  • Hi Messies

Not much done today. DD went with OH to work let DS with me. Did washing up, and re washed some oh had done as it was full of greasy slime:eek::mad:. Took DS to Wilko's to return some kids picnicware I realised I really didn't need. Their toiletries are very reasonable, got "ladies things" which were 50p a pkt cheaper than asda! Went to poundland got some bits, boots half price suncream and checked out mothercare for a footmuff for stroller. Assistant who I have dealt with for years said DS was too big and to buy a snowsuit. At least she saved me some money. Bumped into OH BF, he had spoken to OH and he was sure my problem was sleep deprivation, what a sensible chap!:D OH & DD finally turned up at 8pm I stomped off to bed as I couldn't be civil. Now downstairs watching titanic and googling cheap snow/rain suits. Have a good evening messies!

oooh helen well done honey bet it'll look fab for her when it's finished . Just put bunks in princess k's room so her cousins or her brother and sister can stay without them needing to share a bed. Put the beds up put in an expedit for all her stuff then she said aren't you going to decorate i've had this paper and paint for years ( about 12 months max ).

Spent a fortune today on a new king size duvet for no 3 son a single for dgd spare bunk and a single duvet for no 4 son. plus 4 single covers for dgd and 1 king size for no 3 no 4 hasn't decided what colour he wants yet but he helped paint his walls blue the other day lol.
Bought no 4 a new desk as he only has space for a small one in his new room. Think i'll have to take pics when they are completed if only to prove to myself that the rooms were once tidy. rofl

As confession is good for the soul, I'll say it.. I hate all housework and decorating. I don't need motivation, I need a rocket. Ugh!

I keep reading on here and hope something may help me like it, or just even get on with doing it. I'm hopeless, utterly hopeless. I could bake and cook all day, I love doing washing, everything else is meh!

    Please don't mention ironing.

I'm exactly the same!! We keep running out of clothes that aren't ironed. I know some people can get away with not ironing but I can't. I have to do it. I have 3 piles waiting to be done but something else always comes along that is more exciting to do lol

I'm away to do some painting now, trouble is, the fumes give me a headache so its windows open wide time.

    Hav a nice day everyone

Morning all - haven't you all been busy, especially the decorators! You are putting me to shame, we have decided to start decorating in earnest (which of course will mean more decluttering for me - not a problem now I have trained with you all! :D )

Took doggy to the vet's on Friday, had to do it alone as our car was booked in to have a stone chip repair, and as it had gone down to the metal it had to be done ASAP - so I borrowed Mum's car to get to the vet's. Felt horrible leaving here there........and waiting till after 2 for DH to ring them (I'm usually OK with stuff like that but when it comes to the dog :rotfl: So DH called me to say they took the lump out and did we still want it tested - as they are almost certain it's a fatty lump and not a recurrence of the tumour she had removed earlier in the year! What a wally, let's just say I'm glad I had waterproof mascara on that day!

Madam has 4 stitches on her neck which don't seem to bother her at all, check on them tomorrow and then they come out next Monday. We are still having the lump analysed to be on the safe side. We also heard of another dog the same breed that needs a home so went to check him out yesterday - but he's crossed with something a lot bigger, and our one does not get on with larger dogs! So it's back to the drawing board - we have looked on the breed rescue site and seen an 'older' lady that needs a home (7 years old, ours is 6) so she might be the one - trouble is she's 170 miles away, 3 hours drive - bit like the one yesterday! I suppose I can phone the rescue in the week and see what they have to say - as we have one already it can only help I suppose!

Emm-in-a-pickle -yes this will be our third dog and all rescues - it seems a nice thing to do to give a dog a home - I got quite upset with all the dogs in the rescue yesterday but we have to have the one that is right for us (and madam!) as we don't want to be sending the poor thing back again.

Ex-Trolly - I know what you mean about vets cocking up the PTS procedure, took them 3 attempts on our lovely cross breed and we said never again to another dog, it was awful - we lasted 3 weeks! :rotfl: You would think it's something they would be competent to do, but evidently not - and this was a vet who was trying to get us to consent to a battery of tests to 'find out what was wrong' - she was almost 17 and had dementia for starters, plus a heart murmur, it really was time to let her go and we had reached that decision - I think he saw it as a money making opportunity. We don't go to that vet's now, but one further away that was recommended by the rescue we got our current dog from - and we know for a fact that they will go the extra mile - to the extent that the chief vet walked a rescue dog about for ages until he had parted with the tablets he had gobbled down, and then made sure they were all there (yuk!) - he really is excellent!

We had a few smashed windows in the village plus a few youths wandering round, but they were all sent on their way by the police and various neighbours - it seems people are being more neighbourly now or is it just my imagination?

Oh well, shower and Mr T's for me - then we will see what the day will bring (washing and ironing for certain!) Hope everyone has a good Sunday, and thanks to everyone for their kind wishes!

Doh! I just typed a huge post and the system logged me out so I lost it!

    Start again then..

I've been reading this thread - only on about page 6 as yet though..

My place needs a thorough clean and clear out!

