  • Jacci - good luck with quitting smoking. I have considered it myself, but I`d probably get sacked or arrested for banging heads together in the first few days... maybe when/if I retire... glad your health scare hasn`t been as drastic as you feared love!
Cat - hope your CPN appointment went well, but if folks want the LR tidy let THEM do a bit too!
Bearcub - don`t beat yourself up about typos hun - some are TREASURES - DGD & I giggled for hours after reading some recipe on here involving `pasta twits`! And thanks for your kind words - there`s really no job in the world I`d swop for mine, no colleagues or patient group/clients. I grumble about the hours when I`m overtired, but I love it really, and would be lost without SOMETHING to moan about!
Re the `pruning` - by the time I went in for the late shift it had happened! (Sister was on the Early) Nice shift today, busy busy busy but GOOD!
Posting now in case I`m timed out or whatever.
  • Cat - you should see my scanner & printer. I think I`ve posted my `flat surface` theory here before...! Glad CPN visit went well. And re the friend - you have to prioritise, sometimes your ears are not a bottomless pit.
Helen - my whole computer went funny, but now seems ok, so am hardly in position to comment! I`m also teaching eldest DGD knitting /crochet as we`re both lefties and her mum isn`t `special` like us!
YL - my OH and DS just aren`t domesticated either. It`s a bit pathetic, but when they DO do something very minor, unasked, I get quite touched.
Last time OH & I shared a couple of days off, (when? I`ve slept since then!) I made us a green Thai curry - chicken, then I chuck some king prawns in and fish them out onto his dish. I use fresh rice noodles, cut up small...hold a handful over the pan and snip them into it with scissors. Well, I was doing this when a clump of these fine wet noodles fell all over the hob....OH wa hovering, telling me about work (as we hadn`t had much time together to chat/unload) I was by this time in CBA mode, laughed, and said `Look, I`ve decorated the cooker early ready for Chinese New Year`. Was going to leave it till next morning, !!!!!!, they`d be crispy by then - I turned aside, got the dishes ready and chopping some fresh coriander to chuck in at last minute - looked over my shoulder and there was OH meticulously clearing up every last bit of noodle. I could have CRIED, I just appreciated that un-asked-for action SO much. He was SO tired, head still full of stuff to unload, and had laughed with me when I made the mess... SO sweet, I still have a little warm glow inside when I think of it.
  • Adela - we had a mouse problem several years ago. Our local newspaper had a `special offer` sonic plug-ins. They WORKED! Have since seen similar in garden centres & DIY shops. NO HARM DONE to your unwanted rodent guests, they just Want To LEAVE the Building. Even kinder than any humane trap, and less hassle for all.
Soupdragon - I lost a long post about your ferals probs last night. Awful that your local CLP isn`t taking them, but SURELY they have a spaying program? Our local lot do - a colleague who does regular fund-raining cake raffles etc is very involved with CPL. At least if they1re spayed before they leave you, it`s something. Sounds like one may be potentially `homeable`, but even if both are going to be feral (and there IS a niche for these animals!!) at least if they are spayed before that happens (rather than pts !!!!!!!!) you will have more peace of mind. You are not a `soft touch` - as long as you are realistic enough to see what needs to be done. And that doesn`t include pts, I agree - tidied away, dead. NO.
  • BUM! just lost another post. Was only saying I`m really HAPPY anticipating 3 days to share with folks I love - DGD here for weekend, OH & I both hve 3 days off. Place is only moderately messy - could be much worse. Anticipating Chinese laundry decor - mostly uniforms & smalls., but it makes the house smell nice, very Lenor, especially drying smalls on the fireguard. Now it mostly smells of Daftie-dog...she`s very cheesy, therefore so are the LR rugs. Will change the rugs tomorrow too, that`ll help a lot! Too cold to bath my old Daftie yet awhile...
I`m off for another picnic on the sofa - pork pie, pickled egg, wholemeal bread & cherry toms. And Inspector Alleyn on radio iplayer.
    Happy Emm messily signing out!
  • I walked into the kitchen earlier and
The surfaces and floor were clear on Wednesday. What did I do (or not do!) yesterday to make it all messy again!
Need to go and tidy it!

    Afternoon Messies.
I assure you, Emm, I'm not beating myself up about the typos, just found it ridiculous that I hadn't checked - as I would on any other forum. Lovely story about the noodles and your OH. I count myself very blessed to have a wonderful OH, too, who loves cooking meals - something I've always found boring, once the 'newly married' feeling wore off!

If you look in, kitty, we now have our bins. Was enjoying a cuppa in bed this morning, when I heard the unmistakeable rumbling of wheelie bins. We had them in Surrey for years, but for general rubbish, not recycling. I also saw another smaller van, full of yellow bins and bags, being unloaded by a couple of women - presumably from a voluntary group. I assume that they're for those who can't wheel their bins or carry out their rubbish bags themselves.

Have done some washing and hung it up. Was going to finish the cards to day, but they won't get done. Must do a very belated visit to one of the local homes, or they'll think I'm never going back. Plus, a meeting tonight, that I thought was cancelled, is back on again because someone urgently needs to talk to us. OH at the dentist, after a filling fell out, and I must get some lunch.

Rummer - toys hehe, I want to start making them now so that I can sell them at Xmas and some other bits for selling too, been looking on the Knitters Thread, found some wool I want but haven't got the money boohoo will have to wait and see if its still in the sale at the end of Jan [fingers crossed] I'm in the middle of making a dog, DD got a kit for Xmas to make one and I've hijacked the pattern and I'm giving it a go, want to cost time and wool and then see if I could sell it at a profit but still keep it cheap!!

PS - I'm another who has laundry mountains and ironing mountains too

thank you lovely Messies - I didn't feel in the least bit guilty about saying "no", I was just furious that when I reminded him what day it was, his response was simply "I know" then another 2 pages of text about how he was feeling before the bit about me having my own !!!! :( Yesterday was all about G, I'm glad that's the last "first" to be got through :o

Helen, DD2 just knitted a teddy with a kind of yarn I've never seen (which isn't saying much!), it's really cute, will try and get a photo of it though she hasn't done the nose yet :) She's only been knitting since Xmas so I'm quite impressed! :)

Have done nothing today but did manage to start tidying my room last night when I strategically withdrew to leave the youngsters to themselves in LR :) Didn't sleep till about half five so again I'm not long up:o Wet, miserable day here, think we're off to the hospital again tonight. Should get in the kitchen now and make a start on that, it's a definite SSSI at the moment:o

ETA Emm - I got a couple of those sonic plug ins for spiders two years ago, and have to say we've had no big ones since (touch wood), just a couple of small ones :)
