    Afternoon All

This is turning out to be day from hell when all my messyness is catching up with me in one go

First all, hubby is not impressed as he went to make breakfast and there was no clean crockery. I havent loaded the dishwasher for 2 days but didnt realise we were that low on pots. :o (In my defence I did get rid of all mismatched crockery and cutlery last year so we dont have as much to choose from anymore)

Secondly, my main job for today was to bleach and clean my bedroom window and put up new curtains.

I didnt get up till about 12.30 and was sat watching the football when hubby vanished, which didnt surprise me as the score wasn't going our way. After about 20 minutes I went up to see where he was and he was in our room and has bleached and cleaned the windows and put the curtains up for me.

Great you might think. It's SO not great.... He didnt open the windows so did all this with no ventilation and the room stinks - literally, and I call him "half a job" because in the rare moments he does anything in the house he leaves a trail of disaster which I have to sort.

To clean the window he has moved everything which was piled up nicely to be ermmm sorted later and thrown it all over the bed, He has also put the contents of the floordrobe on the bed, so I am off up to spend the rest of the day dealing with that as you can't see the bed.

Thirdly (and hopefully finally) unless anything else conspires against me) my DD has finally given in and decided to tackle her messy bedroom and the whole of the upstairs landing is now covered in dirty washing, coat hangers and other tat that I now need to sort. Grrrr

All I need now is a visitor to call and I am screwed. :o

Badgerlady - Well done on the room sort

Rummer - Sorry to hear about the rabbit

    Messymare- Loving the pet pics.
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D
  • Working on last few bits of bedroom:

    1. Have opened a suitcase which is full of all kinds of clutter  which I've sorted through.

    2. Have dared to open my handbag draw under the bed and bravely chose about 5 to list. Have listed 2 so far. Scary! There are still lots in the drawer, so I need to whittle them down a bit more!

    3. Sorted out some laundry.

    4. Have large pile of craft-related items on bed. (How did they get into bedroom???). They need a home.

    5. And a carrier bag filled with random stationery bits - pens, post-its etc. Again, why so much in my bedroom???

    6. Have a pile of things for charity shop and another for car boot.

    7. Have 2 boxes of ornaments that I have no idea what to do with. My collection of creature comforts, a million Pete Johnson cat ornaments and a few thousand Right Shoe ornaments. Since I moved I've had nowhere to put them - hence they've been sitting in a box for goodness knows how long.

    8. Have put 10 small pictures up in bedroom and ensuite that have been sitting in said box. Still got quite a few more pics that need something doing to.

Never ending, but I need to sort out my declutter list and put this on that thread.

Sat down to eat a 'declutter' frozen pizza. Yuk. Had no flavour and was revolting. So I've eaten what i can and now sitting with box of chocs...

Need to have a bit of a rest now. Wonder what's on tele.

Rummer sorry about your pet its horrible when they pass.

Iv applied to be a foster carer for a dog so fingers crossed. I did phone the rspca re a dog but he was no longer there so maybe this is the way to go.
BB I know what you mean about trails of destruction as oh does this. His idea of cleaning is far removed from mine and means I have to go over the things he is supposed to do.
Messy love the rats. A quick tip if your hamster wheel is noisey but vasaline on the bit which holds it. We did this and its now very quiet. Sorry could not remember ,oh I know the nut and bolt. Im going senile, lol or have I gone?.
We had a toad once in our cellar that must have come in from the park oppisite. Oh was screaming so I had to pick it up. My uncle took it for his garden pond.
I know I should be scared of wild rats but I find them so cute. Iv been bitten once whilst trying to get the cat to release one. The doctors said that their mouthes are quiet clean its the other end of things such as the wee thats dangerouse. Not sure about that but I was okay and took antibiotics as a precution.
Dont know what domestic chores Ill do today. A general tidy is needed and a mop of cat paw prints.
    Take care everyone.

Quite a productive day, although plate rack still not on the wall :( as the box of screws to attach it has evaporated (aka hidden in mess somewhere  ). Did finish the laundry (3 loads) which is now awaiting sorting on my bed.

I can't decide which is more tiring: working outside the home during the week or working in the house tidying up and doing jobs at the weekend .. conclusion, the housework can wait, I am too tired this weekend ;)

Hi messies, hope the weekend has been as good as it could be, hugs and best wishes to anyone not having such a great time.

