That's a relief Kitty!
I can remember when my TV went and I had to borrow my daughter's... then the lovely feeling :j when I won £1000 in a competition, the first thing I bought was a new TV - from Rumbelows, so that'll give you an idea of how long ago it was! I hope you get a similar run of good luck.
Hart, :bdaycake: Happy Birthday..
I hope you got a card and a gift from the lady you do for. My Disability Living Allowance pays for a cleaner for me, she was here on her birthday and I was really grateful. I got her a card, wine and chocolates. OK, it wasn't much, but I was grateful, it would have been easy for her to say 'Not this week'.
I've just discovered my son has been squirrelling more and more bits in the upstairs office, which is nominally mine. He now has stuff in the outhouse (so much that I can't use it), my dining room (can still use it, but have to weave through things), the hallway, loft, and what was my office. Plus a large bass guitar and an acoustic are 'ornaments' in the lounge.
He has a huge bedroom, but he "doesn't like it cluttered"...
Well, no &%*!, Sherlock, we hadn't noticed...... Sigh.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Afternoon messies.
And Happy Birthday again, Hart. :bdaycake:
Good news about the tv, kitty. That's stopped you having to spend some pennies (and the rest). :j
I hope you DD is better soon, Helen. Not much fun having poorly kids, whatever their age. I just worry about them from a distance now!
Mcculloch, Rumbelows is definitely a name from the past! Didn't know they were across the country, though - I think I always believed that they were a southern company. And it does sound as if you have a very messy DS, must drive you
My new toy's arrived. :j Just need to get some proper flour now.0 -
Happy birthday hart!! Hope you're having a lovely day!! xxx
Well done YL, glad you got the cancellation
hope DD better soon Helen xx
good news kitty! And mcculloch, Rumbelows made me think of one which may only make sense to the Scots here, I'm not sure - Glen's, Hutchison's,Robertson's and Stepek:D Strange the things that make you feel nostalgic
Meant to get up early today but it didn't happen, fell back asleep and woke at half 2:o So of course have done nothing as usual. Need to go and pick up some prescriptions soon. And I will need to sort things out before Tuesday as I'm getting DS's dad's washing machine that day, and my old one taken away. At least I have a deadline now which always helps even if I do still leave everything to the last minute:o
eta kitty - aah Hanson - I actually stilll like that song0 -
Afternoon Messies!
Feeling a bit ambivalent. Finished a section of a course I'm running-as an adult ed teacher-designed from scratch and delivered...by me :j. Next time-an exam.
The thing is, those who don't pass are likely to lose their jobs. So no pressure there, then.
I'm hovering between feeling totally personally responsible for their entire futures and accepting that half a dozen sessions with me are not going to compensate for the ten years or more some of them have already resisted learning what I'm teaching without *considerable* effort on their part. So we've spent the afternoon revising what we've done so far, and I've sent them home with a structured, indexed, foolproof set of notes...and all they have to do to pass the exam is reproduce the right bits of them at the right time. I should know-I'm setting it
So I'm really pleased with myself (look at me all grown up and running courses) and consumed with did-I-do-enough angst at the same time.
Guess I'll find out in a fortnightimport this0 -

MccoullochMrs W didn't know it was my BD (I started working for her just after my BD last yr) but I left her a note appologising that I didn't do all the ironing as it was my BD and I wanted to meet a friend for coffee so I think she will leave me something next wk
as she is lovely and always treats me at xmas. I can not let her down so I don't mind going over to her, it's better than staying here and looking at my own mess :rotfl:

Thanks for the good wishes - unbelievably, I felt well enough to get up, shower and drive to work - but still feel a bit wierd. What a strange bug that was - I crawled to bed, posted about feeling ill, fell asleep (before 7pm) and slept through till 5am when I normally get up anyway. I had a bout of sickness and you know what just before I went to sleep so maybe that sorted me out, I don't know.
Jacci, just have to say well done on being fag-free - once you have gone more than a couple of hours without thinking about it you've cracked it - I remember the first whole day I didn't think about cigarettes and I knew then I'd beaten it.
Hope your arm is more comfortable soon too - there's nothing worse than being kept awake by pain - all the more reason to be really proud of yourself for staying off the fags!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
