Jariya sounds like you are well rid.Have you tired freecycle to get rid of your broken tv?

Horace you sound how i feel, overwhelmed.Make small targets and maybe set off a 5 minute timer if you have one, or it will seem too much too handle.

I need to clean my kitchen and wash the floor.Put a load of washing on.put laundry away and most importantly keep sane !!

My house would be perfect if I did not have family living in it as well! They leave their mess everywhere and I am so bored of having to tidy and clean up after them. When I ask them to tidy the tings they have dragged out they either ignore me or grump.

Maybe I should declutter them :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That really is my down fall :o My ironing pile is now so huge I can't put any thing thing else on top  We now tend to iron as needed, must do half an hour each day to get on top of it.

I must admit I hate it so much I do very little, so I don't iron, I fold.

I take things, and either hang or fold them up and put them away, if they wan't it ironed they can do it themselves.

No one seems to have bothered though so maybe I was doing all that ironing for nothing as no one seems to look particularly creased.

As for ironing bedding, after you've got in bed it's all to mush anyway.

I do iron smart shirts, uniforms for work and some smart stuff for going out.

I always check for creasability when buying stuff now , pure cotton is murder, but polycotton stays pretty creasefree. Anything fleece is heaven.

I know how you feel, I just gather everything up once a day and chuck it in their rooms and yes, they always moan about it.

What else can I do? I'm wearing out a voicebox asking them to tidy up.

Soo instead of applying for jobs this afternoon I'm getting up every 10 minutes to mop up water from OH pressure washing the outside wall to get paint off. The water is running down the side of the building, seeping through the wall and running out under the stairs and into the entrance hall. I'm really scared the bottom of the staircase will end up rotten :( I understand why he wants to do it and I get that the sooner he gets it over with the sooner the water can start drying, but I'm really worried about it :( I think he's angry now because I asked him to stop due to the sheer amount of water coming through the wall :(

I am ashamed to say that I have gone back to my slovenly ways just when I was starting to get on top of things again:o I know the root cause of the problem - I am depressed and my GP agrees and there are reasons for this. My business is struggling and one client decided that it was easier to dispense with my services and use cheaper labour instead and that knocked me for six because I was relying on that money:mad: I know what I need to do to get myself out the pickle and had an interview on Wednesday evening for one job (they will let me know this week) and I have another one on Wednesday for an 18.5hr week job somewhere else...fingers crossed I get both:D

I have started to make some inroads - I washed up yesterday and have another lot to do today, thankfully I don't have much to do because I havent been eating properly because I have been trying to cover my outgoings so cutback on food.

I look at the mess and then feel even more depressed and nothing gets done:mad: At least inroads have been made...will get more bin bags tomorrow when I go out.

As a fellow sufferer, my heart goes out to you. I find it helpful not to think about tomorrow too much and try to do just a little today.

Try and make sure you eat as well as you can. Poor health due to poor nutrition is something you could do without. Simple but nourishing foods are still quite cheap.

Take care and good luck with the job hunt.

Thanks Elaine, definitely well rid! :)

The fridge freezer delivery men took the old TV away..a little bit of being cheeky and just asking and smiling seemed to help that happen.

Colleen I shouldn't worry to much about the water..it's not going to be for days and if there is moss that will make it damp. It shouldn't take too much to dry out - I'd feel the same in your shoes though I admit! :)

Horace..one step at a time..I wish I could wave a magic wand that when something goes wrong we all turn into cleaning heros to get rid of frustrations and the 'stuff' we have to look at which can make you feel worse! It's just not on that it doesn't happen that way.
In a different way I'm in the same boat..it's all a bit (far too!) much and I think I'm sort of waiting for the next thing to happen. Once things calm a bit and stay that way for a while it's much easier to get things done.

Thank you Jariya :) Logically I know, but I've also now had to clear up a flood in the large conservatory- two or three inches of water, cables lying in it, etc...and just when I thought the entrance hall was drying out, it's started flooding again! I'm on my last blanket that isn't soaked through, I don't know what I'll do after that.

    Oh no! :(

In which case yes. I can see your concern.
Has he stopped doing the walls yet?
Do you have neighbours you could borrow some old towels or blankets from?

I wonder how many of us on this thread are suffering with depression. I have suffered on and off for years and am at a pretty low place right how having had my fiance leave me a few days before my Dad dying just over a week ago.

My house is in a dreadful state although I have made a few steps to get it sorted.

My DDs have been away with their Dad as i've not been coping and I promised them their room would be sorted by the time they get back - I now have less than 24 hours to get it sorted and tomorrow I am going to visit my Dad to say a last goodbye :'(

So... In a few minutes I will have to go up there and just crack on with it - no choice.

Hugs to all those who need them, and having read a few of the last pages, that is quite a lot of you (((hugs)))
