My home is a mess

Outlaws are coming today. That will mean that little will get done again. I may just slip off in between and do some jobs.
I too think of being somewhere else when doing housework, usually pretend Im being paid for it. Its amazing how much you can get done, lol.
Dog stinks will have to shower him. He has long blonde fur and everything sticks to it.
I did a few loads of washing last night and replaced the bathroom towels. Son has been in the shower this morning and left his washing on the floor. Words in the morning as he is on a sleep over.
Feel a bit sick just ate some sweets that were on my desk and some lemon cake. Must tackle this sweetooth.0 -
I have managed to sort out my dining area (which has been taken over by my sewing
) I cleared loads of boxes out (why do I save them
) and went through my fabric ready to put some on ebay
I can clean my 2 paid job houses in 2 hours top to bottom with no problems and I love doing it but mine I just look at it and I have no idea where to start it's so cluttered so a lot of time I just keep the bathroom and kitchen clean and tend to shut my eyes to the rest but that does not helpGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Well I must be doing something as after shopping today I had room in the fridge to put everything away :T This must be the first time for weeks that I haven't had to evict old cottage cheese/out of date yoghurt/something unidentifiable at the back of the shelf.
Have put bread dough on, and planning cottage pie for dinner (btw anyone know the difference between shepherds pie and cottage pie if you are vegetarian I know meat ones have diff. animals in them but not sure with veggies).
I don't aspire to a totally tidy house, it simply isn't that important to me to be totally mess free (and I'd probably think something was wrong). I'm aiming for clean and reasonably tidy, with a garden that matches this. Baby steps are certainly helping as jobs are taking minutes rather than hours now.0 -
I have heard of people who iron towels and underwear. Can't say I have personally known any as we'd obviously have nothing in common and they'd be too busy ironing to come out and play.
I was one of those people when I first had my DS and housework was something new to me. I ironed everything, (and I do mean everything, lol!) even DS's baby socks, nappies, underwear (including lacy bras and knickers, and ruined a few by having the iron too hot, lol!) towels, sheets, quilt covers, curtains, everything! I hated washing the bedding, as it was so difficult to iron it, especially double sheets and quilt covers, but after a while the ironing became less of a novelty and more of a chore, so I learned my lesson and started to only iron things that needed it. Now I only iron trousers, tops and (on the rare occasion that I wear them) skirts and dresses, but only if they really need it and even then I have to be in the mood to do ironing, unless it's something that's needed immediately.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

soupdragon apart from the meat, cottage pie normally has carrots in but shepherd's pie doesn'tIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Well back from my afternoon with OH family - bill was just over £100 (still a lot of money) but not as bad as first thought.
Kitchen seems to be breeding dishes but I cannot be othered to do them tonight -I will do them tomorrow (or delegate).
Bathroom and livingroom not looking too bad - a hoover through is needed (the joys of pets) but otherwise things are looking ok. Loads of washings to do tomorrow so will get everything pegged out first thing.0 -
I dont iron unless I really need to. My daughters uniform goes in the drier if creased for a min or two. It comes out crease free.
Iv washed the kitchen floor, its the bane of my life. We have a white floor with green tiles in between white. When able Im going to change it to slate. Done the dishes twice, put on another couple of loads of washing and had a tidy.0 -
Just a little tip. If like me you have a glass door on your oven and its stained use a glass scraper . I bought one thats for taking paint off windows. The glass door was gleaming in five mins.0

Well I burnt the bread because I used the small oven and it stuck to the top of the oven so a) no bread b) oven to clean tomorrow
Been having an 'off ' day today, one of those where I can't get into gear at all. Nice purple flashes and feeling sick courtesy of migraine but fortunately no headache.
Will go to bed in a wee while, but will make sure that I do at least 2 more bits of ironing from the decreasing pile - btw would I be better ironing my thicker cardigans before I store them for the summer or wouldn't it matter (they are mostly wool/synthetic mixes and don't crease much). I certainly don't iron anything unless I absolutely have to, my late mother ironed everything in sight if she got chance!
I am trying to deal with the dog fur crisis at source but my dog is not the most co-operative at being brushed, but I've told her that baby steps apply to her too so fur is coming off in brushfulls and going straight to the bin rather than via the floor/stairs etc.0 -
Hi Soupdragon I hoover our dog, when I can be bothered to hoover, lol. He loves it . All of my animals apart from the bird are moulting so thats five furrys. I use a rubber glove for the rug and clothes as it gets everywhere. I try to do all the cats but they run as soon as the brush comes out.
On the question of cardigans I havent a clue to be honest maybe someone with the ironing gene will come along soon.
Iv done all the washing now. its a thankless task though as someone said it grows by itself.
We had two tom cats in today even though all our girls are spayed. Our cats didnt seem bothered.
Well Im off to bed . I think Ill read my decluttering books ,maybe they will declutter my mind, lol.
Soupdragon hope you feel better.0
