Oh dear, rosalie and jam's such a pain to wash off - it seems to go on forever, doesn't it?

I must get around to making some myself. I hate cooking meals (so OH does them all), but I do like making jam, and we have so much fruit in the freezers. Yes, I think I can feel a jam-making session coming on - just not today. :)

I think you have a good reason to be messy at the moment JP because you are/have been poorly.

As far as subjecting my children to a mess it is the other way round here-they subject me to a mess!

    lol hear hear rosalie!

abigailflo you are lucky that your efforts aren't scuppered by your children, and also that you have the motivation to keep on top of things. Well done:) It's not like that for everyone though.:)
And it's definitely not that we like mess, although I think most of us here can live with a certain amount - there's more important things in life after all - but yes we'd like to be tidier and more organised....and this thread is great for encouragement and praise when we can do things, and support when we feel so overwhelmed/unwell that we can't :)

good for you buffy, you're doing fine hun xx

glad to hear jacci and jps are feeling better :) xx

Hugs to everyone else - nothing much to report, had mum help me with the kitchen today, now it turns out washing machine can't be delivered tomorrow, and I'll have to try and keep the kitchen tidy till Friday!

I've had a lovely day - I went to my favourite health food shop and got some whole almonds (cheaper than Tesco now) and crunchy sesame sticks (only place I can find them, and I'm addicted!). Then I pottered around the charity shops and was tempted by some curtains for the material, but didn't buy them. I bought four nice glasses (the sort you put drinks in, not the sort you wear!) for £1.99.

I also looked in a new age/hippie type shop which I used to like for incense and essential oils etc. - it's now priced itself out of the market and now only really sells tat - what a shame.

Then I popped to Aldi and bought two cherry trees, one morello (sour) and one stella (sweet). Bit of an impulse buy but I've had such success with hazelnuts that I thought I'd try my hand with fruit as well!

De-messied the kitchen, the rest isn't too bad.

Hope everyone is well and happy. Hugs where needed, and chins up everyone, spring is just around the corner!

  • Hello Messies,

Had a long and difficult conversation with my Mum this afternoon. I feel a great deal clearer about things now. I have voiced my feelings and made suggestions. I don't know if she will go for it but it has made things clearer for me. you know what you REALLY can't control what other people do or how they live!

I did move furniture round and am happy with the result. I have some sorting out to do.............which you must know fellow messies means putting things in boxes until the next "declutter"

Thank you so much for the kind comments so glad to be back here
    xxxx

Oh Kitty huge hugs for you. That's the sort of thing that happens to me too.

I wish I had some OS answer to neutralising bleach but I think the only real answer is to dilute it out as quickly as possible - but this might end up spreading the bleaching effect out as well so I don't know if it's a good idea. Is it in a place where you could use a strategically placed rug to cover it up?

I am so sorry your evil wardrobe has beaten you up... it sounds like you took a heck of a whack from it. Do you think you should get it checked out? Is there anyone at home with you? If not get yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee and put your favourite DVD on - give yourself some real TLC and consider yourself well and truly hugged in the virtual plane.

Would this be close enough in colour to patch the bleach spots over? It might need to be reapplied every so often but it might make the bleach spots less noticeable...

    ((Kitty))

I would probably stand in a wardrobe...well, if it weren't full of carp. TBH it's the clumsy/accident-prone time of the month and I'm putting off painting my ceilings because I'm nervous of going up the steps...

Had a bad dream last night...saw myself as others see me (or would if they were allowed:rotfl:) Sleeping in a bed taken over by books, papers, magazines, computer, Kindle, phone, all the resultant cabling and (prescription!) drug packaging. It wasn't pretty.

Despite that I don't seem to have achieved much up here, though the kitchen is back under control. I don't know where the day has gone, really. In my defence, my back is very tender (TOM), so I can potter but not lift. However, I bet I am the only Messy to have removed a bathroom sink from their bedroom floor today :rotfl:. I decluttered it from the garage a couple of weeks ago, have listed it unsuccessfully twice on Ebay and it ended up here in a panic on DD's birthday last week. It's outside the back door now, waiting for my next visit to the recycling centre, though frankly I'm tempted to let DS take a hammer to it so we can put the taps in the recycling and the rest in the black bin...
