Thanks for the kind words everyone. I feel a bit more positive now. Have just put out 5 bin bags of clothes for the British Heart Foundation to collect, what a great feeling!

Have set myself a bit of a target. Have got 4 weeks from next week until the kids are on hols again and I want to really concentrate my efforts on decluttering in that time. Going to make a list of things to do. A lot of it is small jobs, like sorting out the box in the hall cupboard that is full of winter hats and gloves that no-one wears.

When I have got decluttered I might think about decorating the kitchen, need to work out some costs.

Right got to go, need to get my son to school for a couple of hours then take him to hospital for an appointment!!

:rotfl:- thanks you have brightened my morning. Time for work now, back later.
:) You're very welcome. If you want another chuckle, I've just unloaded the washer and a large sponge scourer fell out when I dragged the proper stuff out. Didn't put it thru on purpose but can only think that it must have caught up with the towel I grabbed off the counter. It's come up lovely, too. Never knew they were washable!

I have unexpectedly got this week off:j

And I am doing nothing. Have been told to do what I want to do.

So the house is still a tip but we did put out some recycling. And another bag of rubbish.

So that is me done for the rest of the week.

So keep up the good work.

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee see you all next week.

    Yours

    Calley

This thread has given me the kick up the backside for now....just hope i can keep at it lol x
  • Well it's been a good morning - cleaned hallway and it's now mopped and drying.

OH had switched on our Wii (just bought a 2nd controller) and challenged me to tennis on the sport game and this woke me up! (also had taken pain meds this morning which helped too).

Now going to make flatbreads for lunch and this afternoon who knows! Hope everyone is having a good day so far.

Oh how I do love reading this thread :) I had a very cr*ppy day yesterday and job-hunting is frustrating me no end. So I came on here and you manage to make me smile :)

OK, so today, I don't have a list of chores, rather, I'll aim to have 10 things going out the house for good: bin bags, old clothes, etc, it doesn't matter, as long as they are OUT. :j
  • Sounds like a plan Ellie - I have done some throws and cushions for the wash and I have wiped down the bathroom and done the dishes. Not a lot but I feel better for it.

And so you should feel good about it :) If I had to have a full cleaning day everyday, I would soon lose my motivation. :)

3 items of clothing gone already, in the rag bin. This is how bad my hoarding is: I have been keeping clothes that can't even be used anymore  But why do I do that?

Saturday, I'm going to ask my DH if he could drive me to Lakeland, as I would like some underbed storage. I bought some in Argos but the quality isn't really good for clothes as there is a gap between the box and the lid. It will be great for other things though. But for the winter clothes, I would rather have something a bit more "dust proof".

We will also measure up the garage and get some storage shelves. DH is very excited about it :rotfl: And I, too, because it means I can neatly put things away (Christmas decorations, etc). We don't need much to be happy, eh? :rotfl:

It's the washing I can't keep up with. I can wash a lot in one day, but if I don't get them all dry they just get sour and I have to rinse them again. I'm averaging 4 loads a day as it is - and I have an 11kg washing machine. My son has excema so everything of his needs washing separately with Surcare, and given extra rinses. I have 2 occasional bedwetters, and someone who has had bowel problems for years, so I wash their stuff separately if they're soiled too. My bath is full of laundry that needs washed (we only use the shower). I can't get it emptied. I try to keep on top of the really dirty smelly stuff - it's the other everyday stuff I can't seem to catch up on. It's a good job I have a downstairs toilet for visitors. :o

I actually enjoy ironing though - but just can't catch up with that either.
