My home is a mess

I`m back - FINALLY just dropped DS off at the station (2 miles away.) He nearly missed his train, but he caught it - not bad, considering he was originally aiming to set off this morning! I`ve just suggested to OH an evening at the pub to celebrate! Celebration of my packing DS off to his GF agreed!!!
Whilst waiting for DS to get himself ready I showered (using my Dove silky stuff, a lovely set I had as a pressie) then still waiting for DS got bored, undressed again & daubed myself with the cream - supposed to have a silky shimmer. Hope it`s not TOO shimmery...probably come off on my clothes now anyway. Feels nice though, & I now feel quite celebratory at long last!
OH is booking taxi. (Emm purring quietly in new teddy-fleece jumper...)
Messy status - superficial bomb-site due to DS last minute hunt for stuff. Never mind..0 -
I confess that my big soup pot has been steeping in soapy water for a week!
Surely I've done my penance now?!!
eta I have changed the water a couple of times, just haven't got round to actually washing it yet!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
My kids are trying to watch a film, and I don't want to disturb them or they will bug me! So I am stifling (sp?) my laughter.... result = tears rolling down my cheeks!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Its no good... I cracked... The kids are still quiet tho! Phewwwwwwww!
I have been known to throw out stuff when I am scared to take the lid off - and actually, thinking about it... I am sure I made bread recently but didn't take it out of the BM.... nobody eats my HM bread anyway, think the BM might be going to the tip this week... I daren't open the lid...
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

GQ - to do links... highlight the web address at top of screen, right click and copy, then paste into your post. Thats the simple way.
If you want to change it.... say www blah blah com then highlight it (once its pasted in post) and write HERE over the top... It will magically appear!!! Took me several years to figure it out!!!
I can even do multiquotes now! Click the speech bubbles next to "thanks" and "quote" each time you see a post you wish to reply to, then when you go "Post Reply" (not quick reply) Then, as if by magic they all appear :T
Hope that helps

Hello ladies, lovely to see I have been missed, I had actually sneaked away to a luxury hotel (Groupon) the day after boxing day and I have just arrived back today! It was lovely being able to do nothing but relax and the most energy I expended was walking from the bubble pool to the sauna, bliss. The weather was hideous so I just had to stay in the bar admiring the view while crocheting till my little heart was content while sipping cream smothered hot chocolate
. My OH was a bit of a grump but hey you can't have everything!
The house is still in reasonable condition although you can hardly move in the hall for the giant pile of stuff that is waiting to go to the dump
. I am going to unpack in a minute and just move all the clothes from the case into the washing machine
Later today I think I may relax and try to sew the bag I have had the material for sine June
I have read over the posts and send hugs to those that need them and big welcome hugs to the new faces
Frugal - just testing - I'd forgotten how to do the links so I shall bookmark your post about it and thanks for the info on how to do linkies - I'd no idea how to do them
Rummer - that sounds like a blissfull get away - not that I'm green with envy or owt like that!!!! Glad you enjoyed it

Mugs that have spent too long in DS`s room are seldom reclaimed...I just apologise and say I dropped a mug (truly I did, straight in the bin!)
I did do the Venison the other night as planned. Marinated in port & some red wine vinegar, fresh thyme & bay leaves, long slow cooked in casserole in oven...gravy was thick, very dark, and in MY opinion gorgeous.
DS complimented me on the creamy mash but just didn`t like the casserole. OH ate all his but said `It`s okaaay but..` wasn`t keen really - he`s gently honest! I was disappointed at first, I`d anticipated they`d want seconds. Now happy to think of leftovers in freezer - all for me when OH is working nights!
Off now, catch you later.0 -

Confession?
Ironing? What ironing? Four clothes horses and a bannister and none of it ironed.
And I took a wash out of the machine this am that had been there since Boxing Day. I gave it an extra rinse yesterday, but it didn't really help, and now the whole house smells of slightly musty washing.
And though the Christmas decorations are down, packed and lofted (children mostly) I gave up hoovering the living room halfway through.
And I've been washing windowsills, but can't face doing the windows.
And the worst place in the house for kipple is now the utility room, but it's cold and wet and dark and there's no way I'm taking stuff out to the garage now.
And my living room carpet is so foul I wish it were covered in kipple. Am considering nipping out to hire a rug doctor tomorrow, but I think a lot of the marks are going to have to be scrubbed off by hand...and I don't know where the time or energy are going to come from.
(ETA: the worst of the marks have clean spots around them, which means I tried to shift them by hand and failed, after I hired a carpet cleaner for last year's Chinese students!)
Oh yes, and I've also had a Slimming World Leaflet through the door....somebody must be trying to tell me something as well
Enough, lol?import this0 -
Hi Messies
I have been MIA again, but my New Year's resolution, and the only one at that, is to check in at least twice a week.
I am on leave from work this week as is DF so we have been decluttering today - I took one roll of carpet, a hoover, some broken pots and 22 bags to the tip earlier. Since I got back there are now another 8 bags to take, mostly old paint that is long past its best.
We are going to spend one day per weekend decluttering the loft - we reckon it will take about 8 weeks, but we will get there.
Dinner was roast beef, HM yorkies, roast and mash potato, sprouts carrots and it was delish, probably best I have done in a long time. Meat was still pink so very tender and did the yorkies in goose fat. DF said no more Aunt Bessies for us, not even in an emergency.
Washing is all up to date, just some ironing to do.
I have also done a 5 week meal plan based on the freezer and cupboard contents
And a 5 week household plan which gives jobs to DF and DSS instead of them relying on me to do everything.
DSS is hoping to go to Uni in September so needs to learn to cook, clean and wash - I will not be there to do it for him and he does not like pierce, pierce, ding :rotfl:
Now off to watch last two episodes of Great Expectations but will iron at the same time whilst having a Pimms and Lemonade:beer:
All the best everyone
Gilly x0
