My home is a mess

Anyway I battled on with the cupboards last night and you would all be so proud of me . Cleared out all the clutter and organised them into sections so I can actually get to the things I use often instead of doing the undignified bottom in the air head in cupboard maneuver . Still got quite a way to go though!
I can go one worse - my utility room cupboard is almost completely unreachable ATM, because the only place to park my shopping trolley (sad, I know, but shopping for 6-8 at the market round the corner, rather than drive 6 miles to the nearest big supermarket, I need it) is directly in front of the door. And a considerable part of yesterday's sudden attack of superannuated washing from my beloved sons is balanced precariously on top of said shopping trolley... so the Hoover is currently parked on the kitchen floor, tripping every unwary passer-by, and when I needed the hair clippers last night, which live in the back of the cupboard, my feet were actually waving in the air, much to everyone's amusement.
And I'm back to work today, so I'm not going to be able to sort it out, even if we were able to dry it all in this. We may be in danger of UN weapons inspectors detecting DS2's "WMD" football socks... :eek:Angie - GC Oct 25: £290.57/£500: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 40/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Morning messies. House covered in mud courtesy of dogs cats and OH's wellies (he let the hens out for me). See little point in washing floor atm as we are surrounded by mud! (Note to self to investigate rice paddy as alternative to veg gardening).
Work at home today, so easing back into the routine gently..... does this mean I don't have to do housework????:T
Kitchen is a bomb site, although I am caught up with the laundry so can feel satisfied about that at least. Will continue to sort out the huge amount of fabric that I have collected over the years and try to rationalise this into colours/mending/alterations etc.... Purchase of yet more useful storage boxes coming on I feel.
Have a good day and take care in the high winds.0 -
Oh what a start to 2012. Came downstairs early this morning because the wind woke me up. Sat looking at the computer and it started really howling outside - I have never heard anything like it. Looked out and the wheelie bin and garden furniture were blowing round like bits of paper!
Then went upstairs and looked out of the landing window. Saw that the shed roof has blown off, taking the fence with it. Got OH up and went outside and loads of tiles off the roof. We were supposed to be taking DS2 out for his birthday today but no way am I driving far, have said we will go to the pictures instead but he is a bit upset.
So waiting for the loss insurer to ring. Never claimed on the house insurance before so hope we just have to pay the £150 excess, it will be hard enough finding that. Need to re-home some of the stuff out of the shed too, goodness knows where we are going to put it.
Couldnt care less about the mess in the house at the moment!0 -
Morning all
More washing to be done - not attempting the downstairs clean up operation till tomorrow when kiddies are back at school
Had to let next doors dogs out for a pee - let them out, looked round garden and oh no fence panel blown down in the horrendous wind we had over night [wind outside not DH . . . this time lol] luckily DH starts work later today so out we go and resue panel and temporarily fix it back - lots of no wind vibes here! Then noticed an arch had blown down so I moved that to a sheltered place, dogs were going nuts cos I shut them in a room, when is was all fixed I let the dogs out of the room but 1 of them was playing with something. On investigation it was a plastic kiddies toy chewed in bits, hopefully nothing was swallowed, dog was acting very guilty hehe.
Off to do some more washing - 2 more loads and thats all the bedding and towels caught up with

PS - YL, just seen your post - lots of no wind vibes and hope you manage to get it all sorted stress free xProjects made for craft fair - 40

(((hugs YL))) I hope it all works out ok xxx
Luckily the wind died down here before it took the fence that looked ridiculously rickety but must have been more solid than we thought.
CAB were as useful as a chocolate fireguard but were at least sympathetic so made me feel a little better. My dad's union have said I can call their legal helpline so hopefully I'll be able to get some answers.
Right now I'm watching Boston Legal, just done the washing up and had to scrub the carpet this morning- thanks dog! Feeling lots better at the moment, no idea why but don't want to question it too much!
((hugs))

Yorkshirelass hope you get that sorted out ok and no more damage - I take it you're in Yorkshire somewhere? We have high winds (north west, I work in Manchester and live about 25 miles south of it) but so far so good, no damage overnight. Have to wait till later to see if my rickety bit of fencing that I bodged together with trellis and reed screening has survived without tearing off again. Luckily it's easy enough to repair and it does stand up remarkably well to winds usually.
Hope everyone else stays safe in the winds too - work comes as quite a shock after a nice 2 week break - sigh!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Huge hugs Yorkshirelass - wind is awful here too - fortunately haven't much in the way of stuff to blow away any more as it's long since gone!
Hope the insurance send someone quickly so that you can get it sorted out. That's what we pay premiums for after all. Take care of yourself.0 -
I'm cooking up red cabbage for the dog!! He is in love with me cos he knows its for him hehe

My greyhound does big old lovey eyes when either the toaster pops or the bread bag rustles. And he knows the difference between that and any other plastic bag!

Glad its not just my dogs that adore toast! I'm always guaranteed to have two pairs of eyes watching me whenever I have any for breakfast!XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0