Mostly it's a clothes and bits and pieces clear out upstairs as I don't have much clutter downstairs.
As regards cleaning everything needs a good clean..walls, floors, tiles, windows..the lot! It also needs decorating throughout badly as I haven't been able to do that since I moved in in 2006. Plus there are holes in some walls from a previous lodger who woudl get drunk and damage things by falling into them - there's also curry stains from when he fell asleep eating it in his room just after I had had the carpets cleaned.and grease stains on my then brand new leather sofas (which I still work on to remove) from where he fell asleep while eating a chinese, stod up, sat in it and then promptly sat on my other new sofa as well.

Brief history as to why my motivation is currently lacking:

April: Washing machine broke down so had to get a new one.

May: TV broke down so had to get a new one but I don't drive and couldn't life the massive old one so it was still sitting in my living room for a couple of months)

June: My lodger's 40th birthday was coming up on the Wednesday so went went to a car show together on the Saturday and then on the Sunday she needed to go shopping for work clothes for a new job - she gets anxiety attacks when out alone so I went with her and we had fun.
She told me a few months after she moved in two years ago that she is manic depressive but refuses medication so sometimes she is fine, other times she holes herself up and cries/wails a lot. which is pretty hard to live with - she also doesn't sleep at night and has her light on but sleeps in heh daytime so I couldn't do much that was noisy in the day around here. I walked on eggshells a lot of the time.
On the Tuesday night after the weekend we'd had her married boyfriend arrived to pick her up for her 40th birthday. She banged all the doors on the way out and I overheard her saying to her fella that she always bangs doors in my property as I don't like it). I won't mention the incident in January when I got home at 6pm and found them both half dressed in my living room which they thought was hilarious).

Post birthday - June to July: Lodger spends all her time in her room and cries. I rarely saw her but if I did she didn't speak to me.
My power shower broke down so I had to get that replaced.

July 5th She gives a few hours notice by emailing me while i was at work and leaves without paying rent - I had only a very minimal deposit left as she had asked for some of it back as she had no money between jobs and awaiting benefit)
Two days later she came to collect the rest of her stuff but left a truckload of things including 10 boxes, 8 bin bags, a broken bicyle, various fitness items like a trampoline and a stepper thing, kitchen gadgets, books..cuddly toys..she also left and drove off leaving my front door wide open without saying a word.

Week commencing July 10th: I began clearing it all out to my garage and am now working on putting it in our communal skips a bit at a time as she clearly didn't want any of it.
There was mould and a nest of bugs in her room - which was all pretty horrendous to get cleaned up.

Week commencing July 17th: She has been back into my property so obviously had keys cut - she left my post on the side in the place she always did..I think she was looking for post of hers as she gave me no forwarding address.

I quickly had the locks changed.

My fridge freezer which was on it's last legs stopped freezing so I had to get a new one.
With the new one you couldn't request the old one to be recycled or disconnected but I managed to wangle getting the delivery guys to do that for me and also managed to get them to take away my old TV - bonus!! :0)

After letting the freezer rest for a few hours I couldn't get it back into the place it shoudl be as I am not big enough nor strong enough to shift it.
Next morning I noticed a leak coming into my kitchen from the waste pipes from my place and the maisonette above.
I managed to get a plumber in yesterday who fixed my hot water tank overflow, put a silencer on the new ballcock I have in my cold water tank which was changed at teh same time as the shower as the other plumber thought it was the cold tank overflowng - my cold tank has been incredibly noisy since and kept me awake - tis now sorted though.
He also fixed a leak under my sink but my taps also need changing there so they are on order as they leak too.
The new plumber fixed my waste pipe, he left and only then did my neighbours come back so I got them to run their taps as all my water had been run down. There was another leak so my plumber came straight back and taped it with tar tape.
This morning there is another leak which I have spotted and I'm waiting for the pipe to dry so I can check where it is coming from.

My fridge freezer is in the dining area, my washing machine is sticking out and not really useable at the moment.
I have lost all of the pipe casing in my kitchen and two cupboards which are not sat drying out, part of my kitchen ceiling is also gone. I have lost half of the wall casing to the pipes in my bathroom also and the shelf and panel which was casing by my bathroom sink.

Any tips for motivation to clean up would be great..I am just not feeling any right now.

How do you motivate if parts of your house are literally wrecked?

Apologies for the rant here..I needed it!

I am ashamed to say that I have gone back to my slovenly ways just when I was starting to get on top of things again:o I know the root cause of the problem - I am depressed and my GP agrees and there are reasons for this. My business is struggling and one client decided that it was easier to dispense with my services and use cheaper labour instead and that knocked me for six because I was relying on that money:mad: I know what I need to do to get myself out the pickle and had an interview on Wednesday evening for one job (they will let me know this week) and I have another one on Wednesday for an 18.5hr week job somewhere else...fingers crossed I get both:D

I have started to make some inroads - I washed up yesterday and have another lot to do today, thankfully I don't have much to do because I havent been eating properly because I have been trying to cover my outgoings so cutback on food.

I look at the mess and then feel even more depressed and nothing gets done:mad: At least inroads have been made...will get more bin bags tomorrow when I go out.
