  • MessyMare sorry about your sudden news, glad to see that you have fantastic support there (and here) and I am pleased that you are moving forward and looking at the new opportunities life can bring.
Thanks to all you messies you have spurred me into clearing all my washing up and I now have a sparkling kitchen ready for tomorrow. I am sure it will make me smile in the morning so TY :T So then I have just poured myself a cold cointreau and lemonade to start the festivities. Sadly OH is doing his night shift tonight so when the girls are asleep I shall be watching Jools Holland on my own again this year.

Wishing you all a fantastic 2012
    DC xx
  • Oh MessyMare, I just read your post & my eyes are leaking!! Good on you, and your lovely OH. I`m sure you`ll soon start seeing your job loss as a Blessing. Big ((HUGS)) to both of you! XXX

Laurel, I tried sending DS to the door with the window cleaners money too! DS only went and asked the WC in, and that was even worse! Our current local window cleaner who seems to have the monopoly in the village has been around for years, is very chatty, knows everyone`s business, and his wife is even worse! I used to pay one of DD`s nice ex`s to do it every now & then, but since she`s been with current partner I don`t like to. Current chap has a bit of history with that ex, apparently, & current is quite handy except for up a ladder... I`m not grumbling, mind, he`s built me a lovely log-shelter, and some smart decking.

Since my last post I have -
Hoovered & mopped LR floor, put clean rugs down, relented about the dirty rugs in the caravan and brought them in. One is washed & hanging in DS`s doorway, the other is in WM now.
I`ve made a fire, and a beef curry that`s festering on low heat in the oven for later.
Then I needed a cuppa & a sit down. Need another cuppa now...
Pats self on head, despite not having done some other stuff I`d have liked to...

I`m clockwatching too, will have to go pick OH up from work, but going via DD`s to drop off a piece of coal (for 1st footing. Her OH`s mum is having the kids for them to go out - I`ll leave the coal on the doorstep for them to take in when they get home.) Then just me & OH having a few drinks at home, a nice curry, and probably watching some Poirot on I-player. Probably interrupted by phone calls, as DS & DD will ring. Our present phone is faulty, bounces us offline sometimes.Have bought a new one (a pair, actually) but parcel arrived after DS had gone so I`m not messing with it till he`s back!

I might not be on here again till NEXT YEAR, so I`m going to say it now.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all you dear Messy people. You are all wonderful xxx

Well my domestic goddess status has now departed! I lasted until approx 3pm before bursting into tears and telling my OH it was all awful and that I would never get everything done in time. That mixed in with a healthy dose of self pity relating to my appearance.

He then turned into my knight in shining armour. I was ordered to get my coat on, taken into town to buy a whole pile of yarn, a new set of skincare products and then taken to the pub where he bought us a giant jug of delicious cocktails :D I am now deliciously tipsy and just about to get ready to go to a friends to see in the new year.

Never did I think ladies when I started to post on this thread that I would meet so many fabulous people. I look forward to coming on here and sharing the details of the highs and very messy lows of our lives. May you all have good health, wealth and happiness in the coming year

  • Bless you Rummer :) OH has just marched me to tesco for some treats and a new DVD. I think he's trying not too subtly to keep me occupied :)

    Have a lovely evening!

Well messies, hospital visiting has kept me busy and meant less time to post, but I have been reading and keeping up as much as I can.

I will be seeing the new year in by myself as usual - I do have other offers but prefer to be at home and, rather embarrassingly, I like my own company enough to enjoy it! Is anyone still around in messy land or are you all off cavorting? :D

MessyMare I am so glad your OH is lovely and supportive - I'm sure after the shock is over you'll feel great. That's one thing I do miss, being a confirmed singleton - someone to hold me and tell me it's going to be ok when things fall apart.

Awesome work Emm, Rummer, Kitty, Laurel, Helen and everyone getting things done (apologies if I missed anyone, I've only skim read the thread today) - I have my own little victory to report - I have managed to keep the living room tidy for a week!! :T

Edit: Yorkshirelass, don't beat yourself up or even let yourself feel down about it - when you are ready you will do it. Clear a patch, get yourself a cuppa (or a tipple), some treats and a good movie or fave TV programme. It's the only way to stay sane!

I am around jpsc :) The DDs are playing with a decorative nativity scene I bought, re-enacting the Nativity and asking about various made up characters in their school play and wondering why they weren't included in our figures

Def no partying for me - I am not even having a single alcoholic drink tonight :D I am glad to see the back of 2011 tbh. Too many sad memories and a near breakdown have made me even more determined than ever to get the house (and my head) sorted.

I had a house lbm yesterday and stayed up clearing clutter for hours... (then slept in until 10.50 - plumber knocked but couldn't raise me :o so I am still without heating! Good thing its warm).

Got a lovely text from my ex earlier. He is the only person I know I can always rely on despite having several relationships (and 2 children!) since we split. He is a great friend to me now and has been my rock the last few months :A

I would love to meet a lovely man but am resigned to being happily single for now and concentrating on paying off some recent debts, sorting the house and learning how to have fun again :)

Now that sounds like a plan, especially the learning to have fun again bit!

Glad you're here Frugal, it's really so reassuring to have online friends to chat to. I honestly don't know what I'd have done this past couple of years without it, and the messy thread just seems like a natural home for me now!

I often go to bed before midnight on NYE, but feel wide awake this year. I might even have a play with the sewing machine!
