Got my chinese last night and laughed to read the message in my fortune cookie - "you will achieve peace and harmony in your home":D Someone must be moving out then!

Can't even begin to tell you about my carpets, minging doesn't begin to describe them! I'm not allowed wood flooring though, being in the top flat:(

DD1 out so I'm watching the darts on tv:j Ah now DS wants on the computer so I'll have to go. Well done on all the demessying busy bees! See you later xxx

Messy mare Id have carpet right through if I had no pets or children. The amount of dirt and fur that comes off my floors ,not to mention animal accidents would leave it minging. I only have it on the stairs and landing because it would cost a small fourtune to have it all wood.
Today Iv mopped our room. Should have seen the muck and cat hairs under our bed. We would be closed down for sanatation risk, lol. Had to move the boxes that hold books and mags to get to the floor.
Bed changed in our room, winsow sills washed down, tea dishes done,, more washing done, clothes put away , bird cage cleaned, livingroom floor brushed.
We have put the christmas tree up. DS did the lights whilst dd and I decorated it. Iv wrapped more presents and put them under the tree. DD thinks we wrap half and father christmas wraps the other half. Hers and ds are in our bedroom until christmas eve.
Iv told oh that Im writing a list of jobs to be done as he has been a lazy sop . Said he was tierd due to me kicking him in my sleep. If he is not carefull Ill be doing the kicking whilst awake, lol.
One of my christmas angels smelled of cat wee. It must have been like that when I packed it away. Oh came in saying who put the angel in the bin, angel in hand. Told him to smell it , then told him it was cat wee, hee, heee.
    Keep well everyone.

Oh dear... I've done nothing  Kids back in 3 hours

Anyone want to supply ideas to get me motivated to get my arris up off my comfy armchair in front of the roaring fire, and actually do something?

    I'm so cosy I don't want to move :o

A 'quick fix' list would be helpful :) ie, minimum effort for maximum effect on both kitchen and living room?
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
Window quilts for landing window & french door
Add shrink film to the kitchen door & insulate
    Insulate front door
Bubble wrap windows & french door
    Wash front door curtain
    Blind for the bathroom
Find wrist warmers & the wool socks!
    Wash heated throws
    Wash duvet & wool blankets
Buy vest tops to go under clothes and PJs
Buy nets for bathroom and kitchen
Buy or make blind for kitchen

Frugal - you're gonna regret it on Xmas Eve when you're tired and there's still the wrapping to do and the kiddies won't go to sleep till late cos they're excited and you're knackered - get up off that chair and do something lol

I've wrapped some pressies, not many but I have made a start - no idea when I'll be able to do the kids - left it really late this year!!

  • Helen - I've been poo picking too. Got to fess up - only ever do it twice a week but luckily he wont go on the garden path! Bloody good exercise though.

Today, living room has been tidied and dusted, washing up done, OH has been splitting wood out the back and we rearranged the never-drying washing together. Really want to do some decluttering, but it's one of those overwhelming jobs that you just don't know where to start!

Got up at 1.30pm although I was awake hours before. Had the cats in the bed so dont like to disturb the little furries. Thats my excuse anyway.

Wrote the list for chores to be done so the rest of the family can help. Iv got a few more presents to wrap and thats it. I intend to spend christmas eve doing nothing but filling my fat face.

Grey queen your post sent my cog wheels whirring with talk of Kibble and electric sheep. My oh comes out with odd sayings and facts too I think you would get on.
Frugal hope you got some get up and go or as Helen said you will be regreting it come christmas eve. Then again comfort should always come first.
Mummy dearest will be here Monday along with my five year old niece so no rest for me. My mum makes more mess than anyone I know.
Well bye for now Ill speak to you fellow messy people later.

Ah GQ, thank you for an hilarious and educational post! Kipple - I posted a couple of weeks ago about something which multiplied, and wondered why pens and teaspoons did the opposite, but I'm damned if I can remember what it was! It may well have been clothes hangers so not exactly detritus but a similar phenomenon!

Just couldn't get up today, so drowsy at the moment and have that "paralysed" feeling. Made myself get a big pot of lentil soup on before coming on here so at least that's tea sorted, and a friend kindly went to the shops for me in return for me lending him a tenner so I don't have to go out on the ice.

Boiler people left a message saying they'd be out to replace "the faulty part" tomorrow, I have no idea what they mean because it's working now, but at least it'll make me clean up the kitchen! Frugal I need a kick up the butt today as well, present wrapping would be a start but oh god I CBA!

I'm so envious of those of you with roaring fires!

Well done all the busy people! xxx

eta funny things found in strange places - DD1 opened the Xmas tree box a couple of weeks ago - "yeuch there's a cracker in there!" - "well it's not going to hurt you, they don't go off or anything" says I, picturing a Xmas cracker. Turns out if was a cream cracker :/
  • Oh Cat, don't be jealous of the open fire, it makes you fight a losing battle with ash...it's everywhere. Gah. Everywhere.

Don't ask me what's happening but I'm halfway to the triumph of having sorted out the spare room! Had to come down to have a bit of something to eat and drink as I was half starved, but going to get back up there in a mo. Don't know what's happened but I just got a burst of energy (admittedly had lots of snuggles, laughs and kisses with OH which always gives me energy) and want to get it sorted. OH wants to have the office/stock room and wants to turn my room into a spare bedroom, which is understandable and will work well, as I'll be on hardwood instead of carpet. The spare room in my total achilles heel, it's the place everything just gets flung into.

Have a lovely relaxing evening everyone x
