    Rummer - well done

Service went well yesterday. DH stayed at home to cook a roast dinner for us all, when we got back he was in a right fizz - the chicken [large] smelt disgusting when it was defrosted so he'd had to go out and buy more chicken!!! But we still had a lovely meal.

House was given a going over yesterday but back to being a pit again!!! How does it manage to degenerate so quickly?

DS is here today [teacher training day] and DD has gone to Alton Towers with her class year so she was packed off early

    Hope you are all ok

    Love and hugs

CP - I wouldn't worry whats expected of you, what do you want and expect. I am single, and i think that makes a difference. I would not wait hand and foot on someone (prob why im single), i really think it needs to be a 2 way thing, its respect. I dont crave a relationship, but if someone slotted in and made me feel really good about myself, then great. I think its great about your internet business, but if your house was sorted, it really does clear your mind. My place is normally ok, i would not say great, but having this gynormous mess at the moment through having a new kitchen installed and electrics being rewired, really immobolises (spelt wrong drr) me. I know from experience that organised life = organised mind - so much easier said then done. I wish you well, and hope that you and your partner, whom you both seem to love very much, find time for sorting out yourselves.

p.s. ANYONE - going for interview on 7th, need Access and Excel (minimal knowledge), don't have on my computer, anyone know an easy way to learn online, thanks ??

To be honest we have a VERY old fashioned relationship, which I think stems from our parents somewhat. He does the big stuff which mainly involves a lot of home improvement, fixing cars, etc. I set myself up for this really because I was very into home making when we got together, but gradually my energy levels dropped again. I was utterly delighted when I came down this morning and he'd washed up though :D He's a powerhouse of energy- he very much throws himself into things and works until he's exhausted. I'm more conscious that I have to stop before the exhaustion point or I'll make myself very ill indeed. However this Wednesday he's back at college so lovely house to myself all evening, so I'll have a mini blitz then to try to keep on top of everything :)

Laurel- Well done on the tree work! You must be exhausted!

Glad you are feeling better CP :) OH doing the dishes is a great start!

Well done on everyone's achievements over the past couple of days. :T Save Dosh, well done on taking a stand with your daughter - she sounds very like MY 18 yr old DD! Although she'd be quite happy living on value noodles I think!

Glad yesterday went well Helen :)

VJs mum - I feel right sorry for that 14 year old! Not her job to clear up after her siblings imo :((

Must admit i didn't really surface yesterday....:o bit too much of the old:beer:on Saturday :o

Today, took a washing down to DS's dad's house to do, did his dishes (he's disabled, but why is it so easy to do other people's stuff? I always used to be found in the kitchen at parties - washing up! ) Got some shopping, came back and made some important phone calls, not easy for me but had to be done, kids getting a "Hallowe'en" chippy from Mum and Dad for tea (they really know how to get round my mum, but it saves me a job) Just have to find my anti-depressants now, like GreyQueen I have a bedroom floor I can't see and I know they are there somewhere!! Back down to pick up the washing later tonight, other than that, nothing planned. Think I lost a tenner at the shops so that's put me on a real CBA downer.

Hey but you sound like you've had a really productive day, but it does suck about the tenner :(

thanks CP:D - I guess as things go it's not been a bad day, and working things out I'm sure it was a fiver I lost so I have to look at that as a positive!! The phone calls HAD to be made, no more putting it off, so I'm glad they're done. Washing picked up, and hung up on airer. Now to search that bedroom floor......

Edit to say - found my pills really quickly and was so chuffed I did the dishes :)))
  • Hello again All. I`ve just read 3 pages of posts, catching up. Enjoyed Friday night & Saturday with OH, then working since. Do forgive me for not responding to each as I`d like to (short-term memory is just that! especially after today`s early shift! This post may be bitty but `tis from the heart)
CP, hugs, you dear - your post reminded me of old times when me & late hubby used to row, & me going out in the rain but not alone, my (also late) canine company was always on my side & such a comfort, and that old dog KNEW, and he wouldn`t `speak` to hubby till well after we were back on terms of endearment again!
Helen, I`m glad the memorial service went well, shame about that `off` chicken though!
Cat, how horrible it feels to LOSE money. I hate that feeling. I`d rather give someone a fiver than lose one, even `lend` cash knowing I`ll never get it back...just losing it makes me feel really bad, dunno why it`s so much worse but it is. Also, you & Greyqueen aren`t the only ones with a bedroom floor issue, any small item that hits floor level in my bedroom at present, if it REALLY has to be searched for & gets found
is a) festooned with dog-hairs b) likely to start a sort of `domestic archaeology` trail as other items get disturbed...in strata.
Yorkshirelass - re your sister visiting. OK, it`s hard because you`re family. But I`m sure I`d feel more comfortable in your house than hers! You sound way more `normal` -whatever that means! Hope it`s OK, but don`t stress, t`ain`t worth it!
Cranky - our cat does that - whenever I `reclaim` a bit of space in kitchen or livingroom. Also does it outside, eg roosted for hours on top of new log-shelter, then favoured the stack of old pallets left over from making it. And she ALWAYS tries to claim any new Pile in the livingroom - like clean towels or rugs waiting to get put away upstairs.
Savedosh - sympathy re the `kitchenette in LR`, but brings back happy memories! Many years ago, when we were having things done to house, we were without a kitchen over Christmas! Household then comprised 2 adults, 2 teenagers, 4 fosterlings, 2 dogs and 3 cats. Joint effort (hubby was handy in the kitchen even when we didn`t HAVE a kitchen!) & loan of extra microwave & deep fat fryer, plus open fire and a primus- we had chicken portions, stuffing, roasties, parsnips, sprouts & chestnuts, instant mash &instant gravy, and trifle that hadn`t set properly(no fridge)but all got eaten. Had 3 bowls of washingup to ferry upstairs as we had to do it in bathroom -happy days! Dust wasn`t so bad as it was all damp, as I recall, more like a fine coating of pale mud when you wiped things...
  • CP - other folks` washing-up or cleaning IS easier than one`s own, I agree. I used to quite happily do lots to help at DS`s when he was with XDDIL, and I`m a really tidy methodical person at work, too. One`s own mess is SO much harder to tackle - even though I admit I quite like washing up. I use this job as a starter, on days at home when I feel I don`t know where to start. All too often I run out of steam after that`s done...it`s the CLUTTER factor - other folks` clutter doesn`t mean anything much, but our own clutter is something only we can sort, that`s why it`s such a big bogey. RIGHT! philosophising now about Mess! that`s a sign it`s time for bed- OH long gone, earlies phase tomorrow (not nights, thank heavens) and I`m off - opposite shifts. I`m beginning to think Conspiracy theory...

Hi everyone. Helen Im glad the service went well and as someone else has said ,hope that it brought some comfort.

Yorkshire Lass dont worry about your sister Im sure she has her own issues and would not like her visit to make you uncomfortable. I bet she will appreciate being able to sit back and relax without worrying about having to plump up the cushions.

Iv been doing some more painting although Im getting bored of it now. Its a big room with a high ceiling and feels as if its taking forever. Im off to the gym in the morning with oh so maybe the break from the house will give me the kick to do more painting when I get back.

    Take care everyone.
