Welcome loudmouth -
I think many of us subscribe to the Quentin Crisp approach to housekeeping which says that 'after 6 months the dust doesn't get any thicker'
For myself cobwebs are actually ecological fly traps and environmentally sound so don't let anyone tell you different (OK if like me you like spiders).
First day back at work today - came home and fell asleep after evening meal. It's not just work, but the commuting that is tiring at the moment expecially driving in the dark - eyes aren't what they were 10 years ago.
CBA to do anything vaguely domestic today apart from complete the MrT order to be delivered Friday (saves me having to do a big shop after work). Won't do this regularly but had a voucher to use which gave £15 off if you spent over £75 so have used this and some points to stock up freezer and cupboards so we don't have to lug the heavy stuff indoors in the gales.
Walls are now painted to put the plate rack up at the weekend so more sorting and tidying will happen then.:T0 -
Hello Loud mouth welcome to our nest.
Bloody wind. I went out to get the bin bags and the back door hinges came off. Stupid oh said it was because I opened it?!! I thought that was what doors are for. Kitchen now smells of old cabbage as one of the bags split whilst I held the door and threw the bags in. Ill mop the floor in the morning as I can not be ar****d.
Put more clothing away, loaded more washing in the machine and now sitting having coffee. I also put the curtain up on the back door as the wind was blowing a gale through the cat flap.
Iv just gone into the front room and one of the cats has stuck herself against the radiator. I dont know how she isnt burning. The others are on our bed keeping it warm.
Im not planning to go outside tomorrow as its meant to be windy again. Ill try and do some jobs.0 -
Bloomin wind has got up here too - keeping an eye on next doors fence - be glad when they come back!!! Not that I'll be able to do much tonight - the vodka that DH bought me was softly whispering my name so I answered, seemed rude not to

Tears self away to comply with this request. I shall of course have to bring some of it back in here...sigh.
Well done you.
Talking of hallways, who else opens the door to a scene of devastation? I have two jobs where I visit houses and really envy those who open the door to a clean, bright and clear hallway. Elegantly decorated with a small side table (with fancy tablecloth) and dust-free table lamp upon it.
Where do people keep their coats/shoes/boots/recycling bins/hats/gloves?Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Errr, this is not my house. There have been times when someone has knocked on the front door and I havent been able to open it because there are so many things in the hall. We dont use the front door very often!
Have made some progress with my bedroom but I need everyone to go back to work/school now. I love my family but they are disrupting my normal routine and generally making more mess and clutter. I can manage this very well on my own.
Oh and its windy again. Bit scary seeing as we have already got tiles missing. Off to curl up in bed with my book and hopefully get some sleep. Night all x0 -
I sacrificed a doorway.
That is, when you opened the door to the dining room (now my study), you stepped through a two-foot deep corridor thingy where the kitchen had snuck some space from the dining room.
I got sick of the coats and shoes in the hall, so when I converted the DR to a study, I ran the bookcases straight along the wall and across this passage/door. So the study/diner is now entered from its other doors (into the living room) and the dining room door opens onto a space behind the back of my bookcases.
It's marvellous. It hides a multitude of sins. At least until you open the door and are swept away by the shoe avalanche...:rotfl:import this0 -
I bought a fabulous antique coat stand to help with the clutter in the hall and it is stunning. My family must think so too as they can't bring themselves to cover it in coats instead they just drop their things around it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
They also seem to have an aversion to placing things in the laundry basket, instead they like to create a patchwork style pattern round it with their dirty clothes.
Shoes are the deathtrap in our hallway and my OH has perfected the art of spreading them out right behind the door ensuring that entry to the house in a hurry during storm conditions is almost impossible. If you do make it in, you have to pull off some funky moves, leaping over them to make it to the relative safety of the living room. There is also the danger of our many cats throwing themselves under your feet to trip you up if the shoes failTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Wind howling here too :mad: hopefully will die down so I can get some sleep...
Hallway is relatively clutter free at present, just mud covered where the dogs deposit muddy prints. Must confess to a big clear out before New Year though, hall table was obscured by so much junk mail! Now have a bin with recycling bag in so it can be filed as soon as it arrives, plus bag is near door on recycling day.
DD is the worst offender with shoes - wellingtons and trainers strew the utility room as she takes them off as soon as she comes in and abandons them! Still at least they are not on show to chance visitors (not frequent as we live in the middle of nowhere).0
