Rummer - well done especially when you are feeling poorly, hope you are a bit better today
I'm flittin in and out of the party tonight, DH is here, so is DS but DD is at her Dads tonight. I'll be able to sleep in her bed, DH is having a bad time of snoring loudly at the mo and I can't sleep through it so keep ending up on the sofa :[ but for tonight and tomorrow night I can sleep in a bed - yeah. I don't moan at him about it cos he can't help it and normally I can make him change his position in bed so he stops but nothing is working at the moment.
I have tons of wrapping to do so tomorrow when DH and DS are at Footie I [STRIKE]might[/STRIKE] will have to make a start - hateful job!!
I also need to catch up on the washing and do some ironing each day and I need to paint the hall wall before Xmas - its dis-gust-ing and needs sorting out - Xmas is the perfect excuse to do it
Candygirl - Grrr to OH and hugs to you

Ohh Helen lemon cake is irresistable! I've been experimenting with value sponge mix and value lemon curd - it was very nice. While we're on the subject of lemons, does anyone know if you can get lemon zest cheap or is grating fresh unwaxed lemons really the only way to get it?I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

JPS - I cheat - when the recipe calls for lemon zest I bung in 2tsp of lemon flavouring extract thingy stuff - you know, the stuff in the little bottle, the same as food colouring bottles, doesn't taste any differnet to me
I'm drinking "wicked" - I hardly EVER drink - I can't handle it since having the kiddies [used to be able to drink most of my work mates under the table] now I only have to sniff alcafrol and I'm drunk so guess what a whole galss of the stuff is doing to me!!

Woohoo Helen! Same here - thimbleful of anything remotely potent and I'm gone!
I love the texture of lemon zest in cakes... agree the taste is easily achieved but you know those little bits, almost like pieces of coconut in texture... ? That's what I'm after.
Edit, found some in an online health food shop - I was looking for lemon zest but they call it dried lemon peel!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Ooooh never thought of Lemon Peel - Durrrr!!!
Off to search it out - much better than the bottle stuff and no grating [which I hate doing]

This is the one I was looking at... might have to grind it a little finer to use in cakes but certainly seems cheaper than buying unwaxed lemons!

candygirl I'm really sorry to hear all that!:(:( Hope you get better soon, and as for OH - huh - men! Sorry it's getting you down, hope he'll snap out of it soon:(
DDs - surprising how many of them ARE quite awful! The best word for DD1s attitude towards me is contemptuous. I should have done something about it years ago:o
I'm numbing myself now with hm blackberry n vod liquer and home made baileys, as on Mrs Moneypenny the other night:beer::beer:
CAT I call DD, SOTD(spawn of the devil) a she has been awful to me over the years. She has settled down a bit now, due to needing me to help her with her two babies:D:D;)"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
