My home is a mess

Morning All,
I have a day off work today, and a huge to-do list. Number one is the tax but I can't bear to work in all the untidiness so I am embarking on an attack of the house. First things first, and I shall be getting the kitchen back in line, followed by a declutter in the livingroom, which may or may not take all day. Wish me luck! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Ellie....the only way you will find out is by biting the bullet and going for it
im sure you will be more then fine tho!! I am studying towards my degree in social policy and criminology. I want to work with drug users and offenders.
Ive heard a few people talk about using vinegar for cleaning, i think its the smell thats putting me off lol, i may just have to give it a go tho!
Many thanks GreyQueen.....i was only saying to my mum last night i wanted a god book to read...i might have to look up that one for some night time reading
My kids dad is absolutely obsessed with bleach and it is passing onto my kids, they keep asking me to bleach everything!0 -

I think I will have to try, or I will regret it! IAnd I have 2 friends who are maths teachers, so really, I have all the help I may need at hand :rotfl: Your degree sounds really interesting! How do you manage? I know they say that OU degrees are designed to work around a full-time job, but it seems like a lot to me! I'm asking because one of my life dreams is to get a degree in physics, but I'm worried I will never finish it if I have so many things to juggle!!!
I don't like the smell of vinegar either, that is why I use essential oilsAnd as for bleach, I only use it when someone has been sick somewhere. Because if there is something I hate more than the smell of vinegar, that is the smell of bleach

I am starting an OU History degree in October too, we can all be messy mares and trying to study at the same time :rotfl:It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

How exciting Jackie! Do you work f/t as well?
As for me, I'm in the middle of my PhD, f/t. I'm however looking for a p/t job for next year. I'm so glad I found fellow student messies0 -
GreyQueen, don't just read Miss Minimalist's blog. You should write one! You always make me giggle! The way you write is so entertaining!! :rotfl:0

I only work p/t Ellie, but I have a family and a dog as my other full time job and work as a voluntary counsellor for a women's health organisation. Lord only knows where I plan on fitting it in, which is why I need to get the house sorted! Its a second degree for me, I was at University when I was young, and so I need to make every minute of it count as I will be paying for it this time around :rotfl:It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I do agree that getting rid is a good way to cut down on housework. We only have carpet on the landing, the rest of the house is solid floors (downstairs) and wooden floorboards (upstairs) - just read that and it sounds a bit like a workhouse but isn't quite
Ironing mountain is now a much smaller hillock, but why can I only do the ironing at 1a.m.? Suppose there isn't much else to do at that time of night (apart from sleep). Anyway woke up feeling quite energetic and cleared out my inbox (now down to just over 100 from 750+).
Best of luck with your studes everyone - I'm currently looking into a course to start in September as well so need to get the mess under control.0 -
I tend to do all my studying at the weekend at the min as my kids go to their dads on a friday and come back on a sunday, so i just hit the books.....hence why my house is a tip lol. Altho i rang up about starting a voulenteering program with a company called addaction, who work with substance misuse, and they rang me back yesterday about starting with them....so god knows when im going to fit it all in with the kids and house too lol0

Well done everyone, you all seem to be doing great :T.
I have just about started to get my motivation back after the busy long w/e i had. I managed to clean and declutter the computer desk last night and also did a little tidying in the kitchen.
I have joined Cozi and have done a "to do" list for everyday so as the list isn't miles long i am hoping i can keep up with the different days lists and i will add to them the things i have forgotten to list. I also made a seperate "to do" which is the decluttering list and will cross it off as i go along and finish it............BUT that might just take some months:eek:.
Re the spiders some of you are talking about (i said that quietly as i am PETRIFIED of them) I have been lucky the last few years as i have 1 indoor duck and 8 chickens outside who devour them  so appart from cellar spiders i fairly much don't get them anymore :T, That said, i was watching the stupid cat the other evening playing with a rather large spider then attempted to bring the !!!!!! in hanging from her mouth , needless to say i very quickly shut the back door:o:o.
Keep up the good work:A
