  • Rummer- I can highly recommend her, Guilty Pleasures is the first one and it is surprisingly good!

I'm practising being mindful about everything today, so loaded the washing machine last night ready to go on this morning, made sure I took notice of myself locking the doors this morning (normally I end up driving back and forth to the house to check everything is locked) and somehow, even though I took more time over everything, I got to work 15 minutes earlier. Still on Cambridge until I run out of sachets, then the hard work...which I'm a little bit scared of, I don't really enjoy being in control of things. I was really surprised last night as to how much I got done in the 15 minutes before the alarm on my phone went off, my spare room looks so much better for not having rubbish all over the floor (admittedly, it also looks better now OH has dragged the carpet offcuts back out that he had dumped in there). Will look even better by the weekend when the Christmas stuff is out and we've decorated (got to admit, not keen on doing it so early this year, but OH was so sweet when he asked).

So I've put the washing machine on and will hang all that up in the warm warm kitchen when I get home, and practise getting the fire going (I'm pants at it, but redeemed myself on Monday night by making a beast of an omelette for OH). Have a great day everyone!

  • Morning messies - a post and run today as I'm expecting visitors.

My dad reads Laurell K Hamilton and really enjoys them. Now his favourite film is John Carpenters Vampires so he likes his gory detail!

So far today I have run DW, WM and TD. New cooker is finally fitted so need to finish kitchen today. Also got a pile of paperwork to file or shred so going to be busy this morning.

This afternoon I'm taking my sister to drs as she's just had an op and is off for a check up. Tonight I will wrap some pressies and write a few cards.

Now that seems like a fair amount for today. Wish me luck ;)

:o I may have gone back to bed :o

Anyway thank you for the book recommendations I have reserved her first ones through the library and I am really looking forward to reading them :)

As a wee token gesture I have put the washing machine on and piled some things up to take to the recylce bin once the the torrential rain and howling winds take a break

I have decided that I need a tidier in my life not a cleaner, do you think they exist and that they work for free (or tea and biccies?)

  • No probs lovely :) Can I go back to bed? (having said that I do only have a little over an hour left at work then the rest of the day is miiiiiiine...including an OH that will be at his evening class until 8pm or so!)

  • Hello again fellow Messies. I`ve been MIA for days due to silly shifts and barely keeping up with the basics (then catching up with the basics I`d overlooked!)
Had a quick read here to catch up...

Snookey, I`m so sorry to hear about your dog, and sorry I didn`t read & respond earlier. Many dogs have a bad time, discarded or neglected -or worse. Take some comfort when you feel sad about your loss - your dog was one of the lucky ones, he was loved.

Cat - I really enjoyed your reports on the boiler saga! Hope it`s all sorted for you.
Welcome to Messyville all new folks, and (HUGS) to all ailing or missing Messies!

Messy `party` online sounds great, will join in if shifts permitting!

I now have 3 days off, so full of good intentions & big ideas. So far today I have:-
    1) Untrashed kitchen (will trash it again later probably when dealing with item 4)
    2) Poo-picked & brought in coal & logs (safer in daylight!)
    3) Fed WM & hung stuff in doorways
    4) Been to farm shop, got a `squeaky` fresh cauli, very fresh dirty carrots, and bought a flagon of their pickling vinegar & tray of eggs for pickling, also got some mushrooms to pickle. And a chicken for tonight.

    5) Peeled spuds & scrubbed dirty carrots ready for tonight.

LR is a real tip though, am sitting here at the computer trying not to look around me & wondering where to start! Just checked weather forecast, decided to shake mats outside and get them washed - cotton to launderette, woolly in WM. Big Sigh...Emm drags herself away from computer..

I have achieved greatness so far today :D

    • Laundry on - washing and drying!
    • Livingroom tidied
    • Magazine pile cleared out
    • Hall sorted
    • DD things taken to her room

Getting a bit anxious though as our bin collection has been cut down to once a fortnight and due to the strike today I don't think they are going to be collected so it looks as if our bin is going to be full for a month . We currently have it out with bags precariously balanced on the top and some (carrier) bags in kitchen that we can run out with if they come. If they don't I am going to have to take a few trips to the dump, over the next few weeks, which frustrates me no end.

I recycle all I can and part of the decision to get a veg box is to reduce our rubbish output. The bin is so full atm as I have ordered a lot of pressies for xmas online so they have all been delivered in boxes filling the recycle bin :(

That is another thing, trying to store the pressie in subtle places so they can not be found, while still trying to remember where everything is :rotfl:

hi all:) snookey, so glad you're feeling a bit better.

I went back to bed too Rummer! Even though I didn't get up till 10am the first time.....:o

MM good luck with your next steps in the weight loss battle!! Can't say I'm not relieved you're coming off CD, it just isn't worth the damage it was clearly doing to you day to day:(

Kitty that sounds like MORE than enough for a day!:)

Boiler man (yep here we go again!) phoned, at which time the water was working so we agreed that he wouldn't come out today......guess if it's working now. Go on, guess! CBA with another visit today so I'll call them tomorrow, I've to ask for him personally lol. Managed to get the glasses washed before it went boobs up.

Posted Xmas card to South Africa, and UK cards. Made tea for DS, DDs out visiting their friend and her baby.

Again I'm sort of stumped for something productive to do. May give the paintwork a wash down later when DS wants on the computer, or I may just retire to bed and read one of the Agatha Christie's that came in the post this morning! Just don't feel like decluttering or ironing :(

hugs to all and big shout out to all MIA - haven't seen YL for a few days xxx

Emm, let us know when your shifts are and with any luck we can work round them! x

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
Today Iv washed every dish and pan in the house or so it seems. Cleaned the floors and put a few loads of washing on. Im determined to get the house straight in the next weekor so and will try to set goals.
OH has come down with a cold, hope I dont get it .'

Did some xmas present wrapping last night. Every year I seem to have a stack to wrap a couple of days before xmas, not this year though. Ill be eating mince pies with Father christmas this year, lol.
Rummer hopefully the bins will be emptied for you. Its not right that you have to go the tip when you pay your council tax. Maybe if you charged the council for the cost of petrol and your time they might change their bin policy. Well pigs might fly.

Cat sorry to hear about your boiler problems . Is the boiler man handsome or is there really a problem with that boiler, lol.

Having fish and chips for our tea apart from ds who is having chicken. What is everyone else having.
  • Rummer - stashing Xmas pressies & forgetting them - Oh Yes! Bought my eldest DGD (now 12) a doll`s teaset when she was tiny, found it when she was 10 - so second youngest DGD got it!
MessyMare (actually that`s a petname I sometimes call eldest DGD, it makes her giggle!) I`m also glad to hear you`re giving up on that particular diet. I`m no expert, but if your health isn`t `boosted` by a diet it can`t be doing much good in the long run. I`m also a great believer in `cravings`, I don`t mean the `stuff your face with cake` sort, but the sudden fancy for something different - especially the strange ones. I got a craving for apricots after I had breast cancer & started my medication-induced menopause, yet I had always really hated apricots all my life until then! Recently I`ve fancied salmon, but it`s got to be FRIED and it`s the skin I really want. Maybe we still have instincts? Body trying to tell us something?
