  • I bought these recently - they are fab - completely water and dust proof. http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-0925.aspx
I have tesco codes to use and went through quidco so came in a lot cheaper.
I am thinking about getting more for storing in loft!

It's the washing I can't keep up with. I can wash a lot in one day, but if I don't get them all dry they just get sour and I have to rinse them again. I'm averaging 4 loads a day as it is - and I have an 11kg washing machine. My son has excema so everything of his needs washing separately with Surcare, and given extra rinses. I have 2 occasional bedwetters, and someone who has had bowel problems for years, so I wash their stuff separately if they're soiled too. My bath is full of laundry that needs washed (we only use the shower). I can't get it emptied. I try to keep on top of the really dirty smelly stuff - it's the other everyday stuff I can't seem to catch up on. It's a good job I have a downstairs toilet for visitors. :o

I actually enjoy ironing though - but just can't catch up with that either.

Poor Jackie, I don't know what to suggest :( Do you have an old fashioned laundrette where you live/work? I'm asking this because as a student, I used to bring my bed linen and towels to the lady working there in the morning and for €5 she would wash and dry them for me. Could it be a possibility for you? If you don't have the bulky items, you can focus on the smaller everyday stuff.

I really don't know how mums can cope with housework. My mum has always had a messy home, but how I can sympathise now, and I don't even have children!

Wow, thanks for the link! Much cheaper than Lakeland! Can I ask you a question? Does the lid close strongly? Ie, if you fill it with clothes, can you press down with the lid a little to close the box and will it hold? I'm asking because the argos ones I have are far too flimsy and will open if clothes are pressing slightly against the lid.

No, we don't have a launderette like that - only one that does dry-cleaning.

Our house was spotless when I lived at home (why do we say that? I'm in my home right now. What's this house I share with my husband and children called? :rotfl: ) I think I rebelled. :p My mum wouldn't let us do anything. She could always do it better and faster on her own. I wasn't complaining!

I've hung out 3 loads today, and have another in the machine that will be finished at half past 3. I'll try and do another 2 or 3 loads today so there are some to hang out tomorrow, weather permitting. If things aren't that dirty I only put them in for a quick wash. The load that's in, is on for almost 2 hours as it needs the extra rinses and a steam for the allergies.

It's not really the washing that's the problem. It's getting them sorted once they come out. It's like the never emptying porridge pot!
  • Ellie - the lid clips at the handles - mine are full but not pushing up at the lid but there is a satisfying click when closed and the lid is a good fit all the way round. They also stack nicely.
Tesco do a smaller one too - mine are a little too tall for under the bed but this is only the edge frame - once under they are a good fit. I just lifted the frame a little to allow the box under.

Thanks so much BuddingBlonde, you've probably saved me a lot of £££ and time :D If there are clips, that is perfect. I will buy a set this weekend and go back for more if necessary. Thanks :j

Our garage is really dry and weatherproof, and some people suggested we put our winter clothes on racks in there. But I don't feel very comfortable with it, I would rather they go under the bed :)

My dh hired a van a couple of weeks ago and we cleared out our garage. There were so many beasties in there. I'm so glad that my menfolk don't scare easy! The only books I kept were ones that were in plastic boxes with lids - they were untouched. If you got those vacuum bags your clothes would be sealed from any creepy crawlies.
  • It isnt a seperate clip Ellie - it is as you push the lid down something in the handles clips down onto the base - god I hope I am not recommending something that you wont like!!!

I used one the other week when I was emptying my freezer - put all the stuff in and clipped the lid on and it kept everything frozen

Yes I'm the same, I never go in the garage on my own :o So it's one of the main reasons I would like stuff to be in the bedroom, I'm not scared (anymore! :D ) of what's under my bed :rotfl: I suppose I could put the coats in vacuum bags.... But what if a hairy Mr Spider decide to nest near it????? I don't mind small ones, but medium and big ones just make me wanna shriek like a little girl who saw the big bad wolf :o

I see what you mean! Well, I'll still get a set because they are really cheap AND big, so if they are not suitable for clothes, I can stack them in the garage (away from hairy spiders, preferably :p ) Plus they will great while we go camping to put everything away during the day :D So I will be happy anyway :D
  • They are sturdy - and I think I will be buying some more in the near future. One has a king size duvet in it, one has 20 pairs of shoes in it and the other one has spare bedding sets and pillows.

There are lots of colours too although I got plain white.