I've been quite successful this weekend, downstairs is STILL not messy again yet (seeing as it's only me, it should really stay tidy but usually doesn't!)

I've batch cooked savoury rice for the freezer, portions for lunches at work this week. Also batch cooked in the SC for evening meals, I made the gammon and lentil thing again, it's really good. Threw in a handful of mung beans this time to see what it's like.

Done two loads of washing and cleaned out the cat tray - ready for the week now.

Messymare, I have had spells of unemployment and totally understand how you feel - I am very lucky to have a permanent job now, and the weekends do go so fast, but when people start moaning and griping at work, I stay out of it and just thank my lucky stars.

Snooky what a brilliant idea - that's something I might consider for the future. I can't foster dogs at the moment as my cat is now middle aged and most likely would be very upset if I brought dogs into the house.

Whipping up a batch of blueberry muffins, the only thing get whipped here is my OH for leaving the bedroom door open, he knows Treacle has a tendency to pee on the bed if she can get in.

My duvet cover is now in the wash again on a 90 wash, and the duvet is in the bin, no way on earth am I paying the dry cleaner again to do it, it cost me £17.00 last time and it still had a yellow stain on it when I got it home, I can get a cheap double duvet for that, it looks like we are in single sleeping bags until payday....that'll teach him:D

Rummer, you should be on the OS daily thread with all that cleaning and whipping.:rotfl:

Cats, your lounge floor is very clear, where's the clutter? Did you stuff it into a cupboard like I do when I have visitors, I've even been known to shove the contents of the coffee table into the tumble dryer in a blind panic when someone has knocked at the door.

Good night to all the Messies.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That is too funny!!! Love it!!! I don't think I have ever done that - but I have shoved washing up into the oven :D

I have cooked dinner, put on the laundry and the dishwasher and I am going to read for a while. Been a dreadful day here. The rabbit died and I am devastated. There has then been a seemingly never ending catalogue of disasters since then. Not the relaxing day of peace I had been planning.

So sorry about your rabbit, Rummer :( I had a house bunny once and he was lovely - I was so upset when he died. Pets hold a special place in your heart, and always will :)

I'm afraid I have been MIC (missing in clutter - love that, whoever posted it before me)... Was at work yesterday and had very lazy day today... Had to get pizza for dinner as no space/pots/utensils available in kitchen anymore  Luckily had a 50% off voucher but still expensive.

I am taking a friend to see their partner in hospital tomorrow, and its a good hour plus drive each way so that will be most of the day taken up (not that I mind) and I very much doubt I will feel like doing much when I get back, altho I will definately get the kitchen sorted.

Then I am free for the rest of the week to tidy and de-clutter... Well, apart from Wed, Thurs and Fri when I am going out walking to get fit with a friend... I guess that leaves Tuesday then :rotfl:

I have decided tho, that tidying in this house is absolutely pointless. What I need to do is get rid of stuff, not move it about. I am not going to fret about the house until I have sold 100 items on ebay. So far I have listed 3 things :o Still, its a start.

Anyone else still got their Xmas tree up? :o
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
Window quilts for landing window & french door
Add shrink film to the kitchen door & insulate
    Insulate front door
Bubble wrap windows & french door
    Wash front door curtain
    Blind for the bathroom
Find wrist warmers & the wool socks!
    Wash heated throws
    Wash duvet & wool blankets
Buy vest tops to go under clothes and PJs
Buy nets for bathroom and kitchen
Buy or make blind for kitchen

Agreed!! (I mean re my house - not yours!)

3 is indeed a start! Good point though about moving things around. I feel like I did that a bit today. That needs to go in the craft box, that goes in the desk etc etc. And I'm left with a lot of the clutter just in neat piles on floor! :rotfl:
  • Frugal you have summed up about 75% of the tidying up that happens in our house - moving stuff around so the house looks better! Am going to slowly dispose of all but essentials (1,000 books for example is a life essential to me).

Flurry of activity as usual at the end of the weekend - bread is in the oven, dw filled and switched on (we ran out of spoons twice today). Big pots washed and draining so now going to collapse in front of tv as soon as snakes have been fed and bread is out of the oven.

    Have a good evening everyone.:)
