My home is a mess

Morning everyone. Can I join you all please in being a messy?! I don't think that there is a single room in my house that isn't a tip so it's time to sort it all out. There are 9 rooms to sort (including hall and landing) and I will leave the spare room 'til last because I can't even open the door to that!
Hall today. Plan is to clear the crap off the floor, off the ledge behind the door where post gets dumped (why we feel the need to keep opened envelopes is anyones guess!), clear the gorgeous glass coffee table that cost me a fortune but no-one ever gets to see because it is covered in crap and dust and then sweep and mop the floor.
I am a serial procrastinator. I am not a hoarder as such, I have no problem with getting rid of stuff I am pretty much too lazy to do it. I have been reading the thread from the beginning and I am up to about page 30 so long way to go. I will read a page and then go and do 20 minutes sorting and then come back to keep up the motivation! xxxxxxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Whoa!! Well done Helen jelly!
Hello all messies, I haven't deserted, just been flat out at work and very exhausted. I still have a couple of boxes of kitchen stuff (I have a feeling some of it will still be there when I start clearing up for Christmas!)
Anyhow, Rummer, I'm right behind you on the washing front, got three (count 'em!) loads dry, fourth in the machine. It's a great blustery day and warm too, so washing is dry in a blink.
Just made another apple crumble (so that I didn't have to start hoovering, truthfully). I'll run the hoover round the worst bits today or tomorrow morning, and will do my bits of ironing tomorrow morning too.
The weather does feel very ominous. I've turned over the garden furniture and flattened that which can be flattened. Good luck to all who might get gales, hope they're not too bad. We might have them here in the north west, last time there were gale force winds I lost part of my roof! Hope it's not that bad this year!

Hi all. Iv been out shopping for essentials. No tax credits for son again Ill have to get in touch again Monday.
Iv just seen evidence of christmas in poundland!. I think that shops should have to hide Christmas stock until December, bah humbug!!
Not sure what Ill do today with regards to house cleaning. I may just look around me,roll my eyes and put blinkers on. No difference there then,lol.0 -

Yes it is, if I'm anything to go by
Seriously, I am so glad this thread is here - the competence demonstrated in some other threads is just too much for me, I grew up in a messy house and I am a thoroughly messy housekeeper myself.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

jolly good
i find it so difficult to keep on top of things and it doesn't help that i hate housework. the big downside of being messy (for me anyway) is that a simple task like sorting out a storage cupboard (which i have been attempting today) is such a huge ordeal - to clear a mess - you have to make room for the mess somewhere else - and that is messy so needs clearing first - then you mess on top of mess on top of mess - i have had a mare of a job today - and all i wanted to do is make a bit of space for my homebrew wine (got the bottles all nicely sorted - but i now have a huge pile of linen etc - strew all over the lounge and nowhere sorted to store it :eek:saving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk

Hi Splodger and Penguin
Splodger - I had exactly the same prob the other day!! Its a flippin nightmare sorting out all the carp around me cos in order to do so I have to make more mess and then that needs sorting out!!! Baby steps is the way forward - just take a small chunk of the mess and then sort that, have a break [15mins or 15 days, whatever suits you] and then do another chunk. But when you've finished it just take a min or 2 to look at what you've managed - I only get a min or 2 and then the kids come along and wreck it again lol Hope you manage to get it sorted for all that wine - at least you won't feel the cold in the winter after you've drunk it!!
I've been VERY lazy this afternoon, having finished clearing the cupboard I decided to watch TV for a little while, 3 hours of watching junk later and I decide to have a 30min mad rush round, I put away some ironing, cleaned the bathroom and had a shower - its very overcast here but oh so very muggy - keeps giving me a headache, I just wish the rain would come to clear the air a bit
Have a cool evening everyone, we're watching Strictly and then the Doctor

Muggy here too Helen, after the last few weeks the warmth feels strange! I've done some washing, cooking and baking, I made an apple crumble, a giant biscuit thing (I'm going to double bake it and call it biscotti) and a huge pot of bolognaise for the week. All this (except the washing which I decided to be sensible about) was diversion tactics to avoid hoovering and dusting, which I loatheI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hello messies
I didnt get anything at all done in the house yesterday as DH is away so spent the morning ferrying kids to their clubs then trip to town to buy a few clothes bits which were required, and finally a food shop too.
Need to get on top of the washing and ironing today, and get the house tidied up. I plan to clean tomorrow which will be much easier if I can start with a tidyish house!
On the decluttering front, I've received the 2 packs I ordered for a local NCT sale so need to start pulling things out and labelling them up. We are in desperate need of a clear out. We've got quite a few toys that the kids really are just too old for. I've been reluctant to clear them out as I find they do still play with them occasionally, normally when I start talking about clearing out but we're getting to a point where we will have no space for the christmas influx and I can't close the very large toy cupboard!! Also need to check the shed as I know there are some bits in there, a baby bouncer still at the in-laws, clothes in the loft and conservatory. Also said I would clear out the toy cupboard at my mums.0 -
MummyEm - I tell my kids that if Father Christmas is to deliver any new toys then we have to clear out the things that they don't want and that the space is needed for new things, Father Christmas can't leave toys to children who have lots already!!!
Not alot going on here apart from washing and drying and then the inevitable ironing tonight!!
