds as though everyone is taking lots of baby steps. Today I have done more laundry (I swear it breeds in the utility room when I'm not looking). Kitchen is still looking reasonable as is hall and living room. Even the bathroom only needs a quick spruce up. Still need to tackle the paperwork but at least it's in box files so I can't lose anything.
Been reasonable weather here today so got most of laundry dry outside between planting my lilies and coraiander. Dentist tomorrow and working Wednesday so will have to see how things go when I'm not at home all day!
I do agree about starting small. If I'd gone into a room with the thought that it must all be tidy at the end I'd not even start. Deciding on one drawer/shelf/cupboard to sort works so much better (for me at least) as I can congratulate myself on a job well done, and often find myself tidying something else without thinking.0 -
Well my good intentions went out the window this morning lol, it was far too nice so i took the kids to a play area with a friend of mine and her kids for a catch up...and it was lovely im so glad i did
I did get the living room and kitchen done when i got back tho, well sides cleared i still have washing up to do lol. Ive just wiped round my bathroom and bleached my toilet too tho.
My mu is been a star tomorrow and taking my son to school for me so im spending my mroning in my pj's, if i get dressed i want to go out lol so i figure if i stay in my pj;s i will get more done?? maybe!
I have to confess washing towels and changing bedding is a job i absolutely hate! thankfully i have loads of towels, but that just means i keep putting off washing them so when i do do it (about every 2 weeks) i have about 3/4 loads of just towels, my kids are really strange and refuse to have sheets on there beds!! I go in most mornings and put the bedding back on but i can guarentee by bedtime they have taken them off and there in a pile by the bed! I honestly dont know how they can sleep without them. I do change my bedding every week tho...nothing nicer then getting into a nice fresh clean bed0 -
Managed to get rid of box of dashi that had a date of 2005 on it....meant that I had room for all the noodles for DGS2 without balancing stuff on top of something else.
When I do baby steps they really are baby steps!

Ok (steps out from the shadows), lurker of the messy and cluttered variety here. I can be named and shamed
Use this thread for inspiration and have already quoted 'baby steps' twice today to different people. I have MIL coming to stay for a week in June when we're away  and virtually a whole house to declutter and clean. Will be so ashamed if I can't at least find the stairs and floor whilst she's here!
Back into the shadows again but thank you all for your posts - they are spurring me on.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Im off to bed. All dishes are done by that nice machine the dishwasher, lol. Iv done lots of washing, fed the animals and uniforms for school ready.
Im glad that so many people are joining our group. Maybe we should invite Kim and Aggie to give us some tips. Talking about tips here is a really strange one, people with athritic problems have said that they find using dw40 works. Now dont laugh as it really is true.
Also if you put vics chest rub on your feet it makes them soft. Bit like mev ,lol,.0
