Yea im anemic too so that doesnt help with the tiredness, my body just wont absorb iron so im on 3 tablets a day and i have to go in reg for iron transplants too, its a pain in the rear to be honest.....the arthritis has been playing up loads this last few weeks with the constant changes in weather. Altho i have to admit the good days are real good but the bad days are a nightmare, my 8 year old lad is a star and he helps out so much, from carrying my 1 year old downstairs to fetching and running and even proping me up if it goes while were out and about bless him. But when it comes to helping me clean up i just get the 'kevin' attitude lol.
Well thats my living room swept so its bed for me or ill have no energy at all tomorrow....thanks guys0 -
Whoo hoo - what a lot fo posts - I feel soooo much better knowing I am not the only messy about!!!!
Jackie - I think your OH has hit the nail on the head - I certainly dont mind being called lazy b!tch - as the song goes "I am what I am"
Taliahmai - nice to meet you - I really think you would benefit from commercial break cleaning - on my worst days I can still get a lot done by just doing work in between TV programmes or if you are an online set yourself one task every half hour (set an alarm if needed)
Laurel - I am taking your priniciple and opening a charity shop bag which I will leave in the corner of my cupboard under the stairs - stuff that isnt being used will go straight in and then it can go when it is full!
Esther - How are you getting on? It might take a while to get there but one job at a time will get you there !
1step, Snookey, Grey Queen, Soup, Ellie - Sounds like you are all having fun with this - I wish I had your motivation for all these big jobs.
I am amazed every time I log into this thread how many people are confessing all - you have no idea how happy you make me all!!!0 -
Oh I feel so bad reading this. I dont work, dont have health problems and so really have no reason not to have a neat and tidy house. I feel really bad when people come around and its a mess because they must think "god what a lazy cow, what does she do all day?"
I am currently taking some time off work to care for my son who has been really ill (although slowly improving thank goodness). I planned to use this time to blitz the house which has gradually got in a mess through years of me and OH working all hours. I seem to be really busy all the time and although I have made some improvements I am not really getting anywhere.
I have two problems I think. One is that we just have too much stuff. Dont have a garage or decent shed either so there is lots of stuff in my utility room that needs a proper home.
The other problem is that our house desperately needs decorating, new carpets etc - which we dont have money for. Deep down I feel that no matter how much tidying and cleaning I do I am never going to make it look really nice - which makes it harder to motivate myself.
OK so here's my plan! I have to accept that my house is not going to look like a show home - but I can make it look as good as possible. If it is clean and tidy everywhere then surely thats something?
I have to be ruthless and get rid of stuff. Lots of stuff. I think I maybe need to do this one room/area at a time. I also need to think about where stuff gets stored and how I can make the most of the space we have.
Sorry for the long post - I desperately need some encouragement and this thread has made me feel like I am not on my own. Everyone else I know seems to have a perfect home which makes me feel terrible.0 -
have a hug Yorkshirelass, just because you aren't going out from 9-5 doesn't mean you aren't working. Taking care of your boy is the most important job you can do. As for the house, we can see if we can help you get sorted whilst we sort ourselves out, and then maybe you could buy yourself a pot of emulsion of see if there's any going on Freecycle to at least freshen the place up once its cleaner and tidier. I
I am off to work today, and will face the house when I come badk, at the moment it is in the "bloody mess" stage because I have started clearing and been interrupted by life. Have a good day everyone. xxIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
morning folks
well ive woke up with no motivation as the kids have run riot lol but im gonna be good and still try, altho maybe just concentrate on my living room and dining room with the added extra of washing up and hanging my washing out.
Im lovin the idea of commercial break cleaning and im definatly going to give that a try and also the charity bag idea! Altho i did have a big clear out of all our clthes a few weeks ago so its not too bad at the min......its mainly toys we collect lol.
Yorkshire lass, im very much the same with the lack of space/storage so things just get dumped on tables, sofas etc. I have 2 sofas in my living room but its more often the case there is only 2 seats to sit on out of the 6 lol0 -

I on the other hand have spent all day in pointless meetings at work so have done absolutely nothing! In a mo I will make dinner and clean up after that, and take the rubbish out as it is collection day tomorrow, and that will probably be the sum total of my efforts today.
By the way, Imataloss, I just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration words in your signature. For various personal reasons, things have been really tough for me lately and your signature reminded me to take each day as it comes and to stop worrying about tomorrow and all the other days that follow it.
Thanks espresso21. I found the words in a magazine and found them inspirational. We have had a tough few years due to family illness and bereavement and it reminds me that life has to go on even in the toughest times.0 -
Well. they didn't collect the rubbish yesterday, which would have been potential rubbish collection day + 1 for Bank Hol, so have to assume that as the moon is waning that this week we're supposed to be on a Tuesday so today (Weds, I think, better be or I'm late for work LOL) will be THE DAY. Gawd, reading that back is giving me a headache. For recent arrivals, my bin collections are supposed to be Tues but in reality happen at random. I need the rubbish to have gone so I can put the freecycle pick-ups into the cupboard and not fret that they'll be taken away as rubbish.
:)Which is why I've posted some stuff on freecycle with my usual caveat that I'll wait 24 hours before checking for responses to be fair to those who don't have contstant internet access, such as me.Sooooo, in theory, some carp could be off the premises on Thursday. Bring it on! Or off, as the case may be.
My place is a muddle with pans soaking in the kitchen and a pile of clothes on the floor. My flat is so tiny that there is no room for a linen bin or even a laundry basket so I use the washer as a dirty linen bin and just boot out what doesn't fit or is the wrong colour; am doing a white wash now so the rest is on the floor until that finishes. Then I will rack it on the airer (no outside space) and can't do anymore washing until it's dry and away.
Small space living...not very gracious but that's all I can afford and I'm grateful for what I do have....I lived in a bedsit for 3 years once...you really don't want to imagine how bad that was.....:rotfl:PS, has anyone else noticed that all the old-fashioned words for a poor housekeeper are also sexual slurs (!!!!!!, slattern etc etc)? I guess the idea was that if we aren't scrubbing doorsteps we'd be "at it" with people not our lawful-weddeds. I've heard dust bunnies called by their OS name of "!!!!!!'s wool". If you've ever hand-carded fleece like me, you'll see the similarity between those greyish rolls of fluff and the combings off the carding paddles.
Well, I'm off to seduce the postie. It's either that or finish the washing up......:rotfl:

Hello everyone - well my plans from yesterday failed to materialise. Had a busy day workwise and had to take car for MOT at lunchtime - it passed.
Made lamb curry for tea with leftovers from Sunday. Cleared up kitchen, quick spray around bathroom and spent 45 mins ironing. Chair is now clear once again but still have the basket upstairs to conquer.
After all that I felt very tired and just wanted to go to bed.
Living Room looking ok - just needs a quick vacuum.
Kitchen/Diner/My office - the one room needs ripping out and starting from scratch but I can`t stand the thought of the mess.
Bedroom - very dusty. Needs a good clearout and clean.
Hall, stairs, landing - needs a good vacuum. Carpet is covered in cat hairs.
Was up early this morning and cleaned out the fridge. Was ashamed about how much fresh fruit and veg I had to throw out. Also cleared out the veg basket in the cupboard and had to throw out potatoes, sweet potatoes and butternut squash which could not be use.
Note to myself to meal plan and check the fridge and cupboards before going shopping.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

:rotfl:- thanks you have brightened my morning. Time for work now, back later.0 -
Morning all
Double efforts for the next two days for me as I want to watch the Wedding on Friday but will watch the ITV coverage so I can do commercial break jobs while it's on - in theory anyway!
I'm concentrating on the kitchen today as the lounge is being painted with it's final coat of emulsion so straightening up in there will be tomorrow's task.
So... today will see me pulling out appliances to clean underneath and behind and, somehow, I have to clean the big window which is situated behind the sink so I can't even sit on the worktop! (I'm not that tall and don't have very long arms so it's a P-I-T-A) and possibly some in-cupboard cleaning.
Then this evening will be bathroom and kitchen floors during commercial breaks.
I'm loving this whole way of working I feel so much better about getting things done, even if it is baby steps. It's so good mentally to know that I've done so much even if they are jobs (ie tops and insides of cupboards) that no-one else can see the benefit of!!
Taliahmai and YORKSHIRELASS :grouphug: (have a dodgy group hug) keep reading this thread, we all feel how you do and it's definitely working to keep me motivated.
Hope you all have good days0
